Thank you for the kind words.

Dude, you made an INCREDIBLY useful mod that I was missing so much... I hope you can develop this idea and improve it in some way. I rarely leave comments, but you deserve it. THANKS!
Davi 19 May @ 5:54am
Btw is there a way to force spawn only specific fallen empires? Like I want only the materialist, spiritualist and the xenophobic ones to spawn.
Dragatus  [author] 9 May @ 10:09am
Cool. Thanks for the info.
Davi 8 May @ 12:37pm
This still works as the 1 line was unaffected in 4.0
BroncoXeno2035 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:57pm
Got it, thank you.
Dragatus  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 11:06am
The only way to make this work 100% for Scion is to play a huge galaxy with 5 FEs and make sure you have enough spiritualistic and materialistic custom empires that not all of them will be used up for the regular AI empires.
Dragatus  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 11:03am
For Scion's FEs it sometimes works, but not always. The way Scion works is it checks if there's a materialist or spiritualist FE in the galaxy and if neither one exists it spawns one of them randomly.

If the materialist/spiritualist FE was spawned normally, this mod will have an effect and the FE will try to base itself on one of your materialist/spiritualist custom empires that are allowed to spawn. If you have no such custom empires it will be random. And if there is no materialist or spiritualist FE in the galaxy and the origin spawns one, that one will always be totally random, even if you have a suitable custom empire for it to base itself on.
BroncoXeno2035 24 Jul, 2024 @ 3:08pm
Does this also work with Scions' FEs?
Dragatus  [author] 23 Jul, 2024 @ 9:42pm
That is good to know. Thank you for sharing.
ZwiebelRiegel 23 Jul, 2024 @ 9:37am
i found the problem if you play as the same species portait as the intended fallen empire species it generates a random one
ZwiebelRiegel 23 Jul, 2024 @ 9:21am
the mod only works with machine intelligence for me
Dragatus  [author] 4 Jun, 2024 @ 11:47am
The problem is probably that the 5 types of FE don't support individualist machines. They original 4 have to be organics and the robotic one has to be gestalt.
Diiablox 4 Jun, 2024 @ 4:40am
Can confirm that this mod doesn't work for individualist machine empires. I've managed to get the empire to spawn as an FE, but only if I switch it out of being individualist machine
Diiablox 4 Jun, 2024 @ 4:09am
Does this work for individualist machine empires? I'm trying to get one to spawn as the fallen and it hasn't happened so far (they're fanatical xenophobes and had a random fanatic xenophobe fallen empire spawn instead)
Diiablox 4 Jun, 2024 @ 1:13am
Great mod!
Does anyone know of a version of this mod for marauder empires too? I'd love to have custom fallen empires and marauder empires in the same game!
Dragatus  [author] 17 Mar, 2024 @ 5:22am
Oh wow, the random name bug again. I totally forgot about it. Good thing you figured it out.
Davi 16 Mar, 2024 @ 8:16am
I figured it out. You cannot use randomised names. You have to type them manually. I manually changed the name of the empires that weren't spawning and now they are. Thanks for the mod and help :steamhappy:
And yes you can only have 1 empire for each solar system, everyone else has to be random.
Most of the origins are unique so you can also only have 1 of them per game. Rest has to be Unification.
Now all that we need is a mod that lets you pick which portraits are being used by everything else :steammocking:
Dragatus  [author] 14 Mar, 2024 @ 8:17am
Ultimately it would probably be best to create an origin that just forces an empire to become FE. I remember such a mod existed for a while before the author poofed from Steam and deleted all their mods. But RL has been awfully busy, so I hardly have any time anymore to mod Stellaris.
Dragatus  [author] 14 Mar, 2024 @ 8:14am
You probably already did this, but just to cover all the bases, the empires you wanted to spawn as FEs all had Random set as the home solar system, right? And they didn't have any special origins? And the 3rd ethic was one of Authoritarian/Egalitarian/Militarist/Pacifist, right? And they didn't duplicate any of the other empire's portraits, right?

