Had the screen for game loading taking too long. Pressed spacebar. Game fucking crashed and wiped my 10h save. I got noita'd so hard.

I tried this with Noita Proxy (Entangled Worlds) quite a while ago when playing with my friend, and it worked rather well to separate saves without much issue. Not sure if it's still the case lol. Gonna install and find out.

Does this mod work with entangled worlds mod well without issue? I have a good coop run started(BEFORE subscribing to this mod) with a friend but he had to hop off, and I would still like to play a run but not continue our coop run without him. Will my coop save be safe/unaffected if I install this mod now and create a new save file?

Copy one of save0# directories. (00 is the main savedata, 01-06 are additional savedatas used by mods)

1. Right click Noita in Steam Library and proceed to Manage -> Browse Local Files.

2. Open directory Noita\mods\nightmare\mod.xml with editor. (Notepad is enough)

3. Add

in the line between is_game_mode="1" and >

I don't know this work properly or not.

Just curious about the functionality of this in terms of progression unlocks. Does a second save file start from scratch, or is progression tied to the whole game regardless of save? I ask because I play NoitaTogether with friends once or twice a week and have a bunch of unlocks there as a result of other people's progress, but I want to also play on my own and unlock things naturally.

Using this to have separate runs in good spots I can come back to for the purpose of playing with friends via Noita Proxy, but it appears that the mod somehow botches world generation in the seed department. I keep getting the exact same seed whenever I do a new game with this mod. It kind of defeats the point of having multiple different saves if you're stuck to one seed anyways. :/

If you are not playing newgame+ in main save slot(top one), you don't need to care about it.
Else, you need to load main save file first when booting Noita or your will have wrong NG+ level in other save files.

This might work better with other mods if you can make it such that mod settings are saved per-save slot. Trying to play two games with the Archipelago mod resulted in the mod settings getting their wires crossed.

Any chance you could go into more detail about the bug warning i find it very hard to understand or know for certain that i understand whats said there.

You said that basically if i have a NG+ save at any point in time that it will mess up a non NG+ save unless i load the NG+ save first and then load the other save??
Also this only happens when you load from the main menu?'
So this wont be a concern at all then if i load my saves after already being in another game/save?

For some reason, if I resume the save in a holy mountain, it kills the holy mountain. Every time. But weirdly enough, the collapsed stones are not "collapsed stones", they're stonework, which is nigh unbreakable early run, resulting in many of my early runs being bricked?

This just started about a month ago since the patches started coming in, could be related to that. Could also be related to doing a daily run?

You can play another run or test something with sandbox mods without finishing precious long run.
If you wanna cheat death, some respawn mods by other mod developers there.

If it doesn't keep the save after death then this mod seems kind of obsolete ! I don't see the point of doing two seperate runs and eventually ending up getting Noita'd in both of them and not being able to properly save !

I confirmed this mod is still working in current beta version.
To continue, select new game in title menu then save slot game mode.
This mod don't disable perma-death feature so the save file is deleted if you die.
If your save disappear whenever you quit, please try disabling other mods, check your anti-virus logs(especially Windows Defender) and allow file writing if noita.exe has been blocked.

Really useful, but it is a shame it turns off steam achievements and secrets. But would it be possible to add an option to toggle it on/off like other mods?
It's not much of a hassle to just unsub from it if I want to go back to vanilla, but it would be useful to have.

I really like this mod and wish that something like this was in the base game. However, I have been experiencing an issue that I think (but am not 100% sure) is being caused by the mod: when I enter the first holy mountain, it's already collapsed and all the pickups and shop items are gone. This started happening often enough that I decided to turn off the save slot mod (it's the only mod I use regularly) and have not encountered the problem since. I don't have a crash report, as it did not cause a crash, and again, I can't be 100% sure that the mod was the problem, but I would guess I have started ~50 runs since turning it off and have not had the problem once, where it was happening maybe ~1 in 5 runs before turning it off.

As for Mods, modding is in my opinion one of the most impressive things to come out of gaming, I am not against any type of mod whatsoever, with very few real life threat exceptions. Mods should exist for what they are, improvements, enjoyment, cushioning, memes and more. Freedom of expression without harming others is a good thing.
If artist's were not allowed to modify each others work freely then we would have no Norse Mythology, No Egyptian Mythology, No Greek Mythology, No Aztech Mythology and by extension no Lovecraft Mythology and with all of that absent Noita would not exist today.
Furthermore Team Fortress got it's start as a massive overhaul mod. So if overhauls were never allowed well one of the highest rated first person shooter games would have never existed

People will complain about the most absurd things. I never said I wanted to satisfy everyone, just make the game as best as it can be for the majority of audiences. This may be a tough pill to swallow but there are people who can never be satisfied. They don't want to be satisfied and they may even like to complain.

