thank you so much

Hey your engines are awesome, I was wondering if you have any engines that work with infinite fuel/electric and if this one works with them too.
The Simulation Geek 15 Apr, 2021 @ 8:15am
No problem @Kahrstrom, and I’m experimenting with the engines and the hull designs I have. I have a medium sized hull, and I’ll try to put a coal engine in one as well ;)
YoinkySploinky 14 Apr, 2021 @ 4:13pm
so- don't have inf fuel and elc on
it makes it so it won't start
Kahrstrom  [author] 3 Apr, 2021 @ 2:50pm
Thanks man, and good luck!
Not Allergic To Nuts 3 Apr, 2021 @ 1:59pm
Believe me, when you're a psychotic mechanic like I am, everything is a challenge to beat. I will give credit (if It gets uploaded, probably won't upload it, though.) I'll also be bragging on various discord servers about it, too haha. I'm currently debating on using this as a VTOL engine or a helicopter engine... Either way, I'll let you know. Keep it up, dude!
Kahrstrom  [author] 3 Apr, 2021 @ 12:10am
Haha, good luck :P Good man be interesting to see how that works out. Make sure to share if you succeed!
Not Allergic To Nuts 2 Apr, 2021 @ 7:24pm
I am going to figure out a way to use this as an aircraft engine... lol
Blacky 21 Mar, 2021 @ 3:58pm
Ah ok thank you so much :D
Kahrstrom  [author] 21 Mar, 2021 @ 3:56pm
It sounds like you engaged your clutch too fast, resulting in either a damaged gearbox (would mean the engine would just sit and rev, but no propulsion is getting through) or you stalled the engine. Make sure to engage the clutch smoothly and you'll have no issues at all. I'm using it in my own ship with my automatic clutch and it works just fine :)
Blacky 21 Mar, 2021 @ 3:54pm
So I ran into a problem with this engine and what happens is when i do the clutch and throttle once its ready the engine just dies but the propeller is barely spinning and exhaust is coming out but no propulsion is happening
Kahrstrom  [author] 21 Mar, 2021 @ 2:19pm
Updated to fix some quirks with the cooling system, as well as just generally beefing it up. Make sure to use the latest version to ensure safe operation of your Kahrstrom Marine engine.
Tomi 21 Mar, 2021 @ 10:39am
@Kahrstrom thx fits perfectly :)
Kahrstrom  [author] 21 Mar, 2021 @ 2:36am
@a.habibutdinov I appreciate the offer but I prefer to stay independent :) You are of course free to use all Kahrstrom Marine engines as long as you give credit and link the workshop page. Good luck with your builds and make sure to share them! I've love to see what people make with my engines in it.
The Simulation Geek 20 Mar, 2021 @ 9:47pm
@Kahrstrom Can we make a collab where I have a boat "Company" called 'Traveler Shipyards' that builds workshop boats, and since I can't get a grasp on how to build modular engines, can you be the supplier?
Kahrstrom  [author] 20 Mar, 2021 @ 2:44pm
Well, would you look at that @Tomi, a brand new engine from Kahrstrom Marine that just happens to be a V6 ;)

Kahrstrom  [author] 20 Mar, 2021 @ 2:08pm
I might, though I kinda felt it looked a bit short when I was testing it. We'll see :)
Tomi 20 Mar, 2021 @ 6:09am
Can you make a V6 version of this? The V8 is a little to big for my ship :(
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 5:09pm
The AFR microcontroller is a slightly altered variant of a controller from Whitenoise (the LUA god you know). It’s not on the workshop, hence the lack of a link.
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:51pm
Kahrstrom, did you figure out all the math and logic in this or import from somewhere?
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:42pm
lmao that is something I would do as well
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:26pm
Haha yes. I'll just keep it like this and hope they'll fix actual turbos. I can make little turbo noises while I use it. Shhhhhstutututututut
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:24pm
lol I want it to be a Turbo too! But it's a Super right now haha
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:20pm
Yes, but that would make it a supercharger, not a turbocharger :) I want it to be a turbo, though turbos do not work as well as they should right now from my understanding. I'm not crying myself to sleep over it, though it is a damn shame that it can't work like it should.
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:17pm
You are not wrong. That is how a Turbo is suppose to work. But the way it's currently implemented in SW. It's acting more like a Super Charger. Where you must apply torque into power port to make the Impeller turn.

I'm currently working on a (VERY) custom engine and have spent the last two weeks (see my recent play time) experimenting with how it all works.

I can show a big difference when I set it up this way.
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:11pm
Oh yes, I stand corrected on the logic there. I actually switched it around to have the OR gate in front on my newer version.

