Is there any way to play Scythia as nomadic?
RorschachInk 18 Jul @ 10:05am
Hey again, love your mod. I wanted to try the new nomad stuff. I am confused why I don't get the form Scythia decision. I have a custom culture that has amazonian warriors/ matriarchy decisions. I own most of modern Ukraine/ Zaprozih. Do I need Greater Scythia? Do I need Scythia culture. I though my custom culture would count as amazonion for have those two traditions

Are there any conflicting mods? The Lesbian Cocktail Party event cannot be held because there are 0 guests participating.
fhqwhgads  [author] 2 Jul @ 11:25pm
@hamletsdead I don't have any concrete plans for additional unique culture traditions soon, but I can't say for certain what the future holds. There's a lot of other things I have in mind to focus on first is the only thing, and I haven't been doing modding lately due to various other IRL projects (some of which are starting to ease off, so perhaps a return will come around the time of the Coronation DLC).
hamletsdead 1 Jul @ 6:17pm
Love your mod, thanks and kudos for the work! Any chance you'll be adding unique cultural tradition icons?
Eliphas The Inheritor 1 Jul @ 12:12pm
@fhqwhgads Thank you
fhqwhgads  [author] 30 Jun @ 10:12pm
@Eliphas the Inheritor It was included in the mod years ago but I separated them, so you'll need to enable Traditional Tenets separately to use both. They are compatible with each other (I made this change so people could choose whatever religious mod they wanted to run with this mod).
Eliphas The Inheritor 30 Jun @ 11:42am
Apologise if this is a question that is answered in the description but is Traditional Tenets included in this mod or do I need to enable it alongside?
fhqwhgads  [author] 29 Jun @ 1:40pm
@Darviathar It's something I have considered, but for the moment I'm not sure how reliably I'd be able to keep women on the throne, so I haven't yet implemented it. It is something that I'd like to one day implement as part of the matriarchal dynasty perks.
Darviathar 20 Jun @ 1:30pm
I noticed my AI Scythian ally has the trait "Defiant Amazon". The description reminds me of the old Lesbocracy ability to declare matriarchical war against other realms, and force them to install a female on their throne, without vassalizing them. Is that mechanic obtainable at some point with your mod?
东宫门里伏金剑 17 Jun @ 8:13pm
@fhqwhgads True enough. It is already solved. Thanks!
fhqwhgads  [author] 17 Jun @ 7:35am
@东宫门里伏金剑 I believe this is intended to be the case if your religion has the Monogamous marriage doctrine. If it happened when your faith had the Concubines doctrine, that is in error.
东宫门里伏金剑 17 Jun @ 4:47am
After the religious reformation, it was taught that in lesbian marriages, whatever the system of concubines, there could be only one concubine and the concubines could only be male, and when I made women concubines, it did not work.
千早爱音 7 Jun @ 3:11am
Although the author has removed the words "Conquer Persia" from Taumuriya's preview, this is still the part I'm most looking forward to among the content I can anticipate for now.
fhqwhgads  [author] 6 Jun @ 10:32pm
I've made an upload that attempts to fix the decision menu lag based on the info I got from the script watcher. Lemme know if you notice any difference.
son of Auguest 5 Jun @ 11:04am
But I recently switched to a new computer with a new CPU 9950x3d, which may also be the key issue. You can test it yourself
fhqwhgads  [author] 5 Jun @ 10:58am
If it was only recently that this problem came into be then it's probably one of the new decisions, and I suspect it's probably Reforge Scythia. I can change that.
son of Auguest 5 Jun @ 9:10am
@fhqwhgads very very lag,but last version is running find
fhqwhgads  [author] 5 Jun @ 8:49am
I haven't really noticed such lag, but I can look into some of the decisions that track things like Amazon favor or enemy military strength (though the latter is also used by a base game steppe decision which is why I thought it'd be safe to use).

If it's not one of those decisions then I don't really know what could be causing it. I presume it's either the Amazon alliance decisions which show your dynasty's current Amazon favor, or the Reforge Scythia decision which uses a script value which searches for the military strength of many different rulers. Either would be fairly safe to alter; even though I like showing that information to the player if it's causing lag then that's not worth it.
son of Auguest 4 Jun @ 6:34am
After enabling this mod, the Decisions interface experiences significant lag. There are no issues with other parts of the game. I've tested this by disabling all other mods, and I'm certain this mod is the one causing the issue. Do you have any ideas/ on this issue.I didn't have this problem before with this mod
fhqwhgads  [author] 27 May @ 12:10pm
IIRC the holy site of Sparta is actually a "defunct" base game holy site which was a holy site for Hellenism but removed in one of the updates. The holy site still exists in the code, it's just unused, and I just re-enabled it for Heraionism. Moving it would essentially mean creating a whole new holy site.

