I'm primarily looking for something that makes all the ship weapons in the game visually distinct, so a player getting shot can tell what's coming at them by color.

Are you using any other ammo/weapon mod? I have just tried, and it worked for me. Also, did any specific combination of weapon/ammo not working or any of them?

Also, it appears the rifle/pistole magazines don't color the tracers anymore

unfortunately I tried to use this mod in my current save today, but the weapons don't automatically pull colored ammunition, if you could fix it that would be great, thank you

Yeah I've realised that, it's going to be some time before I get a chance to look at weapon cores ammo system and how to recreate this in that if I can.

i don't think it will work with weaponcore. As mentioned couple posts below, weaponcore have its own ammo system and wont work with stuff made for Keen's ammo.

I'm just trying to figure out how to get your ammo to work with Weapons core, I recently switch to PC from console and the only thing I miss is your ammo mod.

With this tracer mod variant Enemies will still use default ammo. You can try other tracer variant - those will replace vanilla ammo for everybody across the board.

That's ok, I figured it'd be a task. That and from what I had been reading it seemed like some kind of weapon ammo conflict. WC-RVW mod is very broken right now as none of the vanilla weapons do any damage, which I found out during my testing last night. Sadly though, without the WC mod the new custom turret controller doesn't work at all, so damned if I do damned if I don't.

I have never used weaponcore, so i have no idea how it works, but if it overwrites vanilla weapons then there will be mod conflict, as i had to modify vanilla weapons too for them to accept more ammo types. You could try to play with mod loading order, but i can't promise any results.
I suppose a real solution would require me to make separate mod with weaponcore compatibility... and learnweaponcore which i don't really have time for to be honest.

Test update, posted it on the WC-RVW page too, if the ammo is already in the fixed or turret gat it works fine but will not allow any more to be placed. Removal works fine though.

I found whats breaking Gats using your ammo, Weapon Core's Replace Vanilla Weapons.
Normal guns use their mags fine but absolutely REFUSE to even let your ammo into the Gatling guns inventory if that mod is enabled. I didn't try fixed gats because the turrets were the only ones I ran into this issue with. I'm testing it as I type this, just though I'd give an update on my issue here.

i have no idea how weaponcore would affect ammo selection, but id does change so many things, that it wouldn't surprise me if it did.
In vanilla though, if you want your tower to change ammo used you need to place both new ammo and single piece of old ammo in turret inventory and disable conveyor acces, so it does not replenish old ammo. The set it to constant fire until it runs out of last magazine. Then it should switch automatically to the only available ammo box. I did not found easy workaround for this. Sadly this is how Keen implemented multiple ammo types, no idea if weaponcore tried to improve on that.
Fixed guns and rifles are pretty easy in comparison. Just press their hotbar number again and they should cycle through available ammos. They may need to have different ammo placed in inventory before they fill up completely with the old one though.
Solarflare railgun is definitely possible, but not entirely what i was going for with this mod though.

@UfoL BeerSeeker: It would def be neat to see a bigass blue or green tracer hurtling across the landscape or space. I never could get any of your ammos to load, the guns would all just refuse it and stop working. It might be my fault though as I normally play survival with admin tools on and have the weapon core stuff, It could be a combination of that. I'll muck with settings on my test world and see what happens.

Maybe odd question, how bright can you make the tracers? I'd imagine a solar flare bright Railgun round would be an interesting sight.

@scientwisted: It does for me. Did you have any issues with the mod? I only had to update damage values to reflect changes from recent update. But it only changes tracers of pistol, rifle and gatling ammos. The new ones introduced in Warfare 2 update have not been touched. I am not sure if i should modifly colours of large calibre guns too. Or should i? What are your thoughts? And is it worth extra clutter in crafting menu?

Thanks for getting back to me, it was me doing something wrong . It does work it on the cross-platform dedicated server just i cant download the mod.io version through the steam version of space engineers, but that seems to be a keen issue lol. Once that's sorted I'll put it straight on to shoot my friends on xbox XD

I do not own any console, so i can't test it at all. The mod itself doesn't run any scripts so it "should" be fine. Crossplatform is quite new though and not sure how reliable it is.
I've uploaded my tracer mods on Mod.io under same names, you can try those and see if there is any difference.

Hey fan of the mod and was interested in putting it on a cross-platform server, but currently doesn't work(or i was doing something wrong XD) Just wondering if you had any plans to make it cross platform

Vanilla npc's will use vanilla ammo by default. They can use tracers if they happen to spawn with some colored ammo in cargo though. However I'm not sure how much randomness is in cargo generation.
Ammo colors per faction has been suggested to me before and i like the idea. It's just adulting taking so much time that i am not modding anything at the moment.

Not tested yet but will this mod also change the tracers of the enemy npc´s? Of course only the vanilla ones.

I may make short video on how to do it. The basic idea is that if turret is out of ammo it will only accept last used ammo (or vanilla ammo if first use). To switch you need to prime it with last used ammo first and it will then switch to new type once it finishes magazine. (Make sure conveyor is disabled or it will start pulling other ammo)
I don't know why keen designed it that way...

hey! i wanted to say that this mod, as far as i could tell, is very good. i had no problems with changing the ammo type in rifle, tho i had problem changing the ammo in both interior turrets and gatlings. i tried to follow the steps you wrote in the description, tho it didnt work. i am now trying to download again the mod, maybe it was a problem of the game or i did not do the drill correctly. i'm gonna write you again if something changes. thanks for your time and job <3

I am not sure what may be the problem here. I just tested the mod again, just to be sure it works in multiplayer, and it seems to be fine. I have no means to try it on dedicated server though, so maybe that's the culprit. But it's still weird as the mod doesn't contain any scripting which would require synchronisation or anyrhing.
Do colored magazines all show up for You in Assembler crafting menu? Do you have actual colored magazine on you when firing? Bacause vanilla ammo is unchanged.

Tap Rifle's hotkey again to cycle through ammo types. Make sure you have 5.56 caliber with you if you shoot rifle.
If you use turret, it may still be pulling other ammo via conveyor. If you're in creative, turrets have infinite ammo, so they may be reluctant to switch. I had to switch to survival during my tests to let them run out of ammo and switch to another type.
I am nut sure how much graphic settings can influence tracer particles visibility, try fiddling with that if you keep having issues.

I'm glad you like my mod.
If you'd like this tracer ammo used in other mods it would be possible in most cases. My mod provides definitions for ammo and magazines but it is modded weapons that would need to have my ammo listed in their available ammo types.
So I guess you'd have to convince other mod's authors to release edited version of their mod that uses my ammo. I'd rather not mess with other's work and reupload it.