I feel complex problem about difficulty control.
Dead Cells introduced Assist mode that doesn't disable achievements.
Some players like me might feel it could change enjoyable challenges less worth.
But many many many of players can't enjoy character's death, punishment for failure, and complain if a game refuse "I HAVE WON ALL CONTENTS OF THE GAME!!" without improving player skills.
Game developers need to confront demands of both veterans and casuals.
No one can make an entertainment that can satisfy EVERYONE.
I think mods exist for being cushion to fill the gaps, like table salt modify taste to match everyone's tongue.

Thanks Deerlord, I want to say a 4 things now for everyone to read.

1: First off, achievements online mean nothing to me, I go on personal achievements and am an honest person so people believe me when I say I have done something and under what conditions.

2: Second off, life is unforgiving and stressful enough, games give me and many others a break from that whilst still being actively involved in something. This enables something all games should give players the option to have by default.

3: Casual is for letting stress go and Challenge/Competitive is for the times when someone wants to test they're skills and patients, with Achievements as Trophies for they're hard work.

4: Lastly I would like to recommend to the staff of this amazing game to implement back in this as a toggle option when making a new game, and that it will warn you when you do choose to do a saved version that it disables steam achievements.

Sorry. I can't fix that NG+ bug, cuz this mod just enable save slot feature hidden inside Noita itself.
My apologize to corrupt your save data.

Mods let games behave unintended by game devs, means always having chance of data corruption.
Remember backing up files. I have formatted all progression in another game once.

Boy, this mod really doesn't work well if you've got NG+ data in the main slot. I realized this before seeing that warning.. but IDK if the method there is guaranteed to work... and it looks like I lost precious infinite wisp healing spells I had collected in the main run. I keep having normal runs in the save slots turn into NG+ runs without the benefit of HP, perks, wands, spells, you name it.

It's kinda maddening how this game works... best run ever but I can't unlock shit b/c it was a nightmare then NG+ run.. and it seems I can't just back up that file and restore after unlocking stuff. So I've been trying to use this mod to do that... and after days of sabotaging normal runs.. and apparently my nightmare run too.. *sigh*. :)

Kudos for the mod.. I definitely used it a ton before I ever won the game and tried nightmare, then NG+ from nightmare.. but I wish it would work with NG+ data too.

A bit complex.
You can change to other save slots from pause menu while playing main save.
When you select New Game from some situations, main save will be lost.

JUST NEVER IGNORE WARNING from game that tell you "current run will lost"

I would love to get this mod because sometimes i want to start fresh while i have 20-30 mins and not continue on my main playthrough. Just making sure but if i was playing on the main save and wanted to switch you want us to just use the main menu not the pause menu?

あくまでもプレイ状態を維持したまま別のプレイを開始できるだけであって、死んでもそのデータが消えなくなるわけではないです。
消滅するのは正しい挙動ですが半端な状態が残るのは謎です。
ゲーム自体に埋め込まれたセーブ機能を引っ張り出しているだけで、その辺の機能変更はできないのでご了承ください。
すぐ下のコメントにあるDead isn't Deadってmodが死んでもチェックポイントに戻されるやつらしいので、死亡後再開したい場合はそれがいいかもしれません。

うまく動作しないです。死亡した後新規ゲームから、本modメニューのセーブスロットを選んでもリスタートせず何も起こらない。
ゲームを再起動し、本modメニューのセーブスロットを選んでも、seedと地形破壊状態だけ維持された初期スタート地点になり、取得したアイテムはインベントリからも地形からも消滅している。もしくはセーブスロットが消滅している。

使い方がよくわからないです。:steamsad:

it checkpoints at the end of each perk room and when you die you go back there so the whole run isn't down the toilet because of some bull**** like described bellow :p

i just get so sick of the eternal repeats and that i'm just not good enough at the game to actually get a decent long lasting run going where i can have fun with the spells and whatnot as the best part of the game to me, by far. is to just mess with the wands, spells and combinations of what can be found, not to mention the terrain destruction is always fun. and yet after many hours of playing the game (many on a not legit copy i must admit) i still haven't really even scratched the surface of it all

same, was hoping for a more traditional save/load mod. i love this game a lot but i get so butthurt when i give it a few tries, finally get a really good run going where i have some cool spells with cool wands for me to then fuck up a bit, get down to 2 health left and then finally for a wee rifleman soldier thing to drop out of the sky literally and aimbot one-shot me the instant he hits the ground leaving me no time to even react.. yes this just happened to me if ya couldn't guess.. :q that's why i went looking for a save/load mod but alass no luck :,|

Good mod, but not what I was looking for. I was hoping for it to not delete the saves on death.

I see now that it's so you don't have to play the same run as last time you played - perhaps to keep a good run safe while you get in some practice or testing.

This mod never edit anything about menu. Just enabling hidden feature inside game itself.
You can add a gamemode by writing [is_game_mode="1"] in mod.xml