It's something I'll consider addressing in one way or another, but I can't promise anything right now.
Dlinktp 27 May @ 9:02am
Yeah but it's existence prevents building a great temple there since I think counties can only have 1 special building? Not the biggest deal or even anything you should probably care about but you could move the holy site like an inch just to let the temple be built.
fhqwhgads  [author] 26 May @ 11:44pm
The Despot's Palace I don't believe has any sort of religion requirement, so I dunno if I'll necessarily add a building there. It's possible though. I did the Hagia Sophia because it's potentially the capital of Amazonia/Expanded Themiscyra (there's even a decision for it) and had a permanently locked special building, which felt a bit bad.
Dlinktp 26 May @ 7:49pm
Oh converting hagia sophia is neat! If you're looking for other buildings, one of the heraionic holy site buildings is occupied by I think the despot's palace preventing you from building a great temple there. A decision to clear it would be neat too.
fhqwhgads  [author] 26 May @ 1:10pm
Oh, and there are a few things I forgot to put in the changelog. For example, I added a decision to swap the Parthenon building back in for Heraionics. It can also be used by Hellenic and Christian rulers to swap between buildings. I've also added a Heraion at Byzantion building to replace the Hagia Sophia, and a decision to swap between them.

This is only for Heraionic religions, so I'm throwing a few things in there even for non-steppe rulers. With that said the bookmark Taumuriya is now, imo, a really good start for a nomad run, so if you're interested and don't know where to start I recommend it!
fhqwhgads  [author] 24 May @ 4:02pm
@Dlinktp I deliberately made admin not qualify for the flavorization, at least for now. That will probably change in the future.

The envoy should be available whether you're culturally an Amazon or have an alliance. If you aren't building an alliance, however, its function is mainly to enable the Amazon Training events.
Dlinktp 24 May @ 2:22pm
Is the new envoy court position for if you're not amazonian specifically? Also, not the biggest deal but going admin reverts themiscyra back to kingdom.
fhqwhgads  [author] 23 May @ 8:18am
I am seeing some reports of general instability in the new patch, and Paradox even mentioned on the official forums that they'll probably need to deploy another hotfix, even though this was supposed to be the last one for a while. So that'll make it a bit harder to see what problems this mod is causing versus what's the base game messing up. I'll be doing my best to deal with that!
fhqwhgads  [author] 23 May @ 12:01am
As always thanks for the patience. I have tried to do as much testing as I can and make certain things work and feel good but it's always possible I've missed something, so be sure to report any obvious bugs or odd behavior with this new update.

Note that the change to Tabitism's funeral tradition won't take effect until you start a new game. There's no particular problem with this, just something to be aware of. It won't break anything if it's still bewailing funeral.
fhqwhgads  [author] 22 May @ 7:21am
The change to knight strength will probably result in a decrease of the power of Amazon armies so keep that in mind.
fhqwhgads  [author] 20 May @ 10:28am
So Paradox says the patch will be coming out "later this week", which means I'm going to hold off my planned update until then so I can adjust things for the new patch. Don't expect I'll have to change much, as I have gone out of my way to overwrite as little vanilla code as possible, but some things may be affected. But I may have time to slip in some additional features like a "special building replacer" decision to put the Parthenon back in Athens (Paradox may fix this bug, but this would mean I wouldn't need to overwrite the base game Parthenon).
fhqwhgads  [author] 20 May @ 12:39am
@Dlinktp It's no prob, sometimes things happen. Just trying to make sure my code is solid going forward.
Dlinktp 19 May @ 8:04pm
I have no idea how/if another mod could possibly have compatibility issues since I only use qol and cosmetic ones but unsubscribing and resubscribing and trying with only this one enabled let me do it on a new run. Sorry for the bother.
fhqwhgads  [author] 19 May @ 6:24pm
@Dlinktp I really don't know, the default Scythian culture should start with Scythian heritage, which is the only requirement. I can build it in my test games with that culture. If it's still a problem after I update let me know.
Dlinktp 19 May @ 1:58pm
It was just base scythian without any changes. I had to manually change the files to allow me to build it.
fhqwhgads  [author] 19 May @ 1:58pm
I have an update about ready to deploy, but I'm going to hold off to see if Paradox drops a patch tomorrow. Tuesday is their usual day for this sort of thing and there's hinting on reddit, so we'll see. If they say they're going to patch in the next few days, but if it's a week or longer I'll go ahead and drop this update.
fhqwhgads  [author] 19 May @ 12:20am
@Dlinktp I think the patch broke the ability to swap between special buildings. Many people are reporting the same for other buildings like the Hagia Sophia in the base game. It's something that I may fix at a later point in time, but I'm getting close to releasing an update and don't want to try and cram that in before I update, sorry. I'll try to get in something before the next one (it'll also prevent me from having to overwrite the Parthenon so it's a worthwhile thing to do).

As for the yurt building, it's also possible that I had stricter restrictions in the version you're playing with? I can't remember now. I don't think so, it should be there. Heck it should appear on the list and be something that has a tooltip that says why you can't build it. I mean, surely you can check the culture for yourself and see if it has the tradition in your game? It is possible that it lost the tradition somehow.
Dlinktp 18 May @ 10:12pm
Does scythian not start with it? I could not build it as a scythian nomad. I might be misremembering but you used to be able to upgrade athens into a heraionic temple, right? I can't do that atm.
fhqwhgads  [author] 18 May @ 7:35pm
@ 千早爱音 It is not a high priority at the moment since I've been focusing more on Steppe content, but it will be added at some point.

