(2/2) Funnily enough, I've realised the ending move almost immediately, but got stuck for a long time thinking that it was impossible to use the regular cube to disable the fizzler near the jail bars. It really made my head hurt. Once I've got past that, the ending was a satisfying sequence of moves. The cleverest use of cube & turret climbing I've yet seen in a map without a doubt.

Overall, this map has been a refreshing experience. I'd like to add that it's aesthetically beautiful too c:

(1/2) This is a spectacular map! I would have never thought I'd get to play a well-designed and very difficult turret puzzle, in fact, it's also the hardest map I've yet solved.

I was somewhat frustrated with placing the turret facing sideways on the light bridge to get the laser cube. It felt unintended, given the inconsistent physics of it, and I've spent a long time trying to come up with a better solution. Is there a better method? Nonetheless, the rest of the map has more than made up for that with its creative moves. I also didn't mind the long walking at all. It doesn't really matter if your mind is preoccupied after all :D

Ridiculous in the best way possible! Good way to spend an afternoon, and to uncover so brilliant logic! Faved and awarded!

Very sorry for the long overdue answer! Thank you so much for playing and for your comprehensive comment, it's always a blast to see such detailed feedback! This map is quite a monstrosity so great job solving it. Weird that the turret seemed to fall over, I thought I made that quite reliable by using a track platform (which are slower than piston platform by default).
@masaltzero
I mean, this map is SUPPOSED to kick your ass, so that sounds about right :P thanks for playing, and congrats for beating it!

amazing, amazing map. this map kicked my ass so hard.... but i love it still. wild logic here, easy favorite from me. :steamthumbsup: turrets forever:p2cube:

The only turret thing missing would be to blow it up and make the shock wave move something or make the turret shoot at something . I'm thinking of an "orange cube - something" ;D

P.S. again a spare cube in the end? :'(

Fun fact: I let Chrome back-translate your last message to eer55 into German and it still makes PERFECT sense :steamhappy: translation tools have become pretty reliable today thanks to modern AI.

...*I NEVER used this move , instead I put a cube under the turret dropper to be rid of it once I come back down. So since I never set foot again into that area at the entrance but clearly recognized the hint (carved out floor panel) I had no idea what else to do whit it for a long time ^^
When I finally found out how to bring up the turret, the rest was more or less plain sailing.
What a huge relief when I solved that map (on my own!) after such a long time. Oof!
Btw I'm fine with "a lot of walking" and YES, "the nice logic makes it up" :steamthumbsup:
The turret using the elevator platform was more of an issue (well... swinging with the turret wasn't fun either ;-P) Turns out it needs to face the wall (or the chamber) - if it is turned to the side it would fall over! I was hoping this didn't turn into an escort mission ^^ eventually the turret was brave enough to survive the elevator part ;-)

Easy map - took me only a week XD 8/10 is about right.
Seriously, it's fantastic. 3-2-1-favourite (as well as the thumbs up of course)
Watched the 11 minute playthrough by Joric (which you approved) and did it MOSTLY* (see next comment) the same way. I also did the mystery move ( respwaning the regular cube from up above ) Joric style .
I appreciate the on-screen notes. It helps with the core move ("turret, jail bars & elevator") leading to the final setup.
I spawned the cubes with almost no trouble, even found the cc achievement (hooray!), and respawned the cubes at the upper level with minor to medium trouble. What haunted me the most was how to get the turret to the elevator cause I didn't see the obvious! ( bringing it through the life sensor ) Things got really hard because I was distracted...

Holy Moly ! This map was awesome ! It took me around 6 hours but it was worth it, great logic with great moves. This might be the best and hardest turret puzzle in the workshop :steamthumbsup: Favorited !
Leo  [author] 12 Jan, 2022 @ 1:58pm
@Aneonen
Restrictive is the word indeed! Honestly I wasn't expecting that one would grow to be such a brutal puzzle when I started working on it. I perfectly understand about noclipping, the turret can behave in weird ways sometimes... wish I could have done more to make a few moves more consistent, but oh well
Aneonen 9 Jan, 2022 @ 12:36pm
Finally found some time to crunch this one - excellent puzzle! Quite impressed that the map looks so open while still being brutally restrictive with player/cube/turret movement. I found the most difficult segment to be realizing that the turret needed to be moved before collecting the first cube up top. The fact that the storage cube isn't explicitly needed at the exit is a nice touch as well. Noclipped a bit to force the turret to behave but I don't mind muscling the game into working intuitively.
Leo  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 9:08am
@Oblivious Owl
Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed it despite the turret's somewhat janky physics and hitbox!
@Narkodes
Thank you very much for the nice words, and for helping improve the map. It's not always obvious for the author to spot such inconveniences in the design, and your opinion is always helpful. Glad you liked the logic!
Narkodes 22 Jul, 2021 @ 9:39am
Proper comment: Fantastic map! As discussed before, I had some trouble with the previous iterations and got a bit frustrated: the misleading half panel, the half surface on the floor (and the cramped glas-lifesensor setup). . With the updates, that stuff got fixed. The result is just great. Many nice moves, good use of the turret, clean logic. I also like that the final setup isn't obvious in the beginning. Big thumbs up from me. Definitely one of the best "turret maps" out there and probably the best (hard) map I played in the last months.
Oblivious Owl 22 Jul, 2021 @ 8:14am
Whew! It took me a while to finally solve this map! I have to admit that moving the turret around can be a bit frustrating at times due to the physics of it, but that's more than made up for by how clever the uses of it are. Wonderful puzzle!
jandlml 12 Jul, 2021 @ 5:59pm

