I think it would be interesting if they performed just like other Roman frontline infantry except really low morale and lower upkeep. The morale could be fixed if the general/veteran/patrician for the army has maybe a retainer or perk that buffs slave soldier morale by a large amount.

Question: Are they cheap, do they have high deffensive and attack mele, do they have no armor and very low weapon damage and are they extreamly large units? Can you update or make a mod that allows them to be recruitable by anyone the turn after a slave rebelion in areas that have a resource (that would require a need for them in the labor force)? Also, would it be possible for you to do what fander1980 sugested?
i know but i choose the pilum because it's a cheap weapon and i think it fits in.
Or maybe you have a better idea how to make them recruitworthy
