Many thanks !

@Alex The ship upgrades are in a menu to the left of the UI. Its the same for all ships, the upgrades are not physically located in the ship.

I am not sure how the turrets are working now with all the changes to the game since I released this ship. They were initially set up on auto, but I put the chairs in for manual control.
Alex Ringess 8 Jul, 2021 @ 9:42am
I also have another question about the ship's turrets.
Are they only by hand or is there a key to activate them to run in automatic mode ?
Alex Ringess 8 Jul, 2021 @ 9:22am
Fair enough.
Gonna wait then.

Oh, just a question.
I didn't find the location of the chips upgrades. Where are they in the ship ?
(Sorry if it sound like a strange question but I started to play the game few days ago and I'm a total noob ^^)

Thank you Alex! I want to release the station parts (its a modular system), but I would like to go over all of it when the current experiemental branch goes live. There are a lot of changes to how building works going forward and I want to make sure the station parts are not broken and work as I intend them to.

Very good ship man.
Thanks for sharing it.

Is there a chance to see the space station shown on the video in the workshop one day or another ? This station looks amazing too !!

Interesting ideas, I will be sure to take them into account!

Also wanted to mention I keep a copy of Gobb's Oddity near my build to get inspiration. It's a very good build you have.

You are welcome Donnie. Another thing I like to do is come up with some basic lore, or background. This does not need to be in writing, or even deep...just come up with something basic like "military ship for a 5 star general", "smuggling ship with hidden cargo", "strike fighter that seats two" etc. You can of course flesh out any lore, and in truth some lore can help you flesh out the ship.

In art & school you learn that limitations/boundries are you best friend. Tell me to create something on an empty canvas...and I am lost. Tell me to create a red house that fits in a 10x10x5 box and the ideas start coming. Lore can help with this because you start to define the work without knowing it.

If you have a concept and have set those limitations, you are 50% of the way there :)
Roadie 7 Feb, 2021 @ 4:06pm
Yes that was very insightful! thank you for responding :)

I ask because I'm building my own first ship and you seem to be very adept at it
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 7 Feb, 2021 @ 1:37am
Part 1. Hi Donnie. I can't speak for others, but my approach is kinda both. For example. I might start on a cockpit/bridge, but I also start filling it out with details and necessary components which then helps me shape the hull. Once The hull starts to take form, I might switch to more "body" work. From this point rooms are build based on the available space from the hull, where as the cockpit shape was formed around the interior.

I imagine this sounds kinda odd, but there is a point in the process where the ship itself determines the direction.
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 7 Feb, 2021 @ 1:37am
Part 2. Another way to think of it. Is Minecraft. Making a house on a flat field usually ends up being kinda boxy (for me anyway), and it feels kinda lifeless. But if I build into a cave or side of a mountain, the interior takes on a more random/organic feel. For the cockpit, I need that "flat ground" approach where I can make anything (because necessity is the mother of invention and I need a yoke, screens etc), but the rest of the ship is like building into the mountain. I try to make use of the cubby holes and odd shapes.

I hope that helps.

Im curious; when folks like yourself design a ship, do you design the exterior first and then figure out how to fit the rooms inside it, or do you build all the rooms first and then come up with an exterior shape to contain them?
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 12 Jan, 2021 @ 5:44pm
Hey Gatt. I had saved it to spawn with landing gear open, but I think one of the updates changed something. I have been gone for awhile. Ima try to put an exterior button on it tonight and see if I can work a warp core into the ship.
Gatt 29 Dec, 2020 @ 3:19pm
i love this ship, the detail is amazing. small suggestion(or its there and i didnt see it). it needs a button on the outside to open the landing gear, spawned it on a planet and could not get inside. other than that is is flawless
Technician Joe 24 Dec, 2020 @ 3:21pm
This ships one of my all time favorites on the workshop. Is there any chance you would retrofit a hyper drive on this ship
TachyonTraveller 18 Nov, 2020 @ 7:53am
*smiles* I am not a buildy type, I don't have the skills for something like this.

