Thank you for this creation. Very easy to fly and load containers, am loving it... brilliant for career mode.

Thanks for your comments, -Bishop-. The current AP works by pointing the nose at the WP and moving forward. Previously when wind had little effect on the craft direction it wasn't a problem. I have a plan in the future in building an AP that takes the wind in to effect and calculates a necessary vector to get you to defined WP.

Oh now I understand it. It makes complete sense ang Im sure thats what has been happening.

Before I fiddle with the settings, does it matter if the nose points forward / towards the WP? Sounds silly, but I just need to understand the mechanics.

Again, great work on this.

There is a Property Value that can be set on the AP FbW Microcontroller located under the Main Rotor. The Setting "Bearing Delta for Max AP Speed" identifies the +/- range in degrees that are required for the pusher throttle to be automatically set to full. Currently it's set to +/- 5'. After 5' the Max Throttle will scale based on a formula that applies a dampening multiplier which increases the more the nose is pointed away from the WP. If you want to allow for a great range of max throttle you can make that property larger all the way up to 180'.

Hi -Bishop-. For the AP the system adjusts the throttle of the Pusher Motor depending upon the relative angle the craft is with regards to the WP. This is to minimize the amount of off-course movement that would occur until you are actually pointing in the right direction. It may also be effected by a heavy wind pushing your nose off course or a load that is moving about if it is slung only by cables .

Hi. Good response, much appreciated.

After I said I figured it out, i hadn't.... Sometimes, the AP will just max speed at about 20ms. I can't figure out why. I'm now down to monitoring weather conditions, changing Waypoints etc. Sometimes the AP goes 100% throttle and 50+ ms with no issues. Sometimes not...

It's and incredible creation, not gonna lie, but this AP is getting me down.
ElfBossHogg  [author] 1 Feb, 2021 @ 11:18am
In terms of speed. On AP it should automatically kick in to full pusher motor throttle which will get it in to the 50+ m/s range. When you run the Lulu in non-AP mode the speed is dictated by both your pitch angle and the throttle power you specific for the "Pusher Engine" (ducted fans pushing rearward). In AP that's all automatic, outside of AP it's all manual (1 to increase pusher throttle, 2 to decrease it).

Hi -Bishop-. Thanks for your comments. :) In regards to speed it's currently posted in m/s. Most of my "off-water" creations are denoted that way (metric) outside of items built for specific community challenges. Boats I'll typically note as knots.

Nevermind, i figured it out. Before you engage AP, you need to manually set the throttle to max. Im sure you are saying it here above, I just misinterpreted it.

GREAT GREAT flying machine though. Well done.

Great chopper XD

Just, I can't seem to be able to fly this thing. When AP is enabled in flight mode, (empty - no load) the throttle hovers at 23% and 'SPD' shows 23 the whole time.

Is the SPD speed? Which is 23m/s or kts? Can't get it to go to 53m/s. Can't override the throttle either...

Am i just dumb?

Ok thank you

I can't remove the deprecated blocks until they fix the winch "elastics". Otherwise the lift system won't work properly.

Can you remove the Deprecated blocks? I'd appreciate it.

When is it slowing down? I just tested it and everything appears to be operating fine with no unpredicted slow downs. The AP will automatically dampen the power going to the pusher motor depending upon your bearing to the target. If you provide manual adjustments that push it way off course it will slow down the pusher for forward speed. This helps to prevent overshoot to the left or the right of the final WP. Additionally the AP will automatically slow down and come to a stop at its WP.

The autopilot is acting wierd. It starts going fast and then slows down, and then repeats. Basicaly it could be going 50 by me controlling it or 5-18 with autopilot. Any idea?

Thx! :steamhappy:

Hi manugl. I added a manual override option for LOAD MODE...

- Added a button that will allow you to manually set LOAD MODE active. It replaces the LOAD ACTIVE INDICATOR in the control panel. The MODE Status shows up in the HUD: IDLE (Ground Idle), FLT (Normal Flight Mode, good for unladen flights) and LOD (Load Mode which sets the system to carry heavy loads by amping the RPS on the Engines and setting the gearboxes for more RPS)

Thanks, manugl. 😊 That makes sense. Should be as easy as adding another toggle button and an or. Going to do it next chance I get.

Hi there! Great Skycrane you built there! :cozyspaceengineersc:
Would be cool if you could add an option to manually switch to "load mode", cause if you attach a cargo just with the ropes you can't lift it due to missing engine power

lol
ElfBossHogg  [author] 9 Oct, 2020 @ 3:24pm
Thanks, Hunter. I may consider making a bigger version in the next attempt. For right now she's an efficient cargo shunter who can bring in the big logistical bucks. I was trying to come up with a name for it for a while and it suddenly hit me: Looks like a bug, legs like a bug that fold out... close to a beetle... and it flies... going to name it as a she... "Ladybird". :)

i thought it was a giant buffed up orange ladybug, nice creation. My only thing is that if you were to do a MK2 of it add a small living quarter in it
