for some reason this mod skips the parish radio conversation on the bridge when you press e on the radio and talk to rescue 7 and papa gator

Hmm, okay, but I assure you - it's nothing i've done.

In the interest of clarity, here's the facts: On vanilla L4D2 OR modded L4D2 - on my account or a new account - on this PC or a different PC - without THIS add-on - I never hear lost calls under ANY conditions, ever. They simply don't occur; they are not (any longer) a part of the game - only a vague memory, years old. With this add-on I hear them (when solo) almost immediately on map start (and they trigger, recur and vary as expected thereafter) just like old times.

The current talker scripts had added a criteria where the survivor cannot be the only one alive on their team regardless of whether the other teammates are either dead or never present.

This is probably why the automatic Lost Calls are not firing in cases like yours. Other instance includes a 50 second cooldown on a successful fire, a context being applied, usually on Finale Start or even after contacting someone for the finale, and even Spotting the rescue vehicle (escape music starts), should there be a non-finale of sorts.

Other than that, Lost Calls will automatically fire should the closest survivor from you be farther than 3000 units away. (This has not changed since the update)

Automatic. I am of the hapless impression that brand-new 2023 L4D2 has no automatic 'lost calls' when solo (or when reduced to solo) in any mode. And I suspect it's a TLS update thing simply because that was my hunch and THIS add-on fixed it.

If you know why I have no automatic lost calls WITHOUT this addon please let me know, as I do enjoy the more meaty automatic campaign banter and triggers of the TLS update. But I'm doing a solo and duo rebalance overhaul and so for immersion and flavour the lost calls are a must.

Actually - and forgive me - but if you could make a post-TLS add-on that simply 'restores' automatic lost calls for all survivors i'd gladly use that instead. That might actually be a thing that needs fixing that noobs don't know about and that vets didn't care for (and thus escaped notice?).

That's my hunch anyway.

I haven't played in years until recently and started getting into modding single and solo player mutations and it's there that I noticed the complete absence of any lost calls. I installed unmodded L4D2 on a different PC and alternate steam account trying to work out what was causing the issue and they were absent there too (playing Last Man Standing vanilla).

Bewildered after lots of fruitless troubleshooting, I wondered if it was a Last Stand thing, found this mod and BAM; instantly fixed.

Doesn't seem like a 'just a me' thing considering I bought the game on a new account to test it and had the same results. Anyway, this solved it and I'm chuffed.

This is the only way I know of to restore a survivor's "lost calls" when playing solo or when the rest of the team has been wiped. For that alone, I thank you.

Pre-talker is pre-tls. with bugfixes. TrueTalkerDS is post-tls, with compatibility with custom campaigns (refer to item discussions), and stops almost all custom, manual, voc inputs.

Okay, i found the problem just before my screen started acting up again. Here’s what to do: search up “Todd” in finales_dlc2 in that one block, there’s commented out lines with one “/“ simply add another one to fix it.

Since the new update I can't play any campaign because while it's loading it crashes back to desktop with an engine error:

You seem to confuse custom radial menus (vocalizers) with talker scripts. This isn’t a keybound thing. This is passive for your locally hosted sessions.

It is script file, so it does not trigger VAC ban, so feel free to use it! But it is only available on local server.

Talkers are server-sided. They will not work if you are not the host of a local server, or if a server you are joining does not have this. (It also means that it does not matter whether or not you have this when joining a non-local server)

They definetly messed up the vocalizer. A LOT of lines that USED to work before the update, don't anymore. And i meant A LOT

@Nicki they didint messed up the vocalizer, all they did was to use all the cutted lines that wasnt suppose to be in the game, and that make the vocalizer dev have to update it more

You should make a different version of TLS talker that allows you to interrupt intros, use death screams and laughs in VS and remove any other restrictions allowing to use ANY voice line using vocalizer at any moment.

It's possible that you installed the talker and the vocalizer in the wrong order. Make sure that the vocalizer is installed first before the talker.

Talker scripts are server sided. Plus, this is the pre-update talker. so much will be different from what is currently in L4D2 post-TLS.