Now to the question I have in mind: Do you plan on retrofitting this ship to be warp capable? i understand that recent developments in propulsion have resulted in interstellar travel. I would very much like to see the Oddity hop from star to star. :)
TheTownWitchDoctor 27 Oct, 2020 @ 11:35am
This is truly awesome. I love how this game allows you to design down to microwaves and coffee makers. That said, I'm incapable of building even a basic ship. Space Engineers might hold you back when it comes to detail but I think it's a fair bit easier to lay out a basic ship. Still as the game progresses I'll hopefully learn a bit, if not I'll just blueprint awesome stuff off the workshop like this.
Lung 19 Oct, 2020 @ 6:10am
How do you change your workshop blueprints thumbnail?
Reason 8 Oct, 2020 @ 5:52pm
Putting this in Starbase 147!
Reason 6 Oct, 2020 @ 2:28pm
I'm liking the old feel
Cee64E 21 Sep, 2020 @ 3:07pm
Preeeeeety. Do want!

Adonnay 18 Sep, 2020 @ 2:54am
This is insane... I'm totally blown away but what Starship EVO can do and what YOU did so early in this game's stage!
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 16 Sep, 2020 @ 2:01pm
Thank you ikonikre and CptDeadlock.
Setles. Agreed! ty for the front weapon implementation!
ikonikre 15 Sep, 2020 @ 6:17pm
Nice work. Very well done.
CptDeadlock 15 Sep, 2020 @ 4:05am
absolutely brilliant job, ship is amazing and looks fantastic
Setles 15 Sep, 2020 @ 2:01am
Everyone should be able to enjoy the power of BRRRRRT
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 14 Sep, 2020 @ 4:00pm
Hello all. I have a friend who has retrofitted the ship with some very nice front firing cannons. I mean its scary cool. I am considering updating the blueprint. Is this something you all would like to see?
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 14 Sep, 2020 @ 4:22am
Good morning all. Thank you Benny and Longlanguidlizard.
Benny7 14 Sep, 2020 @ 3:41am
Gobb has a cool ship! The outside and inside details are really good. I love the center engine details and the bottom. Thank u for the upload.
LongLanguidLizard 13 Sep, 2020 @ 8:10pm
Really nice design and a fantastic interior. Great work!
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 6:49pm
Thanks you Blues for the nice comment. Zodiac. Gobb is an alien smuggler. Peaceful, eschews violence, loves to be in the stars. A bit of a happy go lucky guy, but he is not unaware of the things going on around him. He will most certainly act if he is fired upon. He might be peaceful, but he is not ignorant.
Zodiac 13 Sep, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Who is Gobb :lunar2020thinkingtiger:
Damon 13 Sep, 2020 @ 12:04pm
thank you servo i love your ship the fact that you were able to get so much detail in the thing is incredible if i had any steam points i would post a award but you deserve it
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 11:27am
Thank you BrickMacklin and Setles for the very nice comments. I learn a lot from you all.
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 11:12am
Blues and Twos. I updated the blueprint with landing gear down. You may access a button on the back landing gear for the back lift, or a button on the front landing gear for the front lift.

Thank you for the feedback. I hope this helps.
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 11:00am
Ohh..and its not a stupid question, not at all.
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 10:59am
Hey Blues. If you spawned it on the ground, you just have to use F5 to clip through the walls. I probably should have saved the blueprint with the landing gear down.
If you spawn it in space head to the front of the ship underneath it where the front landing gear would come down, you will see a faint black painted button. That will lower the elevator lift.

There is a front lift and a back lift. The video shows the back lift. Let me know if this helps!
Damon 13 Sep, 2020 @ 10:55am
stupid question but how do you get inside without breaking it
Setles 13 Sep, 2020 @ 10:28am
Top ship! The detailing on this is insane. If you want to get a lesson in proper interiors you should definitely check this thing out.
BrickMacklin 13 Sep, 2020 @ 9:16am
Many on this game make beautiful ships. You are one of few that puts the same effort to the interior as you do the exterior. Ships pleasing to the eye are a dime a dozen but walk into a Servo ship and you are greeted with wonderful view of detail and color. This vessel is a real pleasure to have on the library
Wolfe Beckhaver  [author] 13 Sep, 2020 @ 7:10am
Thank you Zodiac. I though I was done with the ship, but then Gobb showed up. A friendly, light hearted, goofy and somewhat forgetful alien. His character really gave me the drive to pour more into the ship. I hope you all enjoy it. I really love little Gobb and his Oddity :)
Zodiac 13 Sep, 2020 @ 7:07am
Breath taking!
