Hey I'm working on a variant of the Aura carrier. I would love your input on it. Since it's based off your design. I'm not sure if your still playing or not.

i prefer the lack of dropship compartment and so i too hope this gets updated when the author can. in the meantime, this refit appears to be RE2 with a dropship: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3315003965
LiqredX 28 Jul, 2024 @ 8:04am
For me, this ship is the best modular option out there. But I would be very, very happy if you put a compartment for a dropship and updated it for RE2. Then I will marry you. :steammocking:

Hey, just wondering, in the back area of the ship where the XLT is for the thrusters, what goes where the 'SS' is marked?
Bullets 8 May, 2023 @ 10:40am
Edit, i guess it is 1 and 2 i have and i need 3 and 4.

Thank you

Hi, I see it says Helios modulea will also work with this ship... i have the front 3 and 4 modules and they look fantastic fallowing the edges of the carrier. Where can i get the 1 and 2 modules that fallow the lines of the sip in the rear. None of the helios share the same shape as the Aurora?
ishtanzar 6 Feb, 2023 @ 9:06am
The more I use this carrier, the more I think it would be a killing ship if the 2 rear modules where rather replacing the middle section of the ship (replacing the vast area with lateral doors) and have a dropship module at the rear of the ship.
ishtanzar 14 Jan, 2023 @ 5:17am
This is a great carrier for Helios modules for sure, but with the lack of dropship bay it would be awesome to offer a regular module as dropship to compensate. I'm trying to retrofit a HEM as a light dropship rather than using the Minos but I'm not very good at building nice-looking ships.
Conjurer 9 Jan, 2023 @ 1:50pm
Will this fit a drop ship on the back or just standard modules?
SGT Roc/K/ 10 Dec, 2022 @ 1:17am
Thanks for updating this ship for the new shield parts. Still one of my goto ships, I love the layout and the functionality!
CheesyWamBam 31 May, 2022 @ 8:25am
Love this ship. Awesome that it has 2 vessels that dock seamlessly to the front, just wish there was 2 vessel that did the same to the back. Helios modules are great but they proper ruin the aesthetic of the Aurora lol :)
dirkdjently 10 May, 2022 @ 9:54pm
Great, great ship. I fell in love with Jrandall's Plutus M2 Helios Module and wanted something made for Helios docking that was RE-ready. Until finding the Aurora, the only choice I was aware of was (also Jrandall's) the Perseus Carrier, but that's ridiculously huge and expensive. The Aurora ain't cheap, but I was able to save up for it using the Plutus. Now I've got it decked out with 4 modules (mining, cargo, 2x defense) and am saving up for a combat CV to put on the flight deck. Seriously good choice for a SP survival game, once you can afford Lg Optronic Matrix's & Bridges.
Roland 21 Apr, 2022 @ 9:03am
Fantastic carrier, thanks alot for it and also for keeping it up to date!

Another Update for new shields in 1.7

Changed out one capacitor for a charger to account for new tiered shield re-work. There is still lots of room to add shield components, but with the new sizes, it will be a bit more of a challenge.

Players can use spaces marked for XLT 'drive" thrusters for medium shield upgrades should they chose to.
YdoUwant2know  [author] 8 Mar, 2022 @ 6:53pm
Updated for Reforged 1.7.

Added additional solar panels and shield capacitors. Max shield is currently about 30k (4x shield capacitors), though slower to charge than in 1.6.

There are 18 additional shield capacitor/charger locations that have been made available.

8 in thruster areas (4x on each side) marked with "S", and 10 more (5x on each side) in a new hidden room that can be accessed from the hanger next to the side bay doors.
Rizael 30 Nov, 2021 @ 11:44pm
The modules are wicked, is there any prospects on a defensive module?
bonesbro 24 Oct, 2021 @ 6:08pm
That is an awesome carrier, thank you for making it! I've tweaked my version to shift bays 3 and 4 so that you dock from the aft instead of the sides and added a quick access path from the bridge to the forward Aurora forge & cargo modules. I find that the ventral drive thrusters are overkill, at least to start, and downgrading them to advanced gives you the CPU to get your flak turrets in there without aux cores.
HaSharetz 3 Sep, 2021 @ 9:30am
If you just take it BP out of the factory and add it back again it seems to clear the issue. I was just watching Spanj on Ytube and that is how he fixed it.
Crimson Alpha 2 Sep, 2021 @ 7:22pm
I had that bug as well on a different BP. I shut down the game and when I logged back in it was fine.
Zoltan 25 Aug, 2021 @ 3:23pm
Apparently this bug is happening on a lot of design builds
YdoUwant2know  [author] 24 Aug, 2021 @ 5:42pm
@Zoltan

