This mod is not right. It's only for the head of the family, not for the ruler. I can't abdicate in favor of my son (I am 74) because my father still lives (91).

Hey when I use this mod together with this fix https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2755526496 the event keeps firing asking if I want to abdicate and the AI also keeps abdicating constantly

kept bringing up an event asking if i wanna abdicate also AI rulers Abdicate all time

I cant abdicate, theres a stress level requirement. Is this part of the mod?

I too wanted tribal options, so I added the lines needed (pending the author adding it they want, hope it's okay to share this):

Open the file: (assuming default install loc.)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1158310\2407516326\common\decisions\ABD_decisions.txt

[h1]After line 11[/h1]: Add the line " has_government = tribal_government
(It will then look like this:)

Does this work with Tribal Rulers?

Does this not work with tribal rulers? Playing as a Norse tribal, don't see any decisions to abdicate but I do see it when I'm feudal. It says it needs crown authority, but tribal rulers use tribal authority instead.

Hello, I was wondering if I could integrate your mod into mine, Il Risorgimento. Many rulers abdicated during the Victorian era. I will of course credit you in the description.

This mod worked for me through two rulers. But I've just tried using it again and it's instant game over, even though I have an heir. I'm not sure what could have changed to make this occur.

Can't abdicate if you are not the head of your dynasty, it seems. Error is "Only the dynasty head can expand renown"

@FunGaming44 You can start a fraction against your liege to force him to abdicate already in the base game (You just need to pick a new candidate). I am planning on introducing a scheme to persuade any other ruler to abdicate "willingly". But I am not sure when and if it will come. I simply have other ideas first.

Can you make it so you can also like force your liege to Abdicate or even better to force anyone to Adbicate ? Would definitely make it more fun for Role Playing to steer it a bit.

Would be cool to have the choice to refuse an elected title and pass it onto the 2nd in-line. Idk how that would work exactly though.

@QuarantinE Thank you for your feedback. I have included an opinion modifier that gives players a bonus if a hated ruler adbicates.

I think this sort of mode should be in the base game. A king or emperor probably would not abdicate but nobles who past the age of 50 would start to hand more of the power over to the heir or retire from high society politics. Thanks for the mod.

I think it'd be much more reasonable that vassals would be more willing to support the new guy if the previous liege already held immense power and popularity, a bit like the augustus/caesar system in late Rome and the Byzantine Empire. This opinion bonus could be available only to the highest level of Crown Authority as well, whereby the longer you have someone as your designated heir, the more bonus he would get on succession, and halfhearted appointments and late change-of-minds would incur hefty opinion penalties from vassals who had already rallied around the heir apparent, giving the player more to consider when choosing their heir, especially in late game.

I really enjoyed the mod , but I have one suggestion though - upon abdication of a good liege in favor of his designated heir, would it be possible for the player to gain opinion bonus from fellow vassals rather than malice? There are many instances in history where rulers abdicate when still in good health in order to ensure stable succession in the realm.

I especially love the idea of forcing a vassal to abdicate. Yes, I might have defeated their rebellion, but I don't want to remove the entire family from their lands, I just want the traitor removed from power.

@Keschbo That's super cool. I've seen an abdication feature added in other mods, like one of the Byzantine expansions, but your incumbent character takes a "back seat" position with a lower tier title. Haven't seen your version yet, so that's cool.

@Credulis At the moment you will play as your player heir (Either by family or by vote)
But it is a good idea to be able to continue with the same character with a lower title. I will see to implement that in the future. Thanks
