Just a little note/update while I have a few seconds access to steam: The laptop I use to access steam and make mods has physicaly faen apart. As such I cannot work on mods, and have no idea when I will be able to again. I'm so sorry eveyone :/

Still working on the rebuild of this mod, but currently deadlocked through to small rodent brain not working correctly. In theory it only needs a couple minor fixes to work as initially intended.

@Oats: Thank you for your kind words! I had hoped to have had the mod remade by now, but annoyingly enough a couple weeks ago my monitor died. Got the replacement parts today, hopefully shouldn't be too much longer a wait!

It's the first mod I got for Rimworld, my colonies don't feel the same without the Springhares ^^

Hope to eventually see a return, but there's no rush from me :steamthumbsup:

The Big S A D: As of right now.. .working on it! I've only just had the time to get back into anything aside work (I miss rimworld D: ). Between the 1.4 update and new plans for my Rimworld Mods, I have to admit I'll likely be moving to a new mod with updated/new code and new pathing. It's going to be a pretty large change.

Oats: You've brightened my day with this ;3; I've just started looking at the 1.4 changes and what I'll need to do... and honestly it looks like the entire mod will need to be more or less rewritten to make it good for the next while. Between that and some more mods I was working on before life pulled me away (such as the feral-species Grimalkin mod that was 95% done), I'll be releasing as a new mod later alongside others using similar coding for ease int he future. Watch this space I guess!

@Sir NutNut: So glad the issue got worked out, I'd have been rather stumped!

@Sabrael324: Good catch! I'll be reworking the mod pretty soon, and between this comment plaguing my mind and a couple others.. as well as some plans being hatched... I'll be playing it safe and shunting off the Bonewood aspects from this mod for now, with the intent of making a more dedicated Aniplantae and Bonewood standalone mod. I guess watch this space...

toradrow777: Currently I do not have any plans for CE compatibility due to time and effort constraints. I need to put a lot of work back into this and a couple other mods... once they're sorted out I'll check.

Parow: The Bonewood sciences currently require a Springhare for the know how to work such projects. This will change in the future though, I'm currently stripping bonewood tech from this mod to add to a dedicated one with the Aniplantae they come from. My apologies!

Does the springhare mod research have any requirements? My colonists - all modded races but none of them springhares - refuse to research bone china, and since im trying to do a "laissez faire" tribal run where they research whatever... Its becoming kind of a problem to have them stuck on researching bone china.

Odd interaction with this mod and Rim of Madness: Bones. When both are enabled (regardless of load order), bones (RoM:B) no longer have textures, and neither do any of the bonewood china bricks.

@Sir NutNut the Unknown Kingdoms are from VFE Medieval. It's unlikely to have anything to do with this mod if the issue is caused by the unknown kingdoms. Unless you tried to modify or delete them I'm not sure why they would give you an issue like this, maybe try asking the Vanilla Expanded trouble shooters?

thanks for the advice with prepare carefully, but I played that playthorugh for some days already without an issue. so i dont think its prepare carefully, or?
But no, i didnt remove anything. maybe some update of another mod?
but in the end, I think it's unsolvable. I only have one save, so i cant go back, i cant figure out what these two unknown kingdoms are, which seem to cause the problem now.
I will probably start another run soon.
I very well knew about the risks when playing with so many mods.
But man, am I bad at math.

@Sir NutNut: Hm, that is strange indeed! Looking through the error log, frustratingly I can't see if that's caused by the Springhares or another mod, so sorry. in fact the only thing I do notice is you seem to use Prepare Carefully, which I believe breaks a lot of custom races and some other mods. I don't know if that mod plays well with Springhares or not but might be worth checking for another customisation mod, such as Character Editor, for future playthroughs in any case? please do keep me updated if you manage to narrow down the issues to the springhare race! In theory the settlements for new games should be at 0, but that should not affect saved games.

i dont know if it's still the springhare mod, but my problem keeps on persisting. unsubscribed and resubscribed. still the same issue, but i cant tell which factions causes my problem, because they are two hidden factions with the name "unknown kingdom"

Looks like it's fixed, thanks a bunch! If anyone else still has the same issue try unsubing and resubscribing to force steam to update it.

Has the last update changed anything about the factions this mod generates? I hate to blame you or your mod but when I open my most recent save it fails to load this mod's factions. This is completely breaking the world map, both all map icons and the entire U.I disappear because of it. The logs specifically state failures to load the references for both Springhare civil and section FactionDefs.

@MoldyChip: If you can get a copy of any log errors that happen when this problem crops up, it'd be appreciated! Finally getting free time for a couple months, and thus am looking at updating the mod generally shortly!

im not fully sure if its this mod or not, i'll have to test it out more, but i think that this mod may be causing my game to have a ton of lag spikes when the springhares are looking for plants to eat. it may be another mod causing this, but everytime i run out of food and the springhares start to eat plants, it slows the game down a lot.

@DarkLink: Springhares are of the genus Pedetes, family Pedetidae, in the order Rodentia. Despite their name, they are rodents, and unrelated to rabbits or hares. Pedetes Inanis is a specific species of Springhare/Pedetes created by myself, but there are two real life springhare species within Pedetes. @ShootYourGooMyDude: Springhares have their diet set so that they can eat grass, bushes and other small vegitation (not trees, though!). This was both due to real life springhare diets and also to balence out the fact they cannot eat meat. Currently they get no mood debuff from eating raw plants... but I may well change that soon (can't have things too easy!)

Could you add an option to make the weapons optional? Any pawn who uses the weapons while using the Combat Extended mod wont be able to fire any of the weapons if you have ammunition enabled. I think that would be a simple solution to the problem, while in the future you might think about making it compatible with Combat Extended.

@yotsuhirasaka No, Overgrowth is a game about rabbits/lapines engaging in paw-to-paw fighting. This mod is based on my own space-based Springhares (Pedetes Inanis), based on the real like rodent called Springhares, who are not particularly good at paw-to-paw fighting, though are very handy at making Bonewood China!

@Krazyfan1 The one Springhare mod is still avaliable on the workshop as a seperate mod as there were so many changes that if people had upgraded then their saved colony would at minimum have all Springhares despawn or at worse have the saved game break entirely. The 'best' solution was to upload as an entirely new mod to avoid that.
