different types of lockpicks for different types of locks.

CrunchyDuck, could you perhaps make a lockpicking mod that affects all lockpicks, including chests? I feel like it's too easy to lockpick, and you should first use tools to train lockpicking before being able to lockpick them without tools. UWE had this, but I don't use that expansion.

The vision for the mod is that if you're locked in a slave cage, unless you're already very talented at lockpicking, that simply is not a viable way to escape.
The idea was both to make slavery a very unattractive option, and to make it so if you are caught, outside help becomes a bigger focus.
You can still escape alone, of course. But the improved locks were meant to give a simple hint that you really shouldn't. I just found it far too easy to get out solo, and it made slavers a much lesser threat.

Also - it's a mod, you don't have to use it :P

this mod is just kinda dumb imo. Unless mine is broken, every, single, fuckin lock is 0% and takes me days to unlock. That isn't "harder" that's just more time consuming. Plus what else do you expect someone to do if they do something for a long time? Get worse? This mod needs to be rebalanced.

Nevermind I found this! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2862682582 let you try to picklock anyway regard the hardest

I like this but I also want the half version of this I think you still gonna stuck in jail forever even if you got a bit of lockpicking skill

My memory of the mod maker was that it was a bit too limited to go much further than what I had done. It has been... Goodness three years now, so perhaps my memory serves me poorly.
In either case, I've been working on larger scale personal projects, and modding has always been a in-the-moment type thing. If I come back to the game sometime soon maybe, but I don't see that as very likely.

Perhaps you could pitch the idea to the rest of the community, though :)

Are you still interested in working on the rebalanced lockpicking mod? Highly interested in something like that. Since increasing the lock level will only slow down the time it takes to make locks meaningless

Absolutely nobody would dislike a lockpick rebalanced mod. I agree that I dislike how its one of the easiest skills to level up especially because of the versitality that being able to unlock anything truly is.

Makes the game a little harder and less cheesy, adds value to tools too.

Very useful thx so much, its very easy otherwise. I hope you'r second mods going well.
CrunchyDuck  [author] 24 Dec, 2020 @ 6:28pm
It's likely that could be fixed with the provided modding tools, but it's not something caused by this mod.

I like that this mod makes slave starts a lot harder. If I get put in a cage I have to plan my escape during work hours each day, since you can no longer pick the locks at level 1. lol

My only issue is that if I want to use tools to break an npc's shackles they don't stop moving - if you attempt lockpicking on a roaming slave they stop and wait - and so it cancels out the action. I'm assuming this is a game limitation?

I'll be waiting for that mod! To be honest, I find it too broken that you can simply go and pick a lock with your bare hands. Tools should be required, every time.