@Dlinktp The specific requirement is the Scythian Heritage culture tradition. Keep in mind that this is an internal upgrade for the Yurt of Warriors i.e. the knight-focused building, it isn't its own building.
千早爱音 18 May @ 12:46am
When does the author plan to create story content about the Scythians' conquest of Persia?
Dlinktp 17 May @ 5:22am
Is there an extra requirement to build the hetairoi (heavy cav) yurt other than being scythian?
fhqwhgads  [author] 13 May @ 9:02am
Still, even without infidelity, under Lesbian Divinity or Sapphic Exaltation, even heterosexual women will marry other women, at which point if they married a homosexual/bisexual woman it's very likely their partner will attempt the scheme. I may add something in this space in the future where heterosexual characters in such marriages may receive an event to change their orientation.

I admit it's something I don't think about personally a lot since I tend to go full-on Polyamory all the time, but I know not everyone plays that way.
fhqwhgads  [author] 13 May @ 8:56am
@Derah Both of them will encourage the AI to use the Convert scheme more often. I should note it does go quicker if you, at least at first, use the scheme to convert some of your own heterosexual vassals (since, obviously, only homosexual/bisexual women will use the scheme in the first place).

There are other factors to consider, notably the matter of infidelity. The AI still considers using the scheme to be "cheating", so if they're the type to not cheat on their partner they won't use it. To some degree you can simply allow female adultery, but it doesn't have a full effect unless your faith has Polyamory, at which point nothing is considered "cheating" anymore and everyone will be willing to use the scheme.

There is a small background event that will flip the sexuality of female clergy of a lesbian faith.
Derah 13 May @ 8:45am
So I have a new question then.

When creating a custom faith, what's the difference between Lesbian Divinity and Sapphic Exaltation?

Both of these cause the AI to do that Convert Scheme?
Derah 13 May @ 8:32am
Ohhh, that part I did not know. About the mass-use of Convert to slowly turn the population into Lesbians overtime.

Now that I have that context, yeah, I can see it making more sense and being a little bit more realistic than a magical Gay Switch lol.
fhqwhgads  [author] 13 May @ 7:33am
@Derah I'm not sure that's necessarily needed, seems a little "fantasy" to me. I find that if you have a religion with one of the lesbian doctrines, followers of the faith will slowly become vast majority lesbian/bisexual over a few generations (due to the AI using Convert schemes and encouraging their children to explore the idea), which feels more natural to me. I dunno, to me the option to just have a doctrine that when added to the faith instantly turns every adherent homosexual is a bit much.
Derah 13 May @ 7:17am
Hey there! Great mod! I was wondering though if it would be possible for you to add one key feature from Sapho's Daughter here. In that mod, there's a custom religion that turns every female adherent into a lesbian.

I was wondering if there was a way to do that here too.
fhqwhgads  [author] 12 May @ 2:04pm
Their stats are actually pretty baseline, the main thing is I've tried to make them "interesting" by having them get some decent traits here and there. Stuff like herbalist, traveler, hastiluder, hunter, blademaster, etc.. Pretty much every Amazon ends up with some assortment of traits I felt were appropriate. Those traits come with skill boosts that tend to make the "low to decent" skill rating I've assigned as their spread boost into very competent numbers, though it can be somewhat random. Weighted random, as I've tried to make the especially relevant traits like strong and athletic much more common, but still random.

I can try and lower their baseline stats to some degree, but I don't know how much difference it will make. The standouts will still stand out a lot, though it'll probably make the lower rolls more noticeable.
Qjuwert 12 May @ 1:50am
I suggest you add a game rule for choosing between two or more templates for Amazonian Warriors, when you have that look over of the Amazonian Warrior template.

I like that the Amazonian warriors are always interesting characters that you'd like to have in your court, but I find that they are generally all to well rounded characters, making 100% of my 'natural' characters obsolete.

A template option could be "Warriors only" So they are only exceptional in martial and prowess, but on average mediocre with the remaining traits.
Another option could be "Random Specialty" or something, where they are skilled warriors + one more thing. To have a more powerful option for people who like the powerful courtiers.

Regardless I like the mod, it's a clear staple of my mod-list weather or not I plan to become a matriarchal dynasty.
fhqwhgads  [author] 11 May @ 7:52pm
Today's update may cause some degree of save-breaking due to adding a new faith. Unfortunately, if I want to add a new faith, I know of no way around this, so I thought to get it out early in the content's life cycle (honestly I wanted it out even earlier, but I kept adjusting small things here and there which kept pushing it back). Hopefully doing this ahead of time will avoid save-breaking in the future updates. I don't know if it will cause outright crashes or anything, but it may cause weirdness.
