What happens to the nomads if I make everyone tribal? Will their unique situation still fire? And once All under heaven releases, will China still have its cycle (with no one able to rebuild the celestial hegemony for quite some time)?

Lastly, I remembered there was a way to randomize the princes of darkness mod, but I don't remember how. With the vanilla bookmark mod, or a different one?

my experience with this mod is that paradox will break it and then some random update will make it work again. Currently it seems to be working. I would take the advice of generating the world and then save it. Used to get corrupted saves so not sure if that is still an issue or not. Seems okay right now.

I don't want to call it too early, but it's still working for me. I don't have the most recent DLC but have all the others, and I always start in the earliest year in observer mode, but it seems to be working ok. Touch wood...

Is this compatible with more game rules? I have both but MGR won't let me have different realm sizes (IE everyone is a duke etc) but I want it for the extra rules.

I think rather than random religion placement you should add a bunch of new religions as random religions, same as cultures

Yeah, the options to randomise anything other than faith and random leader positions seem to have been removed from the game rule options. Perhaps the mod has been removed while it is being updated? Fingers crossed it returns... but it's also a lot of work to keep this thing going as well.

@Juan_Arroba, @To5hi The trick to avoiding crashes and corrupted saves is as soon as you generate world, save and load the game (before you let a lot of time pass). Otherwise when you eventually save it will be corrupted

They should really specify this somewhere in game

Same problem as Juan_Arroba and Sonnenritter. Loading a save appears to cause a crash.

I have the same problem as Juan_Arroba. As long as I play, all works, but if save and try to restart, it crashes.

At first everything is fine, but after a few years, as the map moves away, the territories of the states begin to change. I see how the territory changes and the game crashes. (my English is bad, sry)

This crashes my game after about 5 years every time. Also after much fiddling with various combinations of mods. This mod in particular slowed down my game to something like speed 3 to speed 4 while I was on speed 5. My CPU is pretty beefy so I dont think its a hardware cap issue.

I dont know if I'm doing something wrong, but this mod just straight up refuses to work no matter how long I wait for it to randomize in observer mode.

A feature I would really love to get for this is keeping similar culture groups together, ie. all African groups together, Asian groups together, Indian groups together, European groups together, etc.

@Fumo As someone suggested, I let time run for a little bit then saved, then loaded the game. This solved my problem mostly, though I don't think there's a permanent workaround. My game still crashes at seemingly random, but not always and not for decades.

My game crashes everytime i try to initiatie a game. So i cannot save anything till im inside a game.

@deadlypanda - I had that issue previously. I cannot recall specifically how I got around it, so you may need to test a little. I think I uninstalled (unsubscribed) and then reinstalled the mod, created a new world, waited for a bit for everything to be generated (paused), then saved, then loaded the game.
As a test, I played in observation mode at high speed. Previously it would crash in just a handful of years, but I've been able to observe for hundreds without issue, and now switch into a character.

I can't say for sure which thing I did, or may have tried, that did the trick, but I was having it crash a bunch and couldn't get it working until I did these things.
I sincerely hope it helps, as it is a brilliant mod.

LMAO, just discovered that the random name generation feature made a duchy named "Duchy of Poland" in Scotland in this playthrough I'm doing.

Additionally, i can "fix" said rulers manually via create your own ruler... though, I've currently discovered that with some of the west slavic cultures that they'll still wear nightgowns by default weirdly (it must be an issue in the culture aesthetics).

i'll try later researching more into the issue by making a game with only this mod, to see if i'm not making myself a fool talking about all of this.

Update on my issue I mentioned back in December 2023: i figured out which cultures the bug occurs to, i think. decided to start a new game, and this time i saw those weird default looking rulers, and i've made note that it appears to be specific west slavic heritage and latin heritage cultures. i know for certain about the west slavic ones because i made note of that in a previous playthrough.

again, unsure if it's this mod is where the issue comes from, but honestly, idk what other mod i have on could potentially make this happen.

This mod crashes within the first year every time I start it. I can't reload the save after the fact, it crashes while loading every time. Any fixes at all? I've already tried re-downloading and verifying integrity files.

NVM I solved it: I simply took the "randomize holy site" mod and this allowed the game to keep my character's faith (and culture as well, I dunno why).

I have a problem, for how stupid it may be: when I create a full protected character, I still have their faith and culture changed according to the randomization of the religions and cultures.
Ex: I create a Ashari Ashkenazi. I put him in Provence, the settings are "Full protection" "Random" both for faith and culture (therefore I expect that cultures are located next to similar ones and religions near to holy sites).
I start the game and...he become an Islamic Han guy. This because, of course, the whole French zone became an Asiatic zone and an European church became an Islamic holy site,
I tried and either Protected, either Full protection is the same: when I use the custom character, they are changed.
Is there a way to avoid this?

I figured it out. emperors are chosen from kings, and kings are chosen from dukes. dukes are generated first, then kings, then emperors. but if you ask for only a few dukes, you just get a shattered world. so max out all of them, while allowing for a higher upper limit of kingdoms per empire, and you get the best odds (of starting under a large empire).

also, if you raise the lower limit of kingdoms per empire (say 7 kingdoms per empire), you end up creating one really small empire with the leftover kingdoms.

Does anyone know good settings for starting as a vassal under a sprawling empire? I've been messing around with the min/max duchies per kingdom, min/max kingdoms per empire, and how many dukes/kings/emperors to try and get this but haven't had any luck.

Saving and instantly reloading the save file as soon as you randomize a game seems to have fixed it for me. Though as soon as a save file crashes it's cooked I'm afraid

Hmm. So after a little experimentation, it seems a simple "unsubscribe", "subscribe" downloads seems to have fixed it. Early days, but perhaps it's game on again!! :steamhappy:

After having no issues with this fantastic mod, my game now crashes regularly too.
I actually can't imagine playing CK3 much without it, that's how good it is! Kudos to LT!

Fingers crossed it can be fixed but it must be an ordeal making it compatible with all patches and updates made to the game.

Easily one of the best mods for CK3 out there. It provides so much more variety for everyone using the vanilla map, as well as modded maps. There are already many features to randomize your run in a fun way. I hope you keep adding more content and updating it because, to be honest, I couldn't imagine playing on the vanilla map without it.