As for the turbochargers, the theory is pretty simple - Impeller A takes in exhaust, turns it into motion that goes out through the (orange) power node, into impeller B and pushes more air into the exhaust. This is ofc how a turbocharger works in real life too, and how I understand that it is intended to work in SW. There is no fuel passing through the impellers. I'm fairly certain I remember Whitenoise mentioning that he made the MC adjust automatically for turbocharged engines.

PS. Appreciate the input, it's very valueable :)
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:04pm
You have a NOT on each button to engage emergency. This makes them ON by default for both. Both ON into an AND makes the AND ON. Negating either of the NOTs (pushing either Emergency button) negates the AND into the other AND. Thereby cutting power.

I just tested this and it worked.
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:01pm
Currently in this design. The power ports or against each other. So no Power (Torque) is being applied to these pumps. They are just sitting there with fuel and air being passed through. Need to reroute power from output shaft into power port for the Impeller. Technically this makes the Impeller more of a Super Charger or Corrector if in low atmosphere.

I will warn you. When you do this. All that math written in that logic will change.

But for the way the logic and math is atm. It's great for maintaining a 13.7 while being able to vary the RPS.
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:01pm
As for the "Impellers"...(really Devs? It's one of four scenarios. Turbo Charging or Correcting. Or Super Charging or Correcting. One driven by belt off the shaft (Super) or one driven off the exhaust (Turbo).

There was some confusion on these Impeller pumps. As far as I can determine. The way they are implemented in SW. Need to apply power to that orange/yellow circle. (technically) Fresh air into the fluid in and out. But currently exhaust is just a fluid as well with no temperature difference. So exhaust can work too for now...
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 3:55pm
I did notice the issue while making another engine actually. I'll be uploading a fix in a little while. The issue isn't in with the OR gate though - if it was an AND gate you would need to press both (AND = 1 AND 2 need to be pressed, OR = 1 OR 2 needs to be pressed, which is what I want). It's got to do with the throttle cut-off not cutting it correctly. Anyways, fix coming up. Thanks for the report :)
FCW218 19 Mar, 2021 @ 3:47pm
I thought I'd mention this. Small error in the logic for emergency stop. That OR needs to be an AND. Currently you have to push both those emergency buttons to stop the engine. Should only need to push either one in the event of an emergency.
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 12:02pm
Always go bigger. Bigger is the solution to everything.
craftsman 19 Mar, 2021 @ 12:01pm
i am turning a 6x6 into an 8x8
craftsman 19 Mar, 2021 @ 11:59am
i have made a mistake in judgement
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 11:47am
Sounds like a plan ;)
craftsman 19 Mar, 2021 @ 11:46am
ima gonna fit this in my butchered brute 6x6
Grillkol 19 Mar, 2021 @ 11:43am
because from my exhaust no power is generated at all
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 11:41am
To be honest... I'm not quite sure at the moment. Think it makes a marginal difference. The turbos are set up correctly though, so in theory they should work.
Grillkol 19 Mar, 2021 @ 11:39am
does the turbo do anything or is it just "coolness" i made a turbo but no change
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 10:56am
Yes, that's kind of the point with a boat engine :)
arko7 19 Mar, 2021 @ 10:53am
Can I connect propelers to it?
Kahrstrom  [author] 19 Mar, 2021 @ 2:24am
Alright. Make sure You have the latest version and check that You didn’t remove anything. Removing the orange parts Will disable it due to how SW works with hovering blocks.
YoinkySploinky 18 Mar, 2021 @ 4:38pm
I just spawned it in itself, and it didn't start at all
Kahrstrom  [author] 18 Mar, 2021 @ 3:56pm
Did you spawn it in on its own and try it or did you put it in a ship? It works just fine when you simply spawn it in, try that first if you haven't already.
YoinkySploinky 18 Mar, 2021 @ 3:52pm
engines won't start, air to fuel ratio appears as 0
Kahrstrom  [author] 18 Mar, 2021 @ 2:14pm
The microcontroller is not on the workshop, so link will be hard :D

Will look into the collection being broken, thanks for the heads up!
Neo 18 Mar, 2021 @ 1:58pm
Can you post WH1T3_No1SE engine controller link? Also the list of engines is broken
Kahrstrom  [author] 17 Mar, 2021 @ 4:24pm
@Tannery5 haha, no worries. Happens to us all.
Endolius 17 Mar, 2021 @ 4:19pm
@Kahrstrom I feel dumb now.. I didn't read the description, but thanks anyway
Kahrstrom  [author] 17 Mar, 2021 @ 1:15pm
Thank you! As stated under the Credit section in the description, you may use this in your WS creations with credit and link :)
