just tried using this to test it out, and i also can't seem to get the printer to work? the projection is started off just above the window with room for things to be welded, but it seems like the welders just don't do anything?

I have been aching to build this since I saw it and reached a point in my streaming playthrough of the Ares at War scenario where I could.

Despite a few hiccups with pirates attacking partway through the print, I finished the print.
Barely had time to fly it yet but really awesome ship,

A few glitches with SE and timer blocks, they needed a rewire to actually open/close the hanger doors but that's more SE than the design.

Love the ship and really outstanding work on the design and fit.
Really throughfully laid out.

@swerve You have to manually re-align them in some cases. I most often 'break' them aka desync them in this way if I get too click happy and hit a few diff modes before it can complete the last maneuver. It can happen for other reasons too.

@slimy that is both using atmo's and not parachutes. Logical reasoning is that you cannot aid with paras on way up, but only on way down. Easier just to put on the weight the atmos can hover you at and not bother to check or calc for para deployment by player ( hard + performance costly )

Also as a general FYI Boz doesnt tend to make modded vessels. The spirit of the idea simply being to make a workshop item that is widely approachable by the community. Modding and tweaking is encouraged, and he tries to plan for that where possible - but as far as I know Boz still doesn't plan on producing modded vessels regularly, if at all.

So far I've spent around 12 hours exploring and learning how this thing ticks. The big issue is now all the timer blocks for VTOL Thrusters don't match, and I don't know how to fix it...looks like other people have had this issue, but I haven't seen a solution yet.

He I feel your pain. When I retrofit a workshop ship for use with my mods, I usually spend about 40-60 hours on your averagely sized frigate. I slice it and splice it and take notes on where everything is, and then I put it back together slowly.

I don't even want to know how long it would take me on this behemoth.

This ship is a thing of beauty. I'm in love.

I'm attempting to upgrade everything to "Elite" tech using the SI Tier mod, but this thing WAS NOT designed to be upgraded, and the complexity is testing my sanity.

I know this will probably never happen, but if you ever decide to make a Mk.V, or just an updated Mk.IV, could you please make a model with SI Tier mod upgrades? (Since Stone Industries is the best server and is just about to add 2 new tiers on Sept. 12)

Multi Grid Projector mod isn't needed - there's a link in the description for a collection that gives blueprints for all of the subgrid pieces, you just have to attach them to the ship once you build them (fairly easy, the construction version of the ship's main body gives you instructions at each attachment point for all the various pieces, and they all attach via rotors or hinges)

I can't seem to get the rear vtols connected, I built both fronts separately and they snapped right in same with the front ramp.
Is their a trick to it or should it be as easy as the front?


I built the normal version and then added the assembly version parts after it was done.

Very beautiful ship, nice work, although a bit lacking when the firepower is concerned. Little change in armament, perhaps? Also, in some areas near windows, there seems to be a problem with oxygen. Is this a game bug?

This ship is absolutely stunning! Everything works perfectly after survival build (2022)! Just needed to set VTOL Thruster script values on your own. :steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup:

I tried using your Samson rover with it though and although it fits into the front area and is capable of parking just fine... unfortunately I had to stop using it because no matter how high I would try to raise the wheels while it was docked... it just wasnt enough to get it so the vehicle wouldnt cause a drift in the whole ship.

I really hope though to see maybe a Mk5 in the future though with all the new DLC that has come out since the last time this has been updated.

So I have been using this ship alot and have modified it some since the update by replacing the top 2 gatlings with artillery turrets, added 2 assault cannon turrets on the top-back aswell and replaced the 2 missile turrets with railgun ball turrets. It has been serving me quite well (except the fact the normal turret AI is quite broken atm and doesnt want to actually engage anything) though as pretty much my new mobile base. It isnt excessively big for a single person and the hangar is large enough to easily accommodate the various miners I need for whether I am planet-side or in space. I still need to figure out how to modify the hull/turret area though for the railguns to stop them from aiming back far enough so that if an enemy starts getting behind me.. they dont blast apart the rear engines again. >_>

My favourite big ship too - been a fan since the Mk3. That one was my introduction to so many aspects of the game, scripts & LCDs, pistons & rotors, not to mention big ship construction itself. The Mk4 is my go-to ship for long-range exploration & base building now. Even customised it some, but not so much as it winds up looking like the Red Dwarf - a tweak or three is one thing but butchering the original design is another.

Thing is, there have been a good few updates and new pretty pretty DLC blocks that have come out since 2020 so tell me; are there any plans for a Mk5? :)

This might be stupid - but how those scripts are activated? I can see programmable blocks, but nothing seems to work?
Content is set to "No Content" and even though I subscribed to those scripts( or at least some) Im unable to set them as active as they dont appear as option when content == script.

Oh and the missile scripts need an update, I don't think they work. That's a little fiddly, as you need to update the blueprints in the missile printer.

There's a slight pitch drift on the way up due to the strong VTOL thrust hanging on a subgrid. You can fix that by setting one of the gyros to override 0/0/0 while ascending. The ship will also drift downwards in 1G if the nacelles are pointing anywhere but down, because this ship is thicc.

Also took her from EarthLike surface to space. Took about 6 minutes and used 10% of my H2. I'd probably put Blargh's Ascent Cruise Control somewhere to handle that, but you get up just fine, as long as the VTOL is pointing down.

I just pasted a new one in my survival world. Paste ship, go in, sit in captain seat, press button 8, VTOL turns downwards. I didn't touch anything else.

yeah the front engines rotates but the back does not . meaning not enough left to get off planet.

The VTOL nacelles are controlled by a script on hotbar 1, slots 6-9.

ty . yeah i see the problem , the back enigines dont point downwards but i can move the front ones to the down spot. but there is no rotor controll for the back engine rotor that i can see.

And make sure you do have the hydrogen thrusters on. In stronger gravity with high ship mass it's easier to move the VTOL thrusters to be vertical.

Sounds to me like you don't have any H2. Over 6k is where atmo thrusters give out.

This is very neat! I have one issue and that is I am unsure of how to use the printer. I think I understand everything except where to attach the blueprints
