My black carapace mod has a zeus module to reapply its armor system on already initialised units, someday I might update this mod to include something similar.
Armor protection values are the same for players and AI. If they die too quick make sure your ace medical settings are appropriate, if you are using it.
Is there a script I can apply to force/make sure that they have whole power armor thingy working?
