went to see if this was compatible with unit variations, nope. Either unit variations over writes this mod, or this mod overwrites unit variations.

I think there is an error in the morale of legionaries. They have 10 morale while the early legionaries have 16, which seems wrong. Was that intentional?

hoplites are wayyyyy too overpowered in this mod i can have them surrounded by swordsmen and they win somehow

I believe there is a bug from what I've seen with the Centurion and Standard Bearer of Rome swords disappearing in combat.

Tested it myself, there was a little problem. Now its corrected and runs fine. Will do a version for the "Original Unit Textures Upscaled" as a next in the line.

I havent got the time to test it. Just startet every singe one. But did not go past any turns. Would be nice to know if it runs. 10 turns should be fine.

I use onyl the ingame models I dont know how to model new units, therefore I cant change that. Did you try campaign? any crashes ?

Gotcha. Hey still thanks a ton for coming back, this mod is still super awesome! Another comment I had was the hoplite spear length, it seems a little cumbersome but I'm not a historian.

well, sadly it won't run together while my mod does changes model and texture file for some units (Egyp roster spartan hoplites and one new general unit for selucid and macedon). But I am working on a version with realistic models from old mod Romma surrectum II. It will be Vanila rome with those textures and hold the line features. But there is a lot work to be done as I have to change models of every singel unit. If you steel want to play with old vanila textures I can do a new version of this mod with unit intakt. Cant promisse if it works afterwards because sometimes they change the Descr_Units.txt file (which is core file for my mode) when they apply other models.

The mod seems to work by itself. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the most popular mod available called 'Original Unit Textures Upscaled', which confuses me, because all the mod theoretically does is just replace the textures, but I don't know much on how the game works. I got an error code when trying to run both mods, if you're interested in looking into that.

If I'm not mistaken, your Mod is currently down since the last update. I fixed one of the lines that was causing a bug.
The line: attributes => ............................._hardy, general_unit_upgrade "marian_reforms"
"Marian_reforms" was missing at the end of the line in the "descr_unit" file.

cataphract horse-archers also seem weak.. they are getting shot down like nothing, even by normal arrow fire from frontal side..
edit: even heavy armenian pike men suffer great losses frontal on by horse archers from parthia. those horse archers also outrange my regular archers, although i should have much more range, according to the unit cards.. are they extremely bugged?

i like how battles last longer, formations act MUCH better and cavalry finally gets rekt head on vs spears.. vanilla is a joke at this point.. but one thing is the gamebreaker for me: why on earth would you remove phalanx? thats one of the most iconic things of this time era.. and now every phalanx unit becomes as boring as triarii units..
but i still have to admit that the game already gets greatly improved with this mod.. thank you! now we can actually have actual BATTLES instead of units instantly fleeing. i wish there was there was a better compatibility with mods like a bigger campaign map, more recruitable mercenaries, UI changes and such..

@Soviet Arvaraad one spartan unit is a standard other is a general bodyguard. In campaign you train just the former. You can see both only in custom battles. Well aoutflank them they die realy fast that way, or throw some pila/javelins from behind. problem with egypt I'll look into it.

2 problems i've spotted with this mod, one egypt unit cards are all peasants in custom battle and their are 2 spartan units? Also wtf spartans are gross, I remember in vanilla they were monsters but now they are horrifying! they beat a unit of urban cohorts after the cohort got all their pila and charge off!

I am not familiar with that mod. It's possible that he moded files which he has not before and now they are in conflict with Hold the Line files.

Testudobugg is an AI bug. I had it in vanilla as well. For me klicking on loose formation and back tight formation was always the cure. Or group->single line and again ungroup.
