the game was coded like this so that the Ai don't only spam high tier units like in AOW3. i did increased ressource priorities for higher tier units and should have allowed it to be able to fill 90% of its armies of the same unit if it wants to. but ultimately i am not sure if it does really work as intended. the modding tools may have lots of options but we may be limited by what's hard coded.

sorry for the late reply. i kinda stopped all activities for planetfall a long time ago and didn't got any notifications from steam about new comments. i just randomly came here and noticed all the new comments...

_i didn't checked any buildings priorities. so these problems may also be in vanilla.
_i feel like thats maybe why the devs limited the number of AI cities. honestly thats a problem i didn't thought of. i don't think this is solvable unless i put back the city limit.
_it is indeed kinda easy to request stuff via diplomacy... the boost in cosmite was for it to get enough ressources to push the Ai in getting more mods for its units. the best way to fix this would be to try and find a way to limit what an Ai can trade with another player. dumno if that option exist within the modding tool we have.

Great mod! Makes AI a bit more hard.
But also I've noticed few issues:
- Most colonies have Basic Research Building. Not Food one. In general AIs' cities tend to grow to 10-12, including HQ. I play on extreme difficulty. When my colonies have 24-26 colonists, AI's usually have 10-12, rarely 16.
- AIs spam cities but every city has 2-3 sectors at max. So conquering is very tedious, because you have a lot of small colonies (I don't usually raze them). And with this another imperfection shows - AI don't know which city to defend while invaded. It's many stacks are scattered and rarely come to HQ to defend.
- It's very easy to request cosmite: 10-20 per turn from any AI with non aggression pack and higher. So I can get even 50-60 cosmite per turn while I get 10-15 from buildings and nodes. This makes game very easy, especially when I can put tier IV mods on units on turn 10.

Is there anything you can do to change this?

This MOD is great!:steamthumbsup:

But it still won't equip the T4 unit with mod ,and AI always produces lot of T1 unit after 50 rounds。。。these led to weakness for ai at late of game。

@steelwork I consider unshackling AI`s expanding potential as changing AI behavior when making the difference between vanilla AI behavior. This seems to have been done so that it gives the player a considerable handicap through easy to hard opponents, aimed for people who arent familiar with XXXX-games. I enjoy that the AI doesnt have too much monetary handicap, while playing hard AI, but I would like them to Xpand more if they have the possibility to do so, and then punish the possibly lazy player, aka. me.

"Very hard" difficulty is pretty much optimum for semi serious games, for me atleast, and the matches feel sometimes really nicely tight in difficulty (I play medium maps with 8 AI`s, in mostly land), but I still feel that I could up my gameplay if the AI opponents would be unshackled.

TLD: I want the AI to be more brutal on lower difficulties than the hardest difficulty.

you can't really change AI behavior. only mess with some values to try and make it more challenging...

as for changing max more cities than players for lower difficulties you just need to edit the file named "StrategicAI.rpk".

i wonder why you would want to have a pure vanilla experience just with unlocked more cities.
that change in max city will only really impact slow expanding players on very big maps anyway.
AI can still take over enemy cities despite the limit and player taking over cities will increase the limit.

@steelwork Could you make a mod with only the "AI is able to have 9999 more cities than player" option? Would love to play the lower difficulties with AI being able to expand as much as they are able.

Tried to do it myself, but the modding the AI behavior isnt in any youtube video <0.0> And so I am unable to do the mod myself.

little update for those who still find the game too easy and wants the thrill of playing against even more cheating AI.

only the ressource multiplier got doubled (and only for max difficulty) and not the base ressources to avoid an AI player to still be able to crank out massive armies even when it has only one city left.

I was using MoreBoom, More Survey Spot, Longer Shotguns, Free Nanite Injectors, Build_Strocture ver1.51 and All Units; One Figure. Only managed to finish the game by building buttload of cheap strat ops structures around AI's capital city.

I recently had a crash just after one AI defeated another, right when it killed enemy's commander and took it's capital. Not sure if it's related tho, as I use other mods aswell. Will try with different combinations of mods. Alas, this mod is really cool (I've never encountered hard AI using any t3 units before), so I'd like to keep it. Thanks for your work, buddy :)

Yea i can confirm that tis mod is still activated on my game and i just cleared a small planet in the empire mode, so it work fine. On my end at least.

i may have found a fix to the turn 1 crash thanks to some community members
so you can keep your hops up. the mod may become crash free in the near future :)

most players don't have any problem playing this mod. (asked some random and a friend to test the mod and they did not have any crash...)
only a selected few like you and me have this crash at turn 1.

and since this happen with every mod i try to make i guess the problem comes from the game itself or the modding tool...

i asked the devs for help, sended them log file and made a bug report but to no avail.

i even reinstalled the game but the issue is still there.

so atm i am only able to update the mod (since it is just value tweaking) for those who can play with it but i am unable to test it..
the last update i did was just a qick unit mod fix from a bug report i had on the game's discord.

sorry for the bad news.

if you ever find a solution to this problem do tell me! :)

Yea this crash on turn 1 is a pain, do you know if your mod is still doing it ? Im doing the round of all of my mods and removing those that are not crucial, but i would love to keep this one.

after some testing the modding tool seems to be at fault. i created a testing mod that changed nothing and it still crashed the game..
