@flamingfeather what you can probably do is make specialized units rather than splitting up the wargear. that's another way that GW is handling new units and their wargear. Like Sangheli Stealth squads that can take a few chaff spec op grunts or something which are melee focused. Give all brutes melee weapons, a chieftan/sgt that has the grav hammer etc.
FlamingFeather  [author] 21 Jun @ 10:14am
@Desara No kidding. I just built a Combat Patrol for 10th edition out of my nids, and this list is so much more powerful than what I could do with 500 pts of nids in 8th. Sense when did my chaff units get s 5+ armor save? I'm not complaining, I'm just blown away that Xenos got some actual love. And the divisions being the new sub-factions is good to be aware of.

I'll still need to get some games in, but I'll likely try and balance weapons on X per 10 models or something like that. Give an alternate or two for base weapons and then let the rest be "Heavy Weapons" for the squad. I worry about bloating the covie unit roster with variants like the Ranged vs Melee Warriors. As there are already so many races of troops. But we'll see what I have to end up doing. Though Banshees are 100% doing flybys. IDK if it's gonna be a Stratagm or a base ability. But they will be bombing fools.
FlamingFeather  [author] 21 Jun @ 10:00am
Prowlers complete in their entirety! All 96 variants are done and uploaded. Next we'll round off the biological units by going back and adding sleeping Grunts and the Brute and Elite Gunners that will Dismount from our new vehicles.
Desara 12 Jun @ 6:47am
@FlamingFeather GW didn't balance free wargear at all lol. You pretty much just take the best gear and that's it. So tons of plasma is running around for basically free so long as the models exist for it. Other than that; GW has started to take the approach that the wargear is just hard coded on the model like with Tyranid Warriors having a Melee datasheet and a Ranged datasheet rather than mix and match. Same goes with Tau Crisis Suits.

As for fliers actually helping, it'll be a rough cookie to crack. Mostly just has to be balanced in point costs. Would be nice to see Vampires 'stun' units in the air kinda like the Pheonix in Starcraft 2 and Banshees dropping bombs and doing flybys.
FlamingFeather  [author] 8 Jun @ 8:44am
28 more variants of the Prowler complete. Alternate Turret has been designed. Giving the Brutes access to the Incinerator Turret. Ya'll know what a flamethrower is. Now you can cook your enemies after you ran over their friends. 16 More variants to go before Prowlers are complete.
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jun @ 4:57pm
@Th3 H1VEMIND Ehhhhhhhy ....Though Ground Titan wise I'm planning several variants of the Scarab. With the crowning piece being the Giant Scarab from Halo Wars. The one you blow up in the campaign before it's fully built. Though I will have to see if I can find what the legs are suppose to look like on that thing. I don't remember seeing it fully assembled anywhere.
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jun @ 4:56pm
@Th3 H1VEMIND Ehhhhhhhy, Another Nid player. I have plans for the Covie's Infantry to interact a lot like how Nid HQs interact with their troop choices, by supporting particular units with strong buffs. So that your troop choices inform your HQ choices. So I figure you'll be very comfortable with how that works out.

But as far as flying Titans go, I could theoretically go for something like a Covie Corvette. But those things are over 900 meters long, rather than the few dozen meters long most Titans are in 40K. So I'm not sure what would fill a Flying Titan role. Other than maybe that up sized Phantom thing from Halo 4? (You may have been able to tell, but there's not much 343 stuff here)
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jun @ 4:49pm
@Desara Vampire is a great idea, thank you. I certainly hope to represent the Covie's heavy air presence in combat by making the air units that are present able to support ground units in unusual ways for 40K. So ideally at least Phantoms or a few banshees will be a common sight at 2K points.
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jun @ 4:32pm
After that I think I will go back to the Infantry and add the New Dismounted Gunners that will be needed for the Prowler and Specter. I'll likely also fulfill @TheRealShadowDoctor's old request of adding sleeping Grunts to the roster. Once those are done, all we'll have left on the Ground Vehicles is the Locust and Scarab. Then Air Vehicles and Engineers is all that's standing between us and a rule book.

