Hi Shura, I checked the sub out in game and it was able to make it through a transport mission without anybody losing oxygen. Did you have any mods running?
Hi, I'm Lexi ツ 20 Nov, 2024 @ 2:00pm
bug report: there is no oxygen on the ship anywhere, and multiple of our human crew members have died shortly after spawning in with the ship as our starter

Thank you to everybody who rated and helped get this sub out of the no star club!!

Thank you for the heads up Newinger! It looks like I forgot to link the loaders after I updated for the last patch, it is fixed now! :captainsmooth:

For some reason, I can't use the coilgun in the Palestar. It is loaded with the default coilgun ammu the ship starts with, but neither me nor the bots can't use it. The bots tell me they can't charge it due to lack of ammu.

Thanks for the feedback Hinny! I did consider the price to be a bit off especially compared to the Dugong. As I wanted this sub to be the beginner friendly version, I figured the 500mk cheaper price tag might come into effect if they ever adjust your starting money to be affected by your starting sub price.

I have tried to reduce the amount of starting equipment a bit as well and can take another look over to see if I can pair down a bit more as well.

The idea behind the toolbelts is to have one for each crew member on a full capacity sub. Because these aren't as useful to give to each crew member for single player, I like to think of them as an option to buy an extra crew member at the start of a campaign if the player so chooses.

You did a very good job with this sub! I like that you created an entire model series with similar design.

If you are open to suggestions, I have some feedback:
I can understand that you would want to make this sub stay under the 6000 limit for single player starting sub reasons, but the price of this one seems very low, though, compared to what you get. It basically beats the Dugong in every category but still is cheaper. Even got the full suite of fabricators.

Maybe dial down the starting equipment a bit? I like the idea of the pre-populated toolbelts for "grab and go", but they are worth more to sell than the whole sub cost to buy!

Glad to hear it! I hope you enjoy the Palestar II just as much :)

Cool, and okay! Love the sub, made the early-game a heck of a lot easier. Just graduated to the Palestar 2!

@bwc153 Thanks for letting me know! It's been fixed. In regards to the exterior lights indicator, I have a text display on the navigation terminal that tells you the status of the exterior lights, that's why I didn't add a light indicator there.

Was messing around in the editor and noticed an extremely minor typo. The ID Description for Player 2017, one of the generics that spawns in the cargo bay, misspells the word "single" as "signle".

Also, the Gun Lights button has a light next to it to let the player know whether it is on or off, but the Exterior Lights Toggle does not have a toggle to let the player know.

Thanks for the heads up Joseph, I have updated the tool boxes in the sub to stop this issue. Too bad about the nerf :(

Thanks for the input Tathas, I completely agree! This thing has more power than it should. I think I setup the reactor and engine output when I first started on it and never really looked at it again lol. I've gone and adjusted things to be more reasonable for a starter sub. It still won't get brownouts when running normally but operation machines/charging capacitors while maneuvering should cause some hiccups. Additionally for the extra power you get from the reactor I increased it's fuel consumption as a trade-off.
Tathas 11 Aug, 2020 @ 9:13pm
I really like the layout, even if some things were shrunken down to fit. Especially the well placed dive suits all around, and the extra status monitor. But, don't you think the engine and reactor are a bit... strong, especially for a starter ship? I mean, it's about the same size as the Dugong, but you have 1800 engine force vs 270, and 15000 reactor output vs 2700.
The 50 horizontal velocity is like, twice as fast as the fastest critter, and I never even had a hint of power brown out at full speed. The Azimuth is the fastest stock ship, and it only gets to 24.

Thanks Patient Ember! I was aiming to make a sub that helps people get into the game easier, while still being fun to play for more experienced crews and I'm glad to hear I have hit that target! This review really means a lot to me :)
Patient 10 Aug, 2020 @ 4:01am
Just. . . wow! I've only owned the game for a week now but I've tried many of the vanilla subs and quite a few custom subs and, this has gotta be the nicest looking and most well thought out compact sub I've seen so far. And all the nice touches, like the 'grab bag' tool boxes next to command! A great sub for small crews or just teaching a friend how to play. Also encourages learning combat tactics; not a fan of subs that are bristling with weapons and have no blind spots. Thank you for sharing this :)

Thanks for the input! I'm kinda going for the cramped/small aesthetic with this sub as it's supposed to be a starter sub, but I'm working on a slightly larger version that players can purchase quickly if they want more space/have a larger crew. I've labeled the hulls appropriately and placed indicators in both access shafts as to which rooms are where, so it should be easy to identify which room is which based on it's contents and location. I'll try adding more room labels to help with navigating the interior space.
Kalmin 9 Aug, 2020 @ 1:20pm
Feels cramped. I'd suggest making it a bit bigger, and distributing the things in different rooms so newer players can know where they are going by just reading the rooms name.