You weren't annoying at all, in fact your numerous comments only show how much time and dedication you put into hard maps such as this one, and I really appreciate that! If anybody was unhappy with your comments/questions, I would argue that their opinion shouldn't be worthy of your consideration because ultimately it is none of their concern, and I would advise that somebody to find something better to do. Anyway thanks a lot for playing and for the award as well!
jandlml 11 Jul, 2021 @ 5:08pm
well since im been told ( in no uncertain terms) to keep my comments/questions brief. sorry if ive been annoying. this was an amazing map. finished the first half on my own but needed lots of help with the second part, i knew the set up very early just couldnt get there . Great Job Leo maybe next time i can do it all myself a definite award is given ! :steamhappy:
Leo  [author] 10 Jul, 2021 @ 1:49am
@jandlml
Your reasoning is correct, the only way to bring the turret up there is having it ride the lift. However you need to do that while maintaining a portal on the upper surface, which means you can't place a cube on the lift button through a portal, you must walk there. After placing the turret on the lift, you have to get out of that area without crossing the lifeform sensor and going through the laser surface isn't a option. That means that's when the little area accessible by cube-climbing comes into play. Also, the cube gets stuck in the area behind the jail bars, so you must choose in advance which cube you want to bring there so that you'll be able to respawn it later. I also would like to point out, just in case, that once you have a cube in the highest area behind the yellow fizzler, you can access that area by flinging out of the angled panel and cube climbing. That's definitely important. Hope it helps, and that it's not too confusing!
jandlml 9 Jul, 2021 @ 7:03pm
nope totally lost . i have been just going crazy trying to figure out how to get the turret to the top behind the yellow wall. i can think of only one way that i can get it there . that is by placing it on the lift ,taking a cube through already established portal to the lift button and putting the cube on the button. then the turret is transported up to the top.but in order to do that i loose the connection to the top area to get to it once it gets to the top. i see absolutely no other way to get it to the top. if you can give me a hint as to the right way i would soooooo appreciate it. i really would like to finish this map
Joric 9 Jul, 2021 @ 6:36pm
@jandlml there's no scenario where this configuration will ever work. Hope it helps you unstuck a little bit.
jandlml 9 Jul, 2021 @ 1:15pm
i have the laser cube in the area behind the little yellow wall. so i can bring it down to the button that opens the fizzle wall . i also have the bridge connected to the portal surface on the wall and the regular cube is on that. so that is how i was able to spawn the turret and get it to the top but not in the right position. but i realize i can get a connection to a few of the other surfaces and still be able to get to the other side of the yellow wall. i think the biggest problem im having is finding a way to get the turret to the other side of the yellow wall,which i can do, but once i get it there i cant get to it.
Leo  [author] 9 Jul, 2021 @ 11:45am
@jandlml
If I understood correctly, your current setup is fine. However at this point you don't really need a portal connection to the laser surface. A few days ago you said you "managed to get the laser cube to the top". Did you mean in the the portalable piston platform area, or in the area even one block higher, past the yellow fizzler? The latter is definitely what you want to aim for at the moment.
jandlml 8 Jul, 2021 @ 7:08pm
i am just totally stuck. i have all the elements in the lift room,both cubes and the turret. i have a portal on the laser surface and one on the surface above the lift button. so im connected to that part of the map without having to go through the turret respawn wall. i dont know if i can do anything at this point or just go back to my save which has the bridge at the top portal surface and the laser cube at the top.with access to the regular cube on the bridge. the turret is gone at this point.
jandlml 8 Jul, 2021 @ 7:02pm
anyone else having trouble uploading pictures?
jandlml 8 Jul, 2021 @ 6:02pm
ok thanks i have been just going crazy trying to figure out how to get that turret up there , i actually found a way but then i cant get back up to move it into place,and i think i found a way to use the back staircases.but i just cant find a way to use them when i need them. how long have i been working on this a week?
Leo  [author] 8 Jul, 2021 @ 2:58am
@hub
Perfect solution as well! Very well done, thanks for your time!
@jandlml
Yes, your exit strategy is exactly right. That's why a key step of the puzzle is figuring out how to bring the turret up there, where it needs to be for the end. Another crucial thing to realise is that you need to be very careful to be able to go back to the upper area at all times. That means you have to maintain a portal connection up there most of the time, or allow you a way back up. Of course the little area behind the button that deactivates the fizzler is used, later in the solution. Finally, as Joric said, that setup with the turret climbing crossed out signage is meant to allow you to climb with a cube but not the turret.
Joric 7 Jul, 2021 @ 9:42pm
@jandlml that sign is crossed it indicates that you can't climb on the turret there.
jandlml 7 Jul, 2021 @ 9:27pm
should you be able to climb on the turret to get up the incline near the yellow wall on the top floor. thats what the little sign seems to indicate. but i cant do it. i can only get halfway and then i cant seem to jump anymore.
Joric 7 Jul, 2021 @ 8:51pm
@hub But yeah it's much easier to get the "1st cube again" as you did (I did the long way there, longer than lapicidas). I agree it's better. Аnd the "move", well looks like it's encouraged by the author so it's fine, also saves some walking.
Joric 7 Jul, 2021 @ 5:46pm
@hub still the MOVE OF MISTERY at 11:03. It's supposed to be as 7:27 in lapicidas playthrough.
jandlml 7 Jul, 2021 @ 5:10pm
right now i can switch the cubes if need be.in doing so i will loose the portal and bridge through the portal on the upper wall. which i will loose anyway if i switch out the cubes. right now i can keep connected to the bridge area . so far thats as far as i can figure out anything to do. is the areas behind the button and lift part of the puzzle. it seems like there is a use but i cant come up with anything
jandlml 7 Jul, 2021 @ 5:02pm
is this the right set up to get out the door a portal on the upper wall ,the laser cube pointing the laser past where the turret is placed when respawned , a turret up on top to block the laser beam just long enough to get to the lift. this seems like it would work to be able to get to the lift on time. but i just cant figure out how to get it set. if its not right i want to stop trying and look for another way.

