yeah a lot of people have said they dislike that bit, I guess I could make a VE toggle patch for it otherwise I'd have to get someone who can do C# to make mod options
Unfriendly Joe 13 Jul @ 8:11am
Really like the color and flavor of stones in this mod. Definitely would like some options regarding jet though. For example, a wood fueled generator I have is being jammed with Jet chunks that don't provide a lot of power instead of the wood I have laying around. There's no options for me to disable the Jet as fuel element (I like the look of jet as a pure black stone and would rather turn it into blocks) so it is making me not able to use the wood fueled generators for power.

For me overall, the reason I'm using this mod is for more colorful stone types, not so much to have a stone as a fuel. The stone types are very cool in general and really bring a lot of needed color options for stones, especially since KV's stones seem to be abandoned. Thanks for the mod!

How would people feel about me splitting Jet into a separate mod? I was thinking about doing it for 1.5 but didn't

Holgast  [author] 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:30am
hahahha...I fixed it...stupid mistake from me. fixed now!
Holgast  [author] 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:13am
ok it looks like it's just the bridges patch, it works fine with just that one disabled
Dualdragoon 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:07am
Awesome. Even temporarily removing either mod would ruin my save so I'm sort of stuck.
Holgast  [author] 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:05am
yeah, I noticed this when I was streaming with both mods, I thought it was a problem with VFE Architect's update. I will disable the patch for now and figure it out later
Dualdragoon 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:02am
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the your 1.5 update broke compatibility with VFE - Architect. I was running the 1.4 version before you updated and afterward the update came through all of the buildings from the structure tab disappeared from the tab and can't be built. Can't even make walls or doors because the "make copy" buttons are gone too. Took me like 3 hours to track the issue down to these two mods together.
Holgast  [author] 13 Apr, 2024 @ 3:56am
Updated to 1.5 and added Mines compatibility. Also I just saw the creator of Mines commented here ages ago, I responded to it then and then completely forgot about it
Holgast  [author] 18 Nov, 2023 @ 5:22pm
and it doesn't work currently? I'll put it on the to-do list to have a look at a later date
Itsuko 18 Nov, 2023 @ 3:24pm
it's legit just called mines, i have the mental capacity of a 2x4
Holgast  [author] 18 Nov, 2023 @ 3:15pm
hmm, I thought I had added it for one of the mine mods or it already supported it by default. if you recall which one it is lemme know
Itsuko 18 Nov, 2023 @ 11:16am
ever planning on patching it for the mod that adds mine shafts, i cant remember the name even though i was just looking at it
Holgast  [author] 19 Mar, 2023 @ 3:11am
Just tested with only this mod on, can't replicate my end.
Holgast  [author] 19 Mar, 2023 @ 3:07am
probably not caused by this mod, it merely adds more stone types using the base game code. maybe you are using too many mods? could you make sure you're not using prepare carefully or any of the other popular mods known to cause lots of issues
Kerantli 2 Dec, 2021 @ 4:46pm
Thank you for fixing! I really do adore this mod so much
Holgast  [author] 2 Dec, 2021 @ 2:33pm
Updated - should all be fixed now. Thanks for reporting!
Holgast  [author] 2 Dec, 2021 @ 2:12pm
I think that the floor mod must have renamed its defs, I had to fix this for another one recently. I don't really use that one so I haven't noticed :o
Kerantli 2 Dec, 2021 @ 10:14am
Not sure if this is an issue to report here, or the mod the floors belong to

Awesome, thank you so much Holgast! You really went above and beyond!
Holgast  [author] 21 Nov, 2021 @ 10:23pm
I talked to the dev for Cherry Picker and removing stone from the game works now, you'll just need to go into Cherry Picker's mod settings, search for 'jet' or whatever and disable all the recipes, terrain defs, blocks, chunks and stone you don't want. I'll add those other stones I wanted when I find the time then and people can just remove those they don't want :)
|dvh| 5 Nov, 2021 @ 4:08am
I'll try it, thank you!

Fair, thank you!
Holgast  [author] 9 Oct, 2021 @ 8:12am
That sort of thing requires C# code, which is much more advanced than anything I can do. I've considered commissioning it but I think I need to have implemented all the items I wanted before doing that.

If you like, you can remove the 'JetPatch' and 'ChemfuelPatch' patches and that will remove jet's ability to be used as a fuel source.
|dvh| 8 Oct, 2021 @ 12:43pm
Any chance for a mod option window (maybe like Cupro's Stones) so we can turn off Jet? If I remember right, the lore of the game establishes that there shouldn't be anything like coal or oil out in the galaxy.
Holgast  [author] 6 Sep, 2021 @ 8:16am
cheers! I think I've only used your mod in a modpack previously, but it seemed pretty cool.
Cain 5 Sep, 2021 @ 11:04pm
Just a quick self-promotion. These materials can be mined on an ongoing game with my Mines mod. You can find it my profile.
maxwellccm 5 Sep, 2021 @ 7:45pm
cinnabar makes mercury so... mabey give a metalic red?
Holgast  [author] 31 May, 2021 @ 5:46am
Just a quick update. For a long time I have had stats set up for 6 other stones to add to this mod, but I haven't gotten around to adding them yet, mostly because I'm not sure how interested people will be in them, but also some of them have less aesthetic appeal to tie in to further mods in the Strike the Earth series.
My ideas were to add Cinnabar, Realgar, Orpiment, Dolomite, Chert, Hornblende and Pyrite. Of those I'm most likely to add hornblende and pyrite first because they're more fun. The first three are all going to be very weak structurally, and I'm not sure how much I can visually differentiate realgar, cinnabar and rutile while still looking okay as natural stone. Having three red stones might be a bit much. But I'm open to thoughts!
Holgast  [author] 29 Dec, 2020 @ 6:19am
Next update I'll probably remove the plant matter tag for jet - I think it only counts for things like stockpile categories, so it appears twice. I would still like to add a couple extra stones to this, just need to get around to it.
Holgast  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 5:18pm
Yeah, that's intentional. I don't think it actually does anything, though. The fuel stuff is a different thing. I added the plant matter tag just in case it's useful for other mods or something like that.
Tinydancer 4 Dec, 2020 @ 8:16am
Possible bug: 'jet blocks' count as Plant Matter.

