The function was adapted to work specifically with stormworks parts, I do not believe that there is any specific documentation for how the function works.

@Upsurge I figured out my issue and have done a bit more research on the math behind APN missile guidance and I found it to be really interesting. I still don't fully understand exactly how the math works for the global angles part though. Do you know if there is any documentation or explanation that I could find behind how that function in specific works?

I would check your fin node connections. Make sure that on both sides of the missile the fins are in the same orientation. You can see the orientation from the arrows above and below the fin. Other than that im not sure, you can try taking one of my existing missiles and see how everything is wired on that.

@Upsurge thanks for the explanation, I tried using some of the guidance logic in my own missile and ran into a bit of a problem though. Whenever it comes within range of the target it won't actually steer towards it and it will just shake up and down and left to right really quickly. I tried lowering the navigation constant, but it doesn't seem to help because the same things happens just slightly less intense.

The function converts the relative angles of the radar to global angles which are locked to the world orientation. In simple terms, this is needed so the missile knows whether it is the target that is actually moving, or if the missile is just moving relative to the target (like if the target is stationary and the missile is not aimed directly at it). Glad to see people are still playing around with this kit and learning from it.

Simply out of curiosity, how does the math in the lua script work? I tried to look at the script and understand it and I think I understand the APN part but what does the first function do where it uses a bunch of trig functions on the elevation and azimuth? Sorry for my lack of understanding, just got into building missiles and I'm currently trying to learn more.

I have not figured out how to make the new radars work with apn yet. They still are lacking in their performance. If you want a warhead on it put the radar distance target through a threshold gate and then the output of that to the warhead

I am actually thinking of base for ICBM that GPS guided but also with targeting system that can hit any ship in the map wherever it is

Yeah that happens to many missiles after the srb update, you need to compensate for it by using the fins.

I think that I have all of the difficult stuff sorted, to the point that what anyone needs to do is to build a body for the missile which can be based on the numerous existing missiles on the workshop. Im currently not playing the game much but I could definitely make a tutorial some time in the future. Im thinking that I might revise this kit after weapons update drops.

There is no indicator as to whether the missile sees a target, but once it sees a target the fins should have an output going to them. You could also directly connect radar target indicator to a light for example.

I dont believe the medium booster is the issue. It works fine on my missiles. By offset I meant a constant value that will be added to the input of the fins that account for missile pitch to prevent it from going up. You can add that within the microcontroller by using a constant number block and the addition block.

No, if the missile goes up you could try an offset to the fins so they keep it relatively straight

Unfortunately I don't think that a bigger version would be all that useful because mounting options would be limited. In regards to the bombing mission, I am not the maker of it and only helped in some parts. Contact the other person listed on the creation page for any questions about that.

Hi on October 3rd of last year you posted a bombing mission. I had written you a comment about it on February of this year asking about it. I never got a response from you but I got a comment from someone else telling me they were broken. Yes they are broken (Kind of). They work really well except at least on my PC and my friends PC's when they detonate they slowly grow until their full size and then release there shock wave The whole process takes about two minutes. I have been fortunate enough to figure out how to make them missiles and successfully detonate I also made an entire underground base to launch them. Anyways is it possible if you could make three more explosion sets or bombs. No pressure.
