geez, this mod should be a vanilla feature
each wreckage object eating quite performance, even more after it being torn apart by salvaging
and it left a "dead sector" where everything left is unsalvaged wreckage and being gravitional anomaly that slow down your hyperspace cooldown, which annoying
KnifeHeart  [author] 22 Oct, 2024 @ 8:27pm
I'll have to look at that. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Sneak0r 20 Mar, 2024 @ 9:21am
@Palad1n can you confirm it is there if you disable the mod?
Palad1n 17 Mar, 2024 @ 1:58pm
Apparently this mod is removing wrecked ships for the mission "A Lost Friend" which is odd, it wasn't happening earlier, but now, there is no wreckage to be found, and we have done 4 missions "A Lost Friend" and every time we get to the sector, there is no wreckage to be found.
KnifeHeart  [author] 10 Mar, 2024 @ 11:55pm
Yeah, edit wreckagecleaner.lua
Dreadengore 10 Mar, 2024 @ 6:55pm
this could be the cause of lag in the game. is it possible to edit this so we can set it to 10000 blocks. when we go on a killing spree we leave tons of wrecks behind as we dont need them. i now believe this is the source of lag in the game.

Personally, 15 blocks still sounds like a somewhat sizeable chunk, especially for low-tier sectors. I'd much prefer if the limit was, say, 9 blocks or so.
KnifeHeart  [author] 16 Jan, 2024 @ 7:53pm
Huh. Didn't even think about that. Yeah I could probably work something in. I'll add it to my to-do list.
[uRxP]DrChocolate 16 Jan, 2024 @ 5:24pm
@KnifeHeart Great mod! Any way you could get it to ignore the wrecks spawns for the Lost Friend quest? I like to run those near starting sectors on MP servers, because there's a high density of servers to farm the quest from. In those low-tier sectors, the wrecks spawn with less than 15 blocks about half the time, meaning half your missions become automatic failures.

I could use a server only version. I don't want to mess up doing crap on my own. Perhaps with a way to increase the size of wrecks that it picks up on and removes as a whole. At this point in time, I have too many wrecks in one sector, that it is starting to cause crashes.
RogueRaiden 31 Aug, 2022 @ 5:30pm
hey if you say it'll work fine, then thats all i need haha i'll be putting it in the mods folder
KnifeHeart  [author] 31 Aug, 2022 @ 12:16pm
Do you need me to reupload this as server only or will changing the mod config on your end take care of it?
RogueRaiden 30 Aug, 2022 @ 6:55am
in my case, i wanted to increase the size of the wrecks that get cleaned up and dont want to lose the changes when i force redownload the modlist due to a mod not updating.

others might be so they can use it on a server without losing achievements.
KnifeHeart  [author] 30 Aug, 2022 @ 6:46am
Probably. It's going to scream at me, though, since it attaches a script to a sector.

Why is it needed for this to be server side only? People ask this frequently but I don't know why.
RogueRaiden 29 Aug, 2022 @ 6:17pm
can this be run server side only?
Sneak0r 19 Dec, 2021 @ 2:37am
Ok now I feel stupid... I was looking for this to have cleaner sectors, since I noticed, that the salvage command does produce more wrackages.
Now I wonder, why nothing happens. The mod is not visible in the Mods menu.
How can I activate this?
KnifeHeart  [author] 26 Oct, 2021 @ 3:04pm
Automatically on a timer - not on a command.
A Glowing Thing 26 Oct, 2021 @ 12:35pm
does this mod run on a command or automatically on a timer? I'm looking for something like this that can be run against a sector on command.
KnifeHeart  [author] 30 Mar, 2021 @ 10:17am
Now that I think about it, I'd also like to note that this can be configured to delete wreckages of as many blocks as you want, unlike the base game. (You could easily have this deleting 20 / 30 piece wreckages)

And you're welcome!
Raxos149 30 Mar, 2021 @ 8:10am
Regardless, thanks for the mod. You have been giving us a lot of nice enhancements to the game.
KnifeHeart  [author] 30 Mar, 2021 @ 6:51am
Oh, interesting. I didn't know the "small" wreckages in the config were considered to be 15 blocks or less. I thought it was considerably larger (like 100+ blocks)

Well, this will still preserve the valuable ones and it will still delete small wreckages made by the generator so it's not completely useless.
Maximus 30 Mar, 2021 @ 1:29am
but they do already (smallWreckageDespawnTime=900) 15blocks or less

Sounds very useful, will give it a try~
KnifeHeart  [author] 27 Mar, 2021 @ 12:40am
Yeah I might suggest this one to the devs directly to add as a galaxy setting or something.
M4²⁰ 26 Mar, 2021 @ 10:01pm
very good mod
base game should copy
now i can clean things up
thanks
Cy 24 Mar, 2021 @ 1:42pm
Sath you genius!
KnifeHeart  [author] 24 Mar, 2021 @ 7:58am
This is also fully configurable. If you go into sector/background/wreckagecleaner.lua, you can adjust the block count and monetary values of wreckage pieces that it tries to delete, as well as whether or not it even checks for the monetary value of wreckage pieces.

I have no plans to add any additional complexity to this mod. I think that if I did, it would defeat the purpose of improving the game's performance.
KnifeHeart  [author] 24 Mar, 2021 @ 6:32am
I can't think of anything that this would directly conflict with.
Raxos149 24 Mar, 2021 @ 5:10am
This is quite interesting. I will need to try it later. Are there any mods that this may directly conflict with, or is it pretty stable?
