have you tried force reloading and making sure the inventory isnt full? ammo switching cant happen if it dosnt have room to pull the new ammo into the inventory.

Having an issue with the 203mm single cannon not taking 203mm AP ammo.

It should be similar to SE1 only a newer engine allowing for more stable game play, the grid system means building and modding is more streamlined, I expect a more easily modifiable game. I recommend inspecting the blueprint conversion tool while we wait for modding to get ideas on what needs to be worked on when we get support. It should reveal both code and graphical changes being made. I have faith in the mod authors, they got this in the bag!

probably not. I had plans for more mods and updates to this one and the mining mod but I have not had much interest in modding SE lately.

What I wanted to ask is, will there be more Northwind mods coming in the future?
I thought of energy weapons, missiles, thrusters, reactors...

There are already many mods in these areas, but mods that fit together because they were created by the same modder would make mod selection easier.

I would recommend blocking the turrets with large subdeck sections from spawning on NPCs if your using the MES weapon randomizer... they look really stupid when that happens. that is actually why I added the 203mm single. I just never got around to making a blacklist. all the NW weapons should be useable by MES NPCs but it works best for NPCs that are built to use them from the start.

Ok, as far as the 203 Single's access panel is concerned, I only noticed it by chance because I wanted to test what damage the weapons and the different ammo types do against the energy and defense shield mods.

And with the AP ammunition, I only noticed it because I use several weapon mods at the same time and other PD weapons intercepted the AP grenades.
I'm currently managing a small private server and we use the MES mod, so I'm testing the weapons from different mods that we have on the server to find out which of these weapons I allow NPCs to use and which ones I prohibit.

But I can understand your reasoning about the ammunition, it just confused me a bit at first.
But then I now know that the NPCs get the CIWS and we then use AP ammunition xD

AP ammo is basically solid steel with a small bursting charge, you would never be able to shoot those down like you might be able to HE shells. So instead of giving them insane health and having your PD waste there time and ammo shooting at stuff they wouldnt be able to kill I made them "smart" enough not to shoot at them. as for the 203mm single that is a limitation of SE, cant have a terminal point move, I figured most people wouldnt be trying to access the terminal in the middle of a fight.

Hi, I have discovered that the 203mmAP, 300mmAP, 400mmAP, 500mmAP ammunition is not recognized and intercepted by the CIWS.

I also noticed that when
203mm Single Gun Turret, the access panel hitbox does not move when the turret rotates. It always stays in the same place.

unless something has changed with armor or WC the 500mm AP should pen 2 blocks of heavy armor then explode but it can ricochet doing this so where it hits inside is hard to guess at

Hey, I did some testing with the 500mm turrets and it seems like AP ammunition doesn't really penetrate armour any better than HE, and in many cases actually seems to penetrate / damage armour blocks *less* than HE.
Against a heavy armour target HE was able to gouge a 1 block deep hole out of it, while AP was only able to make small holes, also one block deep - my expectation was at least 2 blocks depth, but obviously without the area damage HE gives. Against modded armour blocks it was even worse, with HE doing more damage than AP, and the AP not penetrating at all.
To confirm it wasn't some weird mechanic going wrong with WC I shot a 250mm rail at the heavy armour target and that penetrated all of the way through the 3 layers, so I'm thinking there could be something up with the config for the 500mm AP ammo.

did these get changed with the Automoton update specifically the proximity to other weapons? I only ask cuz multiple people from my server have complained some of the 500mm turrets have despawned from their grids and when to replace it says to close to other weapons.

I forgot this change in the last changelog and its an important one. Keen updated the ammo explosion stuff so modders could adjust the damage done by exploding ammo in cargo containers. I set the damage for railgun ammo to 0 and conventional AP rounds too 0.5 but left HE and special ammo at 1 (full) damage. This means railgun ammo and AP rounds are safer to have in large amounts on a ship but HE rounds can be a little risky. Standard and DU 30mm ammo is counted as AP, CRAM ammo is counted as HE.

no, also this is only the tournament version, it should only be used for the tournament. this version might get changes and updates that are not suitible for survival.

The weapon set as a whole feels underwhelming.

Just for comparison:

Every shot a 250mm cannon takes requires almost half an ingot of uranium & almost a full ingot of nickel, plus iron (albeit the iron cost is kind of whatever).

Every shot a Gladius heavy laser takes is nearly free (a non-zero but not significant amount of uranium, assuming it is powered by a standard reactor).

On paper, the railgun does more damage. In practice, the difference in accuracy between the two weapon systems means that the Gladius does more meaningful damage to it's target.