Possibly necessary related to them being an alternate fuel source?

Love the mod & compatibility; nice job!
Holgast  [author] 3 Dec, 2020 @ 1:48pm
Sorry, I don't know anything about UI modding, so yes, you have to use all of them.
I do plan to do metals at some point, but I'm not certain how I want to do it. Mods already exist for many alloys and common metals. I hadn't thought about adamantine, but that could probably be separate in case people don't want it.
Forekast 3 Dec, 2020 @ 11:10am
Rather, I should've said "plans to do DF metals"
Forekast 3 Dec, 2020 @ 11:09am
Are these all or nothing, or is there a menu that lets you toggle which you want to include in-game?

Any plans on including Adamantine?
Holgast  [author] 2 Dec, 2020 @ 3:53am
actually, yes, I do plan to also do trees and plants, metals might be a bit more complicated. they would be real life plants mostly. There's already the mod 'Rimfortress: Dwarven Plants' which adds some, take a look at that. feel free to have a go at making one though!
Lyn the Cookie 2 Dec, 2020 @ 3:44am
Yo, 'sup? I'd like to ask, this is a really cool mod and I love Dwarf Fortress, so are you planning to make a mod that adds DF plants to the game? Because if you're not planning, I wanna try making one.
Holgast  [author] 30 Nov, 2020 @ 6:02am
ooh, thanks! I assume there won't be any changes but I'll have to look into that.
Dr Zhivago 30 Nov, 2020 @ 5:40am
Cupro's Stones is updated.
Holgast  [author] 27 Nov, 2020 @ 1:42am
Since titanium isn't included in DF, I didn't think about it. Maybe I could add something for Glitter Tech and Metals+ users to get some titanium out of it, since you mentioned it.
I wasn't thinking of implementing all that much in terms of the stones' constituent materials until I get to the more useful ores; I originally haven't included DF's mercury and arsenic stones for instance, but since poison isn't modelled in either game I'll probably add them now.
Holgast  [author] 27 Nov, 2020 @ 1:42am
Hi! Thanks for your comment and compliment!
I don't think you really need that many different rocks unless you're collecting them all somehow, but I did put more emphasis on aesthetics for this mod because Rimworld doesn't have much in the way of colour variety and you can't really make a super colour coded colony. The whole thing started because I wanted microcline in the game. Now it's kind of spiralled.
I was of the opinion that jet is not great for building or making anything practical. But yes, it can be used as a gemstone. I haven't implemented jewelry compatibility for it yet, because I deliberately avoided most gem- and ore-bearing things for probably inclusion in another mod.
Project Thylacine 26 Nov, 2020 @ 5:13pm
I like this! A lot~! It's just a shame adding more stones makes you have to use either many maps/colonies, massive maps, or some multi-layer mining mod. All are painfully buggy, laggy options. >.<
But if you're patient enough to do the DF frame-crawl in Rimworld, you can now have gorgeous bases with this mod!

Not sure why jet is 'the worst'? It's semi-precious IRL. Also Rutile is an ore containing titanium and some trace other exotic metals. Any plan to utilize this? Since Rimworlders have advanced tech and dwarves just have cheese obsessions.
Holgast  [author] 26 Nov, 2020 @ 3:12pm
I think I'll modify the stats a bit after more research. I talked to some chem friends and density alone is not necessarily a good indicator of strength 😅It's kinda hard to find good stats on these minerals
Holgast  [author] 26 Nov, 2020 @ 1:27pm
Hey, thanks for your comment. I had considered making a spreadsheet/table comparing the stats to vanilla and possibly Extra Stone, but I haven't gotten around to doing this yet. I should be able to whip one up later today after work.
andrewjonjones 26 Nov, 2020 @ 11:52am
What are the stone densities like (how do walls hitpoints compare with Granite walls, do they have more or less)?
Holgast  [author] 25 Nov, 2020 @ 5:51am
Whoa, big compliment; you're welcome! I sat on releasing this for a while, it took a little bit of tweaking to get the right colours for the natural stone. that didn't just make your eyes bleed when looking at big chunks of it. I think the built floors might still be too saturated, but I won't change those if people like it.
Halfelfaedyn 25 Nov, 2020 @ 5:47am
This is really beautiful, thank you!
Holgast  [author] 25 Nov, 2020 @ 2:46am
I don't really like the art in that one, but since you did remind me I'll add it
