As each event is conditioned to the previous one being done, the chain was broken.
All your problems must stem front that point on and can only be fixed if you can go back to that point.
As I mentioned to you before, event are conditioned on population number, raiders killed number, Era and techs unlocked.
The raiders killed is the culprit, this number is evaluated on the average of raiders killed during a raid. Not all are killed as some escape so the number is guessed. I you do not kill the required number of raiders in a raid, the next event will not trigger and things will start to go wrong.
If you look at the oldest auto save you still have for the scenario and give me:
The population number
The Era
The total number of raiders killed so far
I can modify the script to accommodate you and get your game going.
The number of raiders killed is most certainly the one causing the problem.
As I asked below, "Can you tell me what Era you are in, your population number and how many raiders you have killed so far. I might be able to get you back on track." this on your last save.
I could tell you how to get back into the game.
For your animals, do you have enough stable space?
2) i know that animals in carts or plows stay out in winter,the problem is that every single animal,goats,sheeps,pigs etc,they just dont get inside in winter for protection,they just chill out waiting for spring xD
First of all, thank you for your comment.
1 - You start in Paleolithic so you mean you did not get any raids?
2 - In this scenario you get your first raid in Paleo after "Yarev" a young boy enters the village and warns you of approaching raiders. He must stay alive for raid to happen.
3 - For every raid, there is an event prior to the raid, people are spawned with a name, these people must be alive to trigger the coming raid.
4 - not all animals go inside in Winter, if attached to carts or plows they stay outdoors. this is a mechanic of the game and is not influenced by the scenario.
I think you must have missed something, the scenario requires that in every Era you unlock all the techs and keep spawning characters alive until the following raid.
Each event is triggered when certain techs are unlocked together with population numbers as raider's numbers are tied to you population number.
It could be that you are not killing enough raiders in each raid. I gave it a good margin to satisfy different player's game but you must have fallen behind.
Can you tell me what Era you are in, your population number and how many raiders you have killed so far. I might be able to get you back on track.
I am sorry to hear of your problem.
I think it is due to "Ordehl", a warrior spawned when your population reaches 420 must have died.
Having him alive is a condition for the next raider's attack of 200 raiders.
If you want to continue your save, go to the scenario's files here:'C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\858810\2400680633'
open the file 'survival.scn.xml' at the bottom, delete the 2 iterations of '<condition type="IsAlive" name="Ordehl"/>' save and start your save.
If I am right you should be able to finish the scenario.
I have added a new event at the end which should allow you to continue after the 440 pop message.
I hope this will fix the problem, please let me know.
The 440 pop message is the last message, you have then the ability to continue playing with raider's attacks between 140 and 180 every 2 years or so.
What do you mean by "Game wouldn't let me continue afterwards" in what way?
It is a challenge to get to Neolithic as it was the aim of this scenario.
I know that it can frustrate some players but I made my choice to keep it that way, not all scenarios are for every body.
I am glad you enjoyed it and thank you again for your feedback.
For future players who find it too hard, you can edit the "scn.xml file" and modify the following:
<!-- Migration Paleolithic-->
<event>
<condition type="EraUnlocked" era="Paleolithic"/>
<actions>
<action type="SetMigrationParameters" min="3" max="4" period="1y" variance="0.3y" decrease_start_population="100" decrease_halfing_population="100"/>
<action type="SetKnowledgeParameters" tech_cost_multiplier="2.5"/>
<action type="SetTraderPeriod" value="1.5y"/>
</actions>
</event>
Change the knowledge parameter to anything below "2.5"
Starting over again and I realize I need to use a very specific tech progression to survive through the early game, gotta get to domestication fast to really stand a chance or the timer will just run out on you and you'll have a permanent deficit of skins.
As the title says, it is a story of survival.
However, I have just increased the number of wild animals again.
I have also increased the trader's visit frequency for skin trade.
Hope this will help you.
Any save should not be affected by the changes.
Good luck.
Do you domesticate animals? this should be your source of meat and skins from the Neolithic.
However, I just increased the number of wild animals, just make sure to update the files, your save should be fine.
Let me know if this improves your play.
I last played this scenario quite some time ago and can't remember the details.
I did play it right to the end a couple of times after creating the scenario and did not encounter any problem with game to hunt.
You might have to look further afield for game, and don't forget that animal domestication is a must when you reach a certain population number.
This scenario was not meant to be easy.
Look in some post below for ways to adjust game animals numbers.
You can also adjust trader's visit frequencies in the same file.
