Whatever your machine can tolerate. Of course too many can make it impossible to progress but that also depends on your strategy and terrain use. 20-50 is a decent "norm" though.

Whats the recommended number of bots?

Alright.

佷有趣,也很nice,但是AI不会开车去行动,这对进攻方非常的不有利:ops:

@Emergency Food just recommends. I hate the only way to add that stuff makes it sound like INSTALL OR IT NO WORK rather than a list of best suited addons for the theme/area/setting.

I'd actually forgot about the original black ops when I made these. I was more interested in getting a Blizzard fix combined with listening to the real UVB-76 numbers station.

Yes Spec Ops works great...at least thus far. There is always a chance I've not had it do something stupid in my play testing. Sadly SpecOps while getting better has some issues with spawning things on roofs and other crazy stuff. Like wise there is a chance it might spawn you in the chasm or some other place that breaks it but all my SpecOps play tests worked perfectly which really compliments the setting of the maps.

@Wolffe Commander well I won't make promises but one of the last few maps I'm planning on making requires something similar so I've been working out ways to do it without the z-order texture BS. If I get it to work I can in theory bring it to these maps...if it doesn't the map I want to make most won't happen at all.
Orion 9 Jan, 2021 @ 2:53pm
And just to be sure, does Spec Ops work well with this mode?
Orion 9 Jan, 2021 @ 2:52pm
Are the requirements actually required or are they just recommendations? Also.

THE NUMBERS MASON! WHAT DO THEY MEAN?!

I'm getting vibes from that one level in BO1, is that what you were going for?

About the Temple map, it was during the first few days of that map's release that it had snow depth. Now, it is how it is today, much to my disappointment

@Wolffe Commander PT 2. When I get my last 3 maps done I may return to this for snow drifts and snow depth. I think the only way I can do it without the game pulling BS is to export the terrain as a RAW, then edit things outside in a way that removes the edge shadowing (sadly probably collision with verticals) and rounds in the correct places. I'd also like to retweak my snow. I find the depth is always wrong because there is some mathematical shenanigans with particle sizes once the input switches to exponentials.

@Wolffe Commander no cry! z-order has harmony again! heh Honestly I'd love to have kept it but the flickering is brutal. Not that there is a limit to how much the games "limits" piss me off but the gliches and gotchas I encountered trying to add the snow depth was pretty lame. It should be completely feasible. When I figured out how to trick Unity into duplicating without linking the terrain I was like HAZZAH!...then I saw the nasty edge shadows and obvious collision lines. It's set up to just be a douche every step of the way. Not sure if you read my release notes about it but I also checked with Temple (shifty eyes) from the *cough* source and there is no snow depth, just normal geometry collision issues with angles.

Anyways it is what I asked you delivered. Thank you very much for listening to my inputs!

PT 1. @Wolffe Commander you definitely can't just add a white texture over the ground because you'll lose any texturing or geometry for the ground/map. Normally to do this properly you'd be using a specific API but it's not possible with RF. However I toyed with something similar to what you said below where I made a model of a "patch" of snow and added it along the walkable sections but you end up with it looking crap, rogue shadows and just a lot of work for a really crap result. In the end I thought about duplicating the terrain, removing collision and raising it a smidge above the real terrain. This worked, but only due to the fog. On the vertical plains the texture separation isn't as great and it can look nasty (load the map "at night" and you'll see).

PT 2. I thought about a tad higher but I think a "foots worth" gives the effect. I was already into the decimal places of positioning. So for example .1 is what I used, .2 raises it to where it's at the characters knees already. So while I could have done .12 I figured as long as the feet are sinking in it works. I'd like to have crunchy foot step sounds and tons else but the kit is just too limiting. Plus I gripe about Unity plenty because RF is being built on a fairly old, outdated version which is/was technically a beta (unstable) for me so it glitches and does all kinds of crap to waste time and make things difficult.
Wolffe Commander 6 Jan, 2021 @ 9:58am
just tested, looks great! A tad bit higher would be nice but overall it is exactly what I am talking about!
Wolffe Commander 6 Jan, 2021 @ 9:54am
just adding a generic white texture over the ground could work over the ground. To me it seems pretty simple but idk the more indepth steps to such actions, but I will continue to provide feedback.

@Wolffe Commander I thought about your suggestion and how I could do it without some type of bump mapping API and I think I have figured out a way without adding a ton of overhead. I should have an update with it later today but Unity pulled a Unity and screwed up all my textures. The unstable beta RF uses is a real piece of dog *&#%. Old, broken...nuff said.

@Wolffe Commander Ah I gotcha. Not sure how that's done or if it's even available in the kit. There are a lot of things I'd like to do but the kit is brutally limiting/broken.
Wolffe Commander 5 Jan, 2021 @ 9:41am
No, its more about giving the snow on the ground more depth. In the early days of Ravenfield on steam, the Temple map had a great example of this. The white snow texture was a bit higher above actual plane where bots would walk, which gives the illusion that the snow was ankle deep (instead of now, where the white texture is where the ground is). Dead bodies would be partially covered, which with the weather, made it more immersive that there is a fight in a blizzard.

@Saint_Jimmy997 @Toroi The Dragon There actually is a message...Viktor Reznov sends his regards. :) Technically the message had something hidden in it as a watermark because of aholes like VIP Mods. In the newest update I obscured it a tad more in the camp version over the radio so you have to find and listen for a pattern to figure out what it is. I'd be surprised if anyone listens enough to figure it out. Numbers stations are obnoxious. I used to put on the real UVB-76 and my roommate would lose her mind. Hours of buzzing with the extremely rare moment when a voice comes on and says anything. I kinda miss the cold war curtain of fear and mystery around this stuff so I like listening once in a while to the real thing thanks to SDR (Software Defined Radio).
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 5 Jan, 2021 @ 2:11am
@Wolffe Commander not sure what you mean. Do you mean like swirling snow on the ground? Technically it's there but the rendering limitations make it less than obvious. There are technically much better ways to do this with much less CPU overhead but they are not available in the RF tool kit or the ancient version of Unity it's running on.

it would be nice to have a plane of snow that is higher thank the ground to add some depth to the ground.