Leo  [author] 7 Jul, 2021 @ 5:40am
@Joric @lapicidas
Brilliant videos! Both of your solutions are now 100% intended with only minor variations. Thanks a lot for sticking with it! Regarding the "move of mystery" (for lack of a better name lol), lapicidas shows the way I had in mind. But Joric, you can consider your way a valid alternative. Finally, lapicidas, this unintended solution in your latest comment is quite sneaky! I think it's obscure enough though. Once more, fantastic work solving this tough map multiple times!
lapicidas 6 Jul, 2021 @ 9:18pm
The unintended solution I mentioned in my first comment I could now repeat similarly.
At that time I used the turret in the portal , but it is easier with the cube:

lapicidas 6 Jul, 2021 @ 8:13pm
....and don't forget the companion cube: https://youtu.be/h9T-41vAnRU ;-)
Joric 6 Jul, 2021 @ 7:51pm
@lapicidas so your MOVE OF MYSTERY is 7:27. I thought may be that's it but it doesn't look too well either. @Leo?
lapicidas 6 Jul, 2021 @ 7:36pm
I also made another video after the last update (6) - I really enjoy this map :steamhappy:
Again with double speed: https://youtu.be/vFllDO-PBCA
It largely coincides with the @Joric playthrough with a few exceptions like that I got the reflector cube differently the second time and I did not use this ominous "MOVE OF MYSTERY" either,
it works actually a little easier :steammocking:

Not worth fixing, it doesn't really skip anything
Joric 6 Jul, 2021 @ 3:08pm
@Leo what about protection against the "slightly easier way" of obtaining the regular cube above that's super unintended and used unintendedly in all the solutions?
Leo  [author] 6 Jul, 2021 @ 2:50pm
To whomever might be interested, a big update has been released to fix all the unintended solutions I'm aware of as of now!
Leo  [author] 6 Jul, 2021 @ 10:13am
@jandlml
Sounds like you're on the right track. The button that deactivates the fizzler will come into play soon, you may want to think about which cube(s) to bring there
@hub
Impressive video! Your way to get the laser cube is obviously unintended as stated in the description, but that's fine. There were some other unintended sequences, which will probably be fixed with the next update I'm planning. Thanks a lot for playing, and amazing job reaching the exit!
@Joric
Adding an exit button would only add extra elements without forcing additional move so I will refrain from doing that.
Joric 6 Jul, 2021 @ 3:49am
@hub whoa that's like a proper speedrun, perfect moves
@jandlml you still need portal on top pass turret through the lifeform sensor
@Leo looks like exit needs an extra button as people were able to bring the cube there