You could also try to see if anything changes if you increase the number of available empires that could spawn as FEs.
Davi 13 Mar, 2024 @ 12:25pm
I really don't know then. I have a mod that removes all the default empires and I made 28 custom ones and i set 24 of them to force spawn. Rest I tried to made for fallen empires and only left them on highlighted eagle. I set game to 24 ais, 8 advanced and 4 fallen on a 1000 size game. Disabled caravaneers and the space vikings (I forgot what theyre called). After the game start i go to observe mode and I see that most of the empires have spawned. I dont know why not all. I'd say about 75% of those 24 are my custom ones, rest is random. Then only 1 out of 4 fallen empires has the portrait I chose, rest is random.
Ugh if only there was a way to choose what spawns and what doesnt in this game for a true custom experience :steamsad:
Dragatus  [author] 12 Mar, 2024 @ 10:18pm
I tested some more and again all the FEs were based either on the preset empires or on my own custom empires. I wasn't trying to spawn specific empires as FEs though and each ethic had lots of available options. Maybe that makes a difference?
Dragatus  [author] 12 Mar, 2024 @ 1:47pm
No civics or origins. Empires should get chosen based on ethics alone. I don't know why it isn't working for you, I never get randoms whenever I test it.
Davi 10 Mar, 2024 @ 7:37pm
Actually 1 I made spawned rest are randomised
Davi 10 Mar, 2024 @ 7:35pm
I tried running game with 24 locked custom made empires + mine + 3 highlighted unlocked custom made empires to be chosen as fallen empires but theyre not spawning
Davi 10 Mar, 2024 @ 7:34pm
How to make sure the 3 empires I made get spawned as fallen empires?
Are there any civics or origins I need to take specifically?
Annarresti 15 Jan, 2024 @ 11:56am
Thanks for the mod anyway!
Annarresti 15 Jan, 2024 @ 11:56am
Some species packs seem to override it too. At least some of the time I was getting a "Realm of Nova", which I think is a prescripted from the Electroids mod
Annarresti 15 Jan, 2024 @ 11:56am
Thanks for replying. At least *some* of the interference was coming from Ethics and Civics Classic.
Dragatus  [author] 15 Jan, 2024 @ 11:08am
I don't think you're missing anything, the game is just being weird. If you removed all prescripted empires they really shouldn't be available to spawn as FEs. The only explanation I can think of is that something is interfering with that mod.
Annarresti 13 Jan, 2024 @ 7:50am
I am using this mod to prevent vanilla spawns:

"No Default Species - Ironman / Achievement Compatible (Any Version / Any DLC Combinations)"
Annarresti 13 Jan, 2024 @ 7:48am
This doesn't seem to work consistently for me. I am often seeing vanilla FE with an ethic I gave to an allowed-to-spawn custom empire with the purposes of making them the custom spawned FE.

Maybe I'm missing something?
Dragatus  [author] 18 Dec, 2023 @ 11:46am
They need to have either the fanatical or the non-fanatical variant of the ethic to become the corresponding FE.

For example an empire that's spiritualist and fanatic xenophobe and another empire that's fanatic spiritualist and xenophobe would both qualify to become either the spiritualist or the xenophobic FE.
Hatsune Kamiri 18 Dec, 2023 @ 11:03am
So for them to spawn as a fallen empire, they have to be non-fanatic at base and then they become fanatic when they become a fallen empire? Alright, good to know. Thanks
Dragatus  [author] 18 Dec, 2023 @ 9:31am
They can have any combination of ethics as long as one they have at least the non-fanatic version of the FE's fanatic ethic. A given custom empire may even qualify to spawn as different FE types.

