Oddly it looks like none of the religious files were changed in this patch. That may mean very little work for me to update. I'll have to test to be sure, but expect an update very soon.
For those who suffer UI issue due to Rice/TCT or CaD - just subscribe to More bookmarks+ and extract from gui folder gui for faith , than create empty mod with that only files and put in the end of your load order - so you will have scroll bars for tenets and doctrines

@ComradeOtaku That is certainly something I could consider in the future. I do like the idea, just a bit hesitant about how much of vanilla I want to change.

Great idea and great mod. I have but one minor suggestion, namely making polyamory the default doctrine on relationships for religions that accept both male and female adultery.

I hope that my religion can be reformed by directly changing dogmas and doctrines, because I am happy with the name of my religion, and I don't want to create so many religions, and the cost of change is the same as creating a Protestant.

yeah my bad i was playing with RICE. that mod adds an extra doctrine to zoroastrian religions, cutting off some elements in the ui

It's a nice idea, but I don't think it's even possible barring modifying every single event that involves taking off your clothes. That's one of the reasons why I didn't go for gender-specific polyamory.

Tenet "Rite" don't work, new faith dont follow their old "Head of Faith", old faith "Catholicism"。

Shit I finally got one and was actually right; I took out the catholic trinity and its compatibility patches from the load order and now it works properly on a new game.

I actually dropped the one mod from their list that I thought might be causing the conflict and wanted to see if it resolved but this time I picked Jewish and can't find one that requires it for the life of me lol.

Looking at More Bookmarks+ it is possible they have integrated an older version of the mod and simply haven't updated. You'll need to get in touch with them.

@K.DeWitt By "more bookmarks incorporation" what exactly do you mean? The current version of the mod I have here should have the correct lines of code (can_use_islamic_artefacts etc) in the correct spots.

My syncretism doctrines don't seem to be allowing me to use artifacts of that religion properly I am not sure if that is an intended change, only occurs in the more bookmarks incorporation of the mod (which is what I am actually using) or if its just all together a conflict I have in my order. Any advice at all?

Most likely not, any mods that overwrite the core tenets file can't be compatible with each other unfortunately.

Note to make you might want to give the Zoroastrian and Behafarid a once over, both religions are missing a tenet so they're down to 2/3

In any case, to be certain, I loaded up the game with only this mod installed and ran in observer mode for a while. No crashes, and I checked the error.log afterward, no hits for this mod. It seems fine for me for the current patch, but as always, I cannot guarantee compatibility with other mods, especially those that alter religion. I do my best, but the way the core_tenets file is set up I can't really alter any specific tenet without overwriting them all.

That's probably a conflict with another mod. Because of how religions are coded many religion mods don't play nice together. I sincerely doubt it could need an update, considering that PDX said the only mods that would need updates were ones involving clothing (which this mod doesn't affect).

No idea why but this mod makes my game crash. Starting a new game in 867 once you select the ruler and the game starts it freezes, then crashes. Granted, I have a lot of mods, but the game works perfectly once I disable this mod. Don't know if anyone else is having this issue or not, but just wanted to share in case it needs updating after the recent update.

The patch notes read "As there are no script, code, or database changes, this version should be fully compatible with existing mods and save files.", so I'd be very surprised if it needs any update. I can run a test later to be sure, but I don't think they changed anything and just added more outfits.

Normally I like to update this mod as well as Traditional Tenets on the day of a patch, but I'll be pretty busy for this upcoming patch day so it may not happen. However, the next day I should be relatively free, so I should be able to push out an update then. Apologies if there's any inconvenience caused.

@Constanius At the moment I'm not certain I want to change all of the faiths that have those tenets.

Would you consider changing tenets like Monasticism and Aniconism into doctrines to free up room for more impactful tenets? Insular Christianity had a monastic tradition but I also think it should have Mendicant Preachers or Communal Identity.

@Nelson2111 That's not really on my radar at the moment, it would require either modifying every single instance of nudity in the game or, and I'm speculating here, I haven't really looked into outfit/3D modding, changing how clothing is handled on a fundamental level. Either is pretty far outside the scope of the mod. I really wanted to do male polyamory/female polyamory when I first did the mod, but that too would've required overwriting a lot of files.

The main reason I did the nudity doctrines in the first place because it was a pretty easy change, Naked Priests already existed, it just wasn't selectable and was only applied to faith via script. And I just took the nudity part of Natural Primitivism out of the tenet and put it into its own doctrine. It didn't require touching any event or other part of the script, thankfully.

@Thirsk Yeah, I figured you could do something like that with activate/deactivate, but that'd be such a massive bit of coding and incompatibility for what I consider to be a light mod that it's not really on my radar.

Technically you're correct, though activate_holy_site and deactivate_holy_site look the same from the end-user's perspective, as the holy site is added/removed from the list of holy sites on the religion screen. The holy sites need to be in the list at the start though, so the only way to implement this, as far as I know, is to overwrite every single religion in the game and add every holy site to their list of holy sites, then on startup run deactivate_holy_site so that only the appropriate holy sites are active for each religion. After that, you can use a decision or something to add them when you wish.

Obviously this worsens compatibility and cannot support modded religions, so it's not the best solution.

@SpartanJon As far as I know holy sites can't be changed very much after the game starts. As in, there's no modding script commands to add/remove holy sites.

This will need an update for the changes to reincarnation, but aside from that it should work in the meantime. I'll probably have an update out tomorrow but not tonight.

@dthothearren Right, but in the base game and with my current setup, you could create a faith with both Gnosticism and a syncretism doctrine (that's not eastern). If I put it in the syncretism category you wouldn't be able to do that anymore.

But if Gnosticism is a special doctrine like in Manicheanism, other dualist faiths could still have syncretism doctrines, right? (It doesn’t help that it’s Gnosticism everywhere as opposed to, for example,Teachings of Jesus as a special doctrine and Christian Syncretism as the tenet/syncretism doctrine!) Regardless, I’m following what your saying about Gnosticism tenet’s other effects since it doesn’t just change relationships with dualist faiths

Gnosticism is a tricky one because it's a big tenet with several effects (including changing the base stats of all of its followers); but by putting it in the syncretism slot I'd be making it impossible to have both gnosticism and another syncretic doctrine. Several dualist faiths that can pop up have syncretic doctrines, so that doesn't feel right to me.

While I can agree that dualist faiths/Paulicianism having "one true faith" is a bit odd, from a mechanics standpoint I really don't like having gnosticism in the syncretism slot for those reasons.

Should the Gnosticism tenet be considered a syncretism doctrine? Gnostic faiths have a special doctrine of Gnosticism, so faiths like Paulicianism could have Gnosticism instead of One True Faith, right?

It might work if you load that mod after Tenets to Doctrines. But I had to adjust the GUI for the main doctrines panel, otherwise with the new pilgrimages doctrine it was going off the side for faiths that had an extra doctrine there, like Catholic and Islamic faiths.