Damn, I'mma need to get some games in from 10th edition to figure out what the balance feels like now adays. I've not really played sense 8th. Only did like 1 game of 9th. Hey, is Wargear still free in 10th edition? The concept of balancing free wargear is rather intimidating. XD
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jun @ 4:32pm
Alright, Initial Prowler with both the Mine Layer and the Clan Carrier attachments has been made. Saying "Fuck it" and slapping hand holds to the top of the Mine Layer felt very Brutish. So one of the Clan mates will have a very precarious seat when the vehicle is fully upgraded.

Now that the Main Prowler body is done with both attachments, the various stages of crew on the Clan Carrier, and the weapon variants should move by relatively quickly.
TH3 H1VEMIND 15 May @ 8:00pm
@FlamingFeather yes definitely banshees. As for other air units, I mean you can feasibly get about to as large as the T'au Manta, but that's more if you WANT both a ground and flying titanic unit. I play Tyranids and they get a bigass dragon in addition to the heirophaunt biotitan, so the tau aren't wholly unique in having massive flyers....however the manta is as big as it gets!
Desara 10 May @ 10:04pm
I think Banshees are a 100% Must and then just the Vampire like out of Halo Wars and the Phantom. That should cover a transport, anti-Air and general purpose fighter that most factions have and everyone pretty much ignores. @flamingfeather
FlamingFeather  [author] 4 May @ 7:23am
On a separate note, considering Warhammer 40k is so ground based, I don't intend to implement the Covie's full air force. But a few air units to keep them in line with other factions will be needed. Because of that, I was thinking of just going Banshee and Phantom. The Spirit simply isn't armed well enough to justify it being on a 40k battlefield. Maybe the Seraph?

What do you guys think should be present for Covenant's Air Roster? What role would you have it fill? To anyone who does respond, Thanks for your time and thoughts.
FlamingFeather  [author] 4 May @ 7:19am
17 more variants of the Prowler is complete. Still a good bit more to go. Still need the Turret variant and then the version that has both the Clan Carrier and the Shriker Mine Layer attached.

Anyone got good ideas for the turret? I was playing with going with some kind of Skewer or Brute Shot Variant.
FlamingFeather  [author] 4 May @ 2:51am
@TH3 H1VEMIND I'm sorry, I thought I had responded to you months ago. Sadly it seems the original book someone else did has sense been lost. I've been so busy working on the models that I've not worked much on a rule book. I've not had much luck finding something else as a stand in until I can actually get to the rulebook myself.

On the bright side tho, All I've got left until the rulebook is finishing the Prowlers, Do the locusts, and Engineers. And then Scarabs...... Then I have to figure out what air units to use. Likely Banshees and Phantoms. But all in all I'm actually getting near the end of this Great Journey.
TH3 H1VEMIND 30 Dec, 2024 @ 10:47pm
Holy smokes! I'd love to play but the 1d4chan link to the rules doesn't work anymore.....can you create a new link or upload a custom PDF into the mod? I remember seeing this a while ago and I had no clue you've been updating it after all this time!!
TheTwitchSniper 18 Dec, 2024 @ 2:18pm
@FlamingFeather it is a long and slow process, constantly rebuilding and rebalerncing
FlamingFeather  [author] 18 Dec, 2024 @ 5:55am
@TheTwitchSniper Glad to see! I'll poke through the rules you've got there, as another perspective on Covie rules will always help. The fact that these models are seeing use by other players on TTS is what keeps me working on this project 3 years after I started it.
FlamingFeather  [author] 18 Dec, 2024 @ 5:49am
Prowler progress continues. The basic Prowler and the Prowler with the Clan Carrier upgrades are complete. Well, as long as you don't look at the alternates the Clan Carriers need once they've unloaded their Brutes. Also you'll find the basic Prowler with the Shrieker Mine attachment has had it's first model completed.
TheTwitchSniper 14 Dec, 2024 @ 5:38am
Been making a Covenant Faction on BattleScribe, also made a reddit post recommending your figures!

