Stig's skaven unit pack and ChaosRobie's Moulder Menagerie both contain the giant rats, if you would like examples of how they work.

@zerg93, You could however make Rat Riders on Giant Rats, if you so wished.

From what I can tell, all of the giant rat units on the workshop are technically just reskins of the Brood Horror as both use the same animations. Theoretically you could make a cavalry unit through this method.

And it would be 100% lore accurate as rat riders are said to be mounted upon giant rats, not wolf rats.

@AirborneSeals Clanrats, Goblin riders and Wolf rats have unique animation sets and skeletons which are not compatible with each other.
While I don't exclude the possibility to have Goblin riders on Wolf rats by forcefully using the Goblin riders animation, having Clanrats or other Skaven units on Wolf rats It's another story.
For all I know the Skaven have only two rider animations: Brood Horror and Rat Ogre mount.
And I think that by now you already guess It but: Brood Horrors and Wolf rats have different and unique animation set and skeleton which are not compatible with each other.
The only thing you can achieve by forcefully putting together models that are tied to different skeletons and animations Is a highly distorted and broken model.

Are they custom animations? I was just thinking of putting the skaven model over the goblin and the wolf rat model over the wolf.
Don't know if that's possible though.

Could you make rat riders? I mean I'm no modder but I'm pretty sure that the wolf rats already use the wolf animations, and we have goblin wolf riders, so do you think you could turn the goblin into a clanrat and the wolf into a wolf rat?
It would really make the skaven feel like a much more well-rounded faction, because the units they're currently missing are flying units and cavalry.

That's also a really good point. And I think Giant Pox Rats are mutations of Wolf Rats as well, so they basically have to go through 3 different mutations.

@Skritch While I do agree that the concept of rarity can be kinda vague when dealing with factions like Skaven and Greenskins that mainly rely on endless hordes, I think that Brood Horrors are an exception.
We should take into account the following:
-There can only be 1 single Brood Horror in an entire brood of Giant Pox Rats which requires a specific mutation and to devour the rest of said brood.
-Brood Horrors are highly prized by Clan Moulder and will only trade them from huge quantities of slaves and/or warpstone.
-Few Warlords can be so wealthy and powerful to sustain such costs.
That said I do believe that while a legion of Great Pox Rats would be a common sight, a legion of Brood Horrors (while still possible by any means) would be an "uncommon" one.

I have no problem with the caps, but on that note, "rare" doesn't exactly mean much to the skaven.

Oh cool, I'm gona stick with this mod until I'm finished my Skaven Vortex campaign, it's going well and I don't wona mess up the save. 1,000 hours logged in TWW2 through Steam, and this is my first Vortex campaign that I've played for more then 2 hours lol.

@Purge8642 I mainly capped them for balance concerns and because Brood Horrors are supposed to be rare units.
If you are not comfortable with caps there Is already a capless version in the mod's description, not sure if switching It now Is going to mess up your save or not though.

Ok, sadly the vanilla Monstrous Cavalry spacing wasn't good enough since they were WAY too close to each other.
So I went ahead and make a custom version of It: now they should look more like a proper monstrous cavalry than before.

Hey, great mod. I really like the pack of Brood Horrors because, IMO, they seem like a pack animal and belong in groups. Just one question, why are all the Horrors so spread out in their formation, and why is said formation restricted to such a small rectangle? I don't mod or know how this all works, but if at all possible, it'd be awesome to get a formation like the Demigryph Knights or Blood Crushers from TWW3's Khorne roster.

You should ask to someone with previous experience with Skaven custom animations and skeletons.

They're no Skaven Hog Riders, but it's still a really nice mod to have. Especially when I always preferred to have multiple brood horrors in one unit, anyway.