For example an empire that was authoritarian, xenophile and spiritualist could spawn as either the spiritualist FE or as the xenophile FE.
Hatsune Kamiri 18 Dec, 2023 @ 6:40am
Just out of curiosity trying to get this to work, do the custom empires have to have only the one single fanatic ethic corresponding to the fallen empire in order to be spawned or can they have any combination of ethics while also including the required fanatic ethic of the fallen empire?
Disciple Zero 24 Nov, 2023 @ 4:15pm
Correct, i made all the custom empires 2nd ethic authoritarian
Dragatus  [author] 23 Nov, 2023 @ 7:46am
Weird. And the customs all just have one of the FE ethics, right? Your fanatic materialist isn't xenophile or xenophobe, correct?
Disciple Zero 21 Nov, 2023 @ 3:45pm
So I created another 5 custom empires (2 for each ethic) and had them all set to allowed to spawn. However, still no luck did it about 5 times with 0 AI empires and each time between 2-3 of the custom empires became FE's rest were randomly generated. I even unsubbed and resubbed to the mod to make sure there wasn't like a file corrupted or something but no luck still lol
Dragatus  [author] 21 Nov, 2023 @ 9:52am
Thank you for the additional information. I still don't understand how randoms can be spawning when you have 0 AI empires and every time I test it on my end all the FEs are either my customs or one of the premades. Then again, I have 50+ eligible custom empires so maybe it's a numbers game? Do you get any improvement if you create another 5 customs to act as FEs and set the number of AI empires to 0?
Disciple Zero 21 Nov, 2023 @ 3:32am
I tested about 10+ times again and this time my custom empires would spawn 2-4 FE's. So then i assumed maybe it was maybe one of the other mods i have enabled, so i disabled all other mods except this one and the No default empires mod, and was still seeing the same results. So then i changed my game settings, to the default Huge galaxy size settings with 5 FE's, and still no luck, usually only 1 of my custom empires spawned as an FE and the rest either spawned as regular empires or didnt spawn at all.
Disciple Zero 21 Nov, 2023 @ 3:32am
So i started to notice it when I wanted to do a roleplaying game, my game settings were set to 0 AI Empires and 5 FE's, I created the custom empires for the FE's and then the actual empire that I wanted to use, I would go into the game, and check observer mode to make sure the FE's spawned correctly, however as i stated in my first comment either 1 or 2 would spawn, and the others would sometimes either be randomly generated or the default-premade empires would become the FE's, i did this about 10+ times all having the same result, so then i downloaded a mod that removes default-premade entirely "No default empires 3.10" mod. That solved the issue of default pre-made empires from spawning however I was still getting randomly generated FE's.
Dragatus  [author] 20 Nov, 2023 @ 8:52pm
When you got randomly generated FEs, did your custom empires spawn as normal empires? That's one possibility of what could prevent them from spawning as FEs.
Dragatus  [author] 20 Nov, 2023 @ 8:47pm
I just realized that another method of preventing premade empires from spawning as FEs would be a mod that removes them from the game or at least prevents them from spawning.
Dragatus  [author] 20 Nov, 2023 @ 8:44pm
They shouldn't get randomly generated, but default pre-made empires will always be just as eligible to become FEs as your customs. The only possible countermeasure to that would be a FE origin, but that's a bit beyond my scope ATM.

Randomly generated FEs do concern me though. That shouldn't happen except if there is an empire with the Scion origin. Can you give me more information about games where FEs spawned as randoms?
Disciple Zero 20 Nov, 2023 @ 6:51pm
Hi, I seem to be having the same issue as a previous commentor. I've done exactly as the description says and created 5 custom empires, with their appropriate ethics and setting them to "allowed to spawn" but most of the time either 1 or 2 only spawn and the rest are either randomly generated or default pre-made empires become the FE's, i've tested this without any other mods and it still occurs.
Dragatus  [author] 28 Oct, 2023 @ 12:09pm
My best guess is that slaad didn't have a custom empire for every one of the FE ethics and fixed the problem by adding new custom empires for the missing ethics, but I'm not entirely sure that is correct.
Brancaleone di Norcia 28 Oct, 2023 @ 10:24am
@slaad I have the same problem as you, but I didn't understand your solution. Could you explain it to me in other words please, I would really appreciate it as it has been suiting me for months
Dragatus  [author] 6 Jul, 2023 @ 1:54pm
I'm not entirely sure what you did and what was wrong, but I'm glad you got it to work.
SZ 6 Jul, 2023 @ 10:24am
Okay, I figured it out. Each time the generation spawned a random Fallen Empire, I just created a new Custom Empire with a matching Ethic. If I keep it to one less than my custom empires, it will only spawn Customs.