If I had to guess (and this is just a random guess), I would bet that you accidentally saved over the Aurora with something else. If that is the case, then because the game see's it as a 'local file' it may not update from the workshop.

If that is the case, then the only way I can think to fix it would be to delete the entire Aurora folder from your blueprints folder and then re-download. Just in case, you may want to spawn in whatever it is in creative to see if it is something you want saved.

You can also try validating your steam files for the game.

I'm honestly not sure, but I'm sorry it is giving you trouble. That said, I can say I have never even used a "Colonist Missile Turret" in any of my builds, ever. So I have no idea why it would ask for that.
Zoltan 24 Aug, 2021 @ 5:06pm
Something is glitched then. I tried unsubscribing and re subscribing.
YdoUwant2know  [author] 23 Aug, 2021 @ 7:44pm
@Zoltan, I think something is messed up with your files. I just re-downloaded the Aurora to confirme and everything looks to be just fine.

There should no need for Lazers or colonist missile turrets, and frankly I have no idea why it would be asking for that. I check both on a server and in a new game and no issues.

Zoltan 23 Aug, 2021 @ 11:39am
Its asking for a lot of small modulated lazers and colonist missile turrets. Does not match what you say here
YdoUwant2know  [author] 18 Aug, 2021 @ 7:57pm
Updated for 1.5.5.

Added additional solar panels. The Aurora now has a net of 0 power usage when idle (shield and thrusters off.)

You can still add additional large solar panels to the top and bottom to go into negative power usage.

I left the "B" in place. You can use those spaces for fuel or O2.
YdoUwant2know  [author] 18 Aug, 2021 @ 10:21am
Hey Crimson! That is actually my bad... Those used to be used for Solar Capacitors, or "Batteries". When I updated the build for 1.5 I removed the capacitors, as they are no longer supported, I did not remove the "B".

You can use those spaces however you like. Fuel, O2, etc. I have been planing on doing one more update to increase solar power, in which case I will use at least some of those spaces for solar panels, but until then they are open for whatever.
Crimson Alpha 18 Aug, 2021 @ 12:51am
There are a few slots by the thrusters marked BB. I'm curious as to what these are for. I can't figure out what BB stands for.
YdoUwant2know  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 8:58pm
Updated for 1.5 solar changes to RE. Now uses the 'new' solar blocks. Sits at about .6kw in standby mode. Additional solar panels can be added to the top /bottom if you want to lower this further.

@jivaii Slowly but surely yes. ;-)

jivaii 3 Aug, 2021 @ 8:15pm
Will you be updating these with the new solar panel system in Reforged?
ChumSickle 13 Jul, 2021 @ 11:25am
Absolutely fantastic work! Using this in a play through as a mobile home base. The prod/storage modules fir great and work extremely well. Plenty of top deck space to land a combat CV and a general purpose CV. Plenty of internal space to store SVs and HVs as needed. Molecularity is perfect for a single player while keeping the costs manageable. Interior is extremely well decorated and fills the pilot with a real sense of a "working" ship.
me777 11 Jul, 2021 @ 5:19am
finally I managed to reverse the modules and engines.
The textures are still all over the place, but in the end it kind of went ok:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2544069503

the thrusterss at the front are still behind the modules, but maybe i dont even need those thrusaters...

