@F22MUCH That is the same as before, 40x the weight. I just lowered the minimum weapon weight for strength xp. So lighter weapons will still give a little xp. Heavier weapons will still give more xp but lighter weapons will now give some too. Then boosted the overall strength xp gain from fighting in general.

Great mod. Also, how is the strength requirement for weapons calculated now?

@Sanae Kochiyastein, Martial Arts has it's own rules for strength gain that I did not touch. The rules I changed were how heavy a weapon must be to gain strength and the global strength gain multiplier for combat. So, Martial Arts is affected by this mod because ALL forms of combat are affected. However, since Martial Artists don't use weapons that aspect of the mod is not in play.
I also slightly reduced the maximum gain for walking with a heavy load to balance this (from 50% to 35%). That does not affect combat but may slightly affect martial arts gains in between fights.

Does this mod also works when you are overencumbered and fight? Because training a martial artist with heavy gear, a backpack with plenty of ore in the inventory while punching a bunch of crabs for a long while made the strenght stat go to 90. To be fair, the character did had like 75 of strenght when I started to train the martial arts stat, but it still impressed me to get to that point

What I said above apparently also applies when a character uses the same logic, but using a lighter weapon, for instance, katanas. But hey, I like that this mod not only works with heavy weapons, because even if a character uses light gear and light weapons, having strenght is mandatory in Kenshi, so I like that I can train everyone with this mod :beeped:

@Sembo its okay at least i can tweak it like i want to with the tips you gave me, i appreciate it thank you
Sembo  [author] 10 Nov, 2024 @ 8:57am
@Mehdi I nerfed carrying things for balance reasons. If I hadn't there isn't much reason to do things differently from vanilla. So no, I won't be making another version. However, it's really easy to edit the mod for your game. There are a few guides on how to do that in steam discussion threads and reddit. Once you get my mod open in FCS just click "global settings" and find "xp rate strength from walking." Change it to what you like.
Mehdi 9 Nov, 2024 @ 6:46pm
the mod is exactly what i want strength to be like in the game, and i really don't see me playing the game without it, i just wish the reduction to grind when carrying things wasn't that rough
Mehdi 9 Nov, 2024 @ 6:43pm
hey can you do a version that does not lower that much the strength gain when walking and hauling things cuz i think strength is really hard to get up that, my character always end up being kinda unbalanced
Sembo  [author] 9 Nov, 2024 @ 8:35am
@Aris No import required, it can be enabled and disabled as you like without issue.
Aris 8 Nov, 2024 @ 5:20pm
Hey, cool mod! Can I enable/disable it without problems or do I need importing or something?
Sembo  [author] 26 Sep, 2024 @ 1:51pm
@DragonsRemnant Glad it still works! Thanks for being thorough and replying.
DragonsRemnant 26 Sep, 2024 @ 10:17am
@sembo After testing with your explanation the mod is working as it should i apologize for wasting your time but do appreciate the summary for me to better understand how the mod itself works so I can explain to others in the future thank you.
Sembo  [author] 25 Sep, 2024 @ 2:30pm
@DragonsRemnant I just looked through the patch notes, which as you may know is very sparse. AFAIK nothing should have changed for this mod. The experience modifier listed on your character sheet WILL NOT CHANGE. That is just the percentage of experience gain you get. The change is in the amount of strength XP gained based on weapon weight and the multiplier for global strength gain from combat. Neither of those are shown on the character sheet.

To test whether it works or not you will need to run some combat simulations. Not just looking at the character sheet. If, after running some simulations with and without the mod you still don't see a difference then I will reinstall the game and take a closer look.
DragonsRemnant 24 Sep, 2024 @ 12:21pm
does this mod currently still work for those using it and if so what exactly should i be looking at? Just asking as I did a comparison to vanilla and the exp modifier was the same with and without the mod utilizing all the same gear sorry if i'm missing something obvious only thing i actively noticed was I was capped at 35% walking exp which looks correct for nerfing that but did not see any increases anywhere
Sembo  [author] 23 Sep, 2024 @ 11:25am
@orkboi Don't know, haven't played with UWE. In fact, I haven't played Kenshi in over a year at this point. It's a fairly simple mod however so likely it will just be whichever mod is lower in the list as to which takes effect over the specific stats.

@Minion MA has it's own strength gain system and this mod does not affect that. Check the wiki for more info on how MA strength gain works.
Minion 12 Sep, 2024 @ 3:02pm
how are you supposed to level a martial artists strength?
Orkboi 1 Sep, 2024 @ 9:26am
does this work with UWE?
Sembo  [author] 31 Jul, 2024 @ 9:58am
Fries is correct for easiest gain. Another, not-quite-as-easy-but-more-afk method is to set your guys to block and go piss off a murder giraffe. Blocking counts for strength gain just as much as hitting does.
GrunD_8 29 Jul, 2024 @ 2:34am
Thank you fries

It's time to share my secret.

Fragment axe versus swamp turtles.

Thank me later.

@HTOScoutMctartan: The mod does affect all characters in the game. However, this is true even without the mod. So if you put your base near a town the guards will be in your reality bubble as long as you leave anyone in that base. So they will be fighting off bandits regularly and getting stronger. This mod just makes it happen faster. It's especially noticeable with Shek because they already use heavy weaponry and have a racial bonus to strength gain. Anything outside of your reality bubble (despawned) will not get stronger.
HTOScoutMctartan 10 Aug, 2023 @ 4:20pm
Does this effects NPCs as well? I notice the gate guards are getting absurdly swole, then again this is my first playthrough so maybe that's normal.
Chimaera 15 Jun, 2023 @ 10:52am
great mod

Нужный мод и в оригинал

Thank you for actually fixing the most boring stat. So many mods either make you an Olympic athlete day 1 or beat around the issue by making ways to train it via training dummy. This makes it way more in line with all other combat stats
Caba da Muleste da Paçoca 24 Jan, 2022 @ 5:02pm
this is perfect, i would usually on most game starts just lure bandits into town, sell their loot to buy food, and then carry corpses and iron. but then raising strength past 80 this way is extremely slow even for a Shek. This mod is perfect :beeped:
Sembo  [author] 24 Jan, 2021 @ 7:36pm
@Royal Tuscan I think you can modify the playable races to all have a dex gain of 1.4x. Each race has an xp multiplyer for dex and str gain. You could make a mod that changes only the playable races.
Royal Tuscan 23 Jan, 2021 @ 3:55am
@sembo Yeah i looked into it and found where you had edited, and the game simply wont allow a Dex version of this mod :(, im hapy with the str gain rates, i just wanted to match the dex to it, but i would have to set every characters dex gain to like 1.4 % and thats just a bit too much IMO, but great mod, i use it all the time!
Sembo  [author] 22 Jan, 2021 @ 3:20pm
@Royal Tuscan It was all done in FCS in the global settings. IIRC there is no direct modifier for dex. You could reduce the gain modifier I put in for strength so that it better matches dex gains. Or use lighter weaponry with more cut damage like katanas and ninja blades
Royal Tuscan 17 Jan, 2021 @ 12:59pm
Q, how did you mod this in? i wanna increase the dex gain from dex wepaons because my str is way out leveling my dex now, not too fast but faster than dex, wanna even it out a little?
Ihyde 1 Dec, 2020 @ 1:02pm
Perfect :D