This is a project I have given serious thought to. I'm happy to see that someone is already on it!
FlamingFeather  [author] 5 Jun, 2024 @ 5:00pm
@Acelee74 Life constantly moves forward. Thankfully it's been on the mend. Work comes and goes, but it's been enough to keep the roof over our head. Been putting a lot of work and effort into the games I have been making. I've got a game in the works now that I hope to have done in about a year. But all of the work I can do on it is done. So I'm mostly directing the efforts of freelancers when I can afford them. I've been spending design time on an ambitious game project, but that thing is very much in the oven. it'll need a lot of work, but I'm very happy with the concept.

Oh, we also have a little aquarium now. My partner has been getting the parts together for a small tank for awhile. So we have a small tank with a few micro fish, shrimp, and snails. We just got the shrimp a few days ago, and they're settling in nicely. She's very happy about the little guys. So life has been good. It's been tight, cause that's the cost of ambition, but good. Thanks for asking.
FlamingFeather  [author] 5 Jun, 2024 @ 4:43pm
Specters Complete! 96 models for 48 variants alongside 3 different carry states for riding infantry. Wargear for the specter will include an Unggoy Carrier to allow 8 additional passengers. As well as ramps on the front to deploy Portable Shields at points of interest.

This vehicle will do well racing out to objectives to establish a forward position with defenses and some infantry. Then either sticking around to support the fight or running to the back lines to load up and do it again.
Acelee74 4 Jun, 2024 @ 9:34pm
A bit off topic, but how are you? Were you able to settle in the Apartment nicely?
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jan, 2024 @ 12:17am
@Luiro007 Looks like the original link has gone down. Dude who put it up must of taken it down. I found it elsewhere for now. I look forward to reworking it but that'll come later.

Also, thank you!
luiro007 6 Jan, 2024 @ 10:06pm
Sorry I don't load the Codex page do you know why it can be?.