If you need further assistance, let me know.
change the following:
<condition type="EntityCountComparison" counter="KilledRaiders" comparison="GreaterOrEquals" value="1260"/> change "1260" to "1140"
So far he is doing very well with the game. Surprised his Nana as he is only 6 years old. He also plays Medieval Dynasty
With the number of raiders reduced, will that prevent the completion of the Kill 1000 Raiders Milestone. Can a couple more raids be added to get to the 1000 killed raiders.
To reduce the number of raiders, go to the 'scn.xml' file in the scenario and almost at the bottom change the 200 to 100 <action type="TriggerRaiderAttack" amount="200"/>, save and play.
The raid just before that one is 190, you can change that one too if required.
I wish your grandson good gaming.
My grandson is having a problem finishing the scenario. He is using my old computer and when the raiders reached the 200 the game went into terrible lag.
Would it be possible to reduce the number of raider on the 200 attack to 100. Then have another raider attack happen after that one so that he can complete the final 1000 raiders killed Milestone
Sometimes just narrowing the difference between min and max (increasing min number closer to max number) makes a difference.
Re 'ear' thanks for picking it up. When typing a lot of text we make this sort of mistake, the spell checker does not pick it up if the word exist like ear and hear.
You surely had a look at the files in this scenario and you can see the amount of text involved.
It takes a good 20 hours to script and test a scenario, sometimes more.
that said, I hope your grandson will enjoy the scenario.
Is there a limit to what I can set the Max number on for the animals?
This dies not affect the game but i thought you might like to know that there is a small typing error in one of the massages. Here is a copy of the message
Two Children walk into camp crying looking for their parents.
We can ear the rattling of spears in the distance, raiders are approaching.
The word hear is missing missing the 'h'
I have corrected the word in my file.
It looks complicated but it is quite straight forward.
If you decide to use notepad++ everything is highlighted in colour and well presented.
It will also tell you of potential errors.
Let me know how you go.
EX: <action type="SetAnimalPopulation" animal_types="ibex mouflon boar" min="60" max="80" era_factors ="0.25 0.5 0.75 1 1 1"/>
min/max give the min/max number of these animals appearing on the map, lower or increase these numbers as you like.
era_factors are 6 sets of numbers telling the game to increase or decrease the min/max number for each era (Paleo, neolithic etc...) 0.25 is a quarter, 0.5 half and so on to 1 which is unchange.
This allows to have an animal specie to appear or disappear earlier or later if you use "0".
If you don't want an animal to appear in the game at all, just set min/max to "0" or in the example above if you wish to not have "ibex" just delete it's name "mouflon boar".
be careful not to delete " <>.
Just save the file when you are finished.
It is quite easy to change animal population.
First go to "E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\858810" change E to the drive letter where you have Steam.
Then find the folder "2400680633", inside this folder there is a file named "survival scn.xml".
Open this file with a text editor like notepad or notepad++ , this last one is the best, you can download it from the internet, it is free and very good.
Ounce you have it open, scroll down until you see this:
<!-- Set animal populations, these will get spawned automatically -->
My grandson has been watching me play this scenario and is keen to try it, but the small amount of wild animals that wander keep him from trying. If it is possible for me to increase the number of animals, can you please help me do so.
Thank you
For the new scenario it is not to play online but just like any other scenario.
As I don't want to make it public yet if you accept my offer to become my friend you would be able to play that scenario before anyone else.I sent you an invitation up to you to accept.
So far I am about half way through that scenario and already picked up a few mistakes which I correct as I go.
So far I like this scenario, it is slow starting so it allows you to build your settlement at a slower pace the way you wish it.
There is lots of space for building and farming and some of the raiders are a bit of a challenge.
However I did get a coding error for another scenario. I know what I did wrong in that one so it will be easy to correct.
At lease know what is wrong if the error message comes up again. Thank you for letting me know about it.
I will check the coding. Knowing me I will have goofed up
If the scenario is not showing in your game anymore means you have an error in the coding.
Usually when this happens you get a message at the bottom of the screen when clicking on 'community' in the select scenario screen.
The message will mention 'error at line <u>number</u> character <u>number</u>', you have to go there in the SCN file and fix it.
The lag you get towards the end is unfortunately common depending on your PC hardware.
On another note, I just finished a new scenario last night and am playing it to iron out eventual problems.
Until bronze age evolution and raiders depend on milestones achievements. No tech until Bronze age.
Very nice map all together easy with a few challenges.
Would you like to try it out, if yes accept do be my friend and I will post the scenario online for friends only to play.
I want to make sure it runs smoothly before I make it public.
I tried lowering the amount of raiders but for some reason the scenario now disappears from my game and I have to go to Steam to unsubscribe and resubscribe to get the scenario back. When I check the 'SCN' file the raiders numbers are back to what they were.
The scenario ran well before the large increase in raiders