Thanks again for the ship, it was great to work with.
pchayward 1 Jul, 2021 @ 10:52pm
I am keen to try to get this into vanilla. I fixed up the cpu issue but im still having problems with some of the components. Its a great build by you, i hope either i get my hack job working or your vanilla version lands. Thanks for building this and sharing
Lazarus327 18 Jun, 2021 @ 7:25am
One of the things I really love about this ship is how it helps you skirt the skimpy CPU requirements in the mid game of reforged - being able to install a production module with 400k CPU worth of contstructors, deconstructors, etc and not have it impact the mother ship is a really nice hidden feature. Just finished building mine in my solo game yesterday and look forward to zooming around the galaxy with all my stuff in tow.
me777 13 Jun, 2021 @ 1:54am
The Ship is really nice, but I can't get over the obstructed thrusters; it just feels wrong to me.
The whole crew and bridge area is really well made, and the lift exits to the flight deck are genious.

I tryed to cut the ship in pieces and put them together so the thrusters are at the back, but Im so bad at the whole ship building I failed :(

and another thing: why have all carriers this doubble groove at the flightdeck? it just makes walking over it akward...
lazersgm 12 Jun, 2021 @ 6:57pm
is there a blank for the front custom modules?
Barakas 6 Jun, 2021 @ 4:01am
Great mid-sized carrier ship. One question regarding the harvest systems. Any reason why you went with two harvest systems versus just adding another two cargo systems? Are you thinking of these being used with a tool turret?
Natjur 16 May, 2021 @ 9:13pm
@des23 do you have your version with the increase size hanger doors posted anywhere?
Dramallama 7 May, 2021 @ 9:38pm
I was eyeballing a Helios but its a tad excessive and expensive for solo play, so I modified Aurora for vanilla (its easy for anyone wondering). Its almost perfect! Not really Aurora's fault but I noticed the standard bay drop ship's (D1) hangar doors are too small for the heaviest HV's, so I stuffed a 7x5 hangar door in both Aurora's port side Helios module dock and expanded a D1 to match it. It required blowing out Aurora's centerline hallway and moving the elevators so the heavy HV's can park in the main hangar, but it was totally worth it. Now I can carry both the drop ship with the biggest HV's and the M2 mining ship along with Aurora's own production modules anywhere without needing to land on a planet with her. *chefs kiss*

Took me ages to match the details and texturing after the modifications so I can only imagine the work that went into building the whole ship. Really nice work, thank you for doing it!
Krumptz 28 Mar, 2021 @ 9:13am
its a fabulous ship for RE ! i made it and add the 2 front odules and 2 modules of the Helios.... just perfect size for a solo player .Thx so mutch for all the time you spend for doing it. Great Job !
Queball 24 Mar, 2021 @ 1:45pm
This has some fantastic design features, great work
Stan2112 21 Mar, 2021 @ 9:27am
This beauty is exceptional in form and function. Well done!

Looks god damn amazing can't wait for the V variant 8D
0-0-Bram 20 Mar, 2021 @ 8:55pm
No one's said it yet, but this really reminds me of the Quasar-Fire class carrier from Star Wars. Love it!
Tarsis 19 Mar, 2021 @ 4:43pm
Saw it on jrandall's youtube. Great job!
YdoUwant2know  [author] 18 Mar, 2021 @ 8:13pm
@Jrandall, Thank you so much! I feel I need to give credit where credit is due. No way I could have made this half as amazing as I did without the Helios to use as an example. So thank you sir for your amazing work!

@XCaliber: Thanks! I have one on the Anvil server and she is fun to fly. She is also my entry for this months builders challenge, so you will definitely be seeing a lot of her.

@Dadrick: Thank you!

@filbertfarmer, thank you! That is high praise from such an awesome builder as yourself. Much appreciated.
XCaliber 18 Mar, 2021 @ 7:21pm
Looks AMAZING! We may need to bring this into the Let's Play
jrandall 18 Mar, 2021 @ 4:03pm
Very cool ship! I got it added to the Helios collection! Awesome work!
Dadrick 18 Mar, 2021 @ 11:39am
Looks great!
filbertfarmer 18 Mar, 2021 @ 7:53am
This thing is so cool, you really captured the Jrandall military survival style and those angled pods just look so dang nice when docked. Very well done!!