A great mod by the way, keep it up
TheRealShadowDoctor23 11 Nov, 2023 @ 10:02pm
I'm sorry to hear about that but I'm glad to see your back on your feet! No worries on the time it takes to make stuff no matter what the wait will be worth and look amazing. Glad to see your back and I hope it continues to stay good.
FlamingFeather  [author] 20 Oct, 2023 @ 5:02pm
Well gents. It's been 9 months sense I last updated you guys on what's going on. It has been around a year sense I became homeless. It is with great pleasure that I inform you that I have an apartment once again. We moved in 2 weeks ago, and we're still working on unpacking our lives again. But I wanted to celebrate this moment, so I finished the first model for the Brute Prowler. I'll be honest between real life and the actual video game I am working to create at this time. I don't know how often I will be able to update this project. But I've no intent on abandoning it. Expect to see the other Brute Prowler models trickle out here. Though if any of you have any fun upgrade ideas for those things, I'd love to hear it. So far I've got an alternative cannon, and the mine layers. But I need another upgrade for the chassis.
TheRealShadowDoctor23 10 Jan, 2023 @ 11:39pm
Sorry to hear that man. I hope for the best for you!
Cpl. Cemodracy 10 Jan, 2023 @ 7:39pm
Oh my god bro I'm sorry
Jeez I feel bad
FlamingFeather  [author] 10 Jan, 2023 @ 5:01am
So, you may have noticed, this thing hasn't been updated for several months. To be honest, I don't expect to update it for a few more, as I am, and have been homeless for the majority of the time sense the last update. Thankfully someone has been generous enough to let me crash on their couch for the winter months, so things haven't been too rough. But yea, I'll be getting back on my feet in the next month or two, finally gotten enough cash together to afford an apartment again. Once things get settled back in I'll finally get the Brute Prowler bashed together, and get back to work on this thing. But yea, I hope you guys have been able to enjoy what's been made so far.
JΛMIΣ 20 Sep, 2022 @ 2:49pm
those are grunts from halo my guy XD
Cpl. Cemodracy 13 Aug, 2022 @ 12:39pm
This isn't Warhammer, it's Halo.
Wzrd 7 Jul, 2022 @ 7:14pm
all good my dude. Once I get some time I may try this in the next game my tiny little group does.
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jul, 2022 @ 4:05am
@Wzrd I have to apologize for how long it took me to get back to you. The rule book is not my work, so I actually didn't know the answer for a while there. Looking into it I believe it is a 6th edition codex. Once I finish the models themselves I will be making a rulebook for 9th edition.... granted I need to actually play some 9th ed to do that. This and a number of other projects have been taking up a lot of my free time. I heard my buggy boys actually got buffed, so it should be fun when I get there.
FlamingFeather  [author] 7 Jul, 2022 @ 4:01am
All Revenant models have been completed! It is only pilot-able by Elites cause I don't feel like doubling the number of models I need to make for the Revenant. 48 variants is plenty! XD Players who decide to use the sub faction of "Schism (Brutes)" (Name WIP) will get access to the mine layer systems through the Brute Prowler. This son of a bitch took me 4 months to make, and to make fun of my hopes that this would be easier than the Brute Chopper, the Revenant took 67 renditions to get working. BUT on the bright side 2 of those months and 40 some of those renditions was resolving issues with having multiple figures on a vehicle. Cause TTS is a burning pile of code. But this work around I figured out means that I will be able to fully crew all future vehicles, from the Brute Prowler to the Scarab....... God I have so much work left to do.
Wzrd 20 May, 2022 @ 3:09am
is this current or 6th compatable? I'd do some play testing with 6th. Any chance at BFG? We could re-enact The Fall of Reach.
FlamingFeather  [author] 19 Mar, 2022 @ 3:17pm
@Lord Omega 117 Well thank you very much. I'm a long way off of getting to the codex editing stage, as I want to finish all of the models first. Though I'd love to see any rules you guys put together. If you're still interested when I get there, some editors who are actually interested in both Halo and 40K would be invaluable.
FlamingFeather  [author] 19 Mar, 2022 @ 3:07pm
IT TOOK ME 4 MONTHS, BUT IT'S DONE! Brute Choppers and all variants have been finished. Revenants will be the next project, and fingers crossed we won't have as many load issues as the chopper. *Stares at my 54 renditions of the Brute Chopper*
Lord Omega 117 16 Mar, 2022 @ 2:02pm
i love this mod. me and my friend are actually going to make a codex for these models to play with.
Axios 14 Jan, 2022 @ 3:56pm
Cheers! There's a great wealth of figures here that would be useful - textures or not. If / when I use any I'll be sure to credit as due.
FlamingFeather  [author] 13 Jan, 2022 @ 4:14pm
@Sir Derp Derpington Thank you! I have yet to sink my teeth into the codex. As of yet, that is someone else's work that I want to rebalance. But beyond that, this has been quite a passion project over the majority of a year now. So again, thank you
FlamingFeather  [author] 13 Jan, 2022 @ 4:12pm
@Axios I would be happy to see what others do with these creations. I don't have texture work for them, but you are welcome to use any models you find here.
Axios 13 Jan, 2022 @ 4:00pm
Hi Flaming Feather; would you mind if I incorporated some of your models into my own mod?

Sir Derp Derpington 27 Dec, 2021 @ 8:21pm
May I just give kudos to you my good sir for making all these lovely models and rules for a codex that shall almost never see play, and at such high quality as well. Hats off to you, good sir.
FlamingFeather  [author] 23 Dec, 2021 @ 11:47pm
Ghost Variants for Grunts, Jackals, and Elites completed.
Wraith and AAWraith variants for Grunts, Jackals, Elites, and Brutes completed.

Brutes won't get Ghosts, they'll get their Choppers next.
TheRealShadowDoctor23 11 Dec, 2021 @ 8:27pm
So Hyped about everything that gets released for the time im away from the Mod/Game. Everything is so well done and gives so much play ability for custom campaigns and the work is flawless every time. A real Gift to the TTS community if you ask me. Love this mod and everything is just mind blowing. Also I appreciate the temp compromise with the sleeping drones for the bug alien assets.

Hunters, Ghosts, and Chopper Complete.
FlamingFeather  [author] 26 Nov, 2021 @ 2:30pm
@therealshadowdoctor23 I remember you had asked for some sleeping Grunts, which I do plan on doing when I go back and rework them. But in the mean time, I made some Sleeping Drones you might be able to use.

The Bugger race has been completed!
