Hi there! Death's Door from DD is one of my favourite aspects of it so I'm glad to see it imported to one of my other favourite games. Wanted to ask if installing it in the middle of a playthrough would at all corrupt my run? Apologies if it's an obvious question, I'm wary of how much XCOM 2 likes to break over nothing.

i toss grenade on enemy in first mission and instead of dying "death's door" appears above his head and he stays alive with 1hp

I just had this funny question: Can I use a mod like Advent Research to assign the Death's Door ability randomly to enemies not covered under the blanket rule defined in this mod's XcomGame.ini?

I suppose it is not possible to have a condfig option to allow crits to bypass the effect at this time. Seems like an underrated mod in general.

depends how it works under the hood. Can't say I've tested and I would guess it bypasses this as well.

Thanks! And another question: The Fanatic Inquisitors in A Harder War: The Fanatics have an ability to instantly kill dazed soldiers, bypassing Sustain and whatnot. Not much of a stretch to say that such an ability bypasses Death's Door as well?

How do I add the ability to Resistance soldiers? (for the retaliation quest, not sure if it is only a LWOTC thing or not)
can't find it in DefaultGameData_CharacterStats.ini

The biggest issue is Sectoids and Psi Zombies. A Sectoid once killed also kills the raised Psi Zombie, but with this mod, the Psi Zombie survives when it shouldn't.

This makes alien rulers an absolute nightmare when combined with Alien Rulers Regen and Cloned Alien Rulers, nothing worse then one of them escaping through a portal thanks to deaths door kicking in.

As for the Lost, with the amount of mods I run they kind of became a joke, for I could usually slaughter them whole sale before they could even get close to anyone, so with deaths door, it makes them a serious threat even with high damage setups.

BTW, would I have to start a new playthrough for this to take affect? Because I think part of my problem has been trying to test this on the Reaper-Skirmisher mission.

you need to add them to the "excluded units" array which become a whitelist with the ConvertToWhitelist = true option like so:
+ExcludedUnits = "Soldier "
+ExcludedUnits = "ReaperSoldier "
...
You then also probably want to take out the existing ones as you don't want to give to ability to those

When trying to enable Death's Door for only soldiers, should it be like this?

Soldier - regular soldiers
ReaperSoldier - Reapers
SkirmisherSoldier - Skirmishers

To be honest, this was a bit of a joke mod I made in one night and for whatever reason decided to release publicly. Balancing was not really a concern and it is configurable so you can do whatever you want with it.

Perhaps, but mechanically speaking, it makes the Lost monstrously, disproportionately more dangerous, ESPECIALLY if someone's using one of the mods that replaces Lost with something else like Orks or Flood.

@[DG] Z Type Knight You are free to make and release those mods, and I do know how darkest Dungeon works. I just felt it would make more sense (inc xcom) for it to be universal but there are directions how to make it only affect xcom side.

Awesome. Two more things we can borrow from Darkest Dungeon:

1. Stress-induced heart attacks (triggers if Will reaches zero, has their HP lowered to 1, or insta-death if already on 1 HP.)

2. Afflictions and virtues (Negative traits already sort of serve as afflictions.)

One more thing: In Darkest Dungeon, only you get the benefit of Death's Door. Your enemies die instantly when their HP hits zero. Can attest as I have played Darkest Dungeon myself.

I've noticed that by default, the lost also gain Death's Door. I think I got them to be exempt, would you mind if I leave in the discussions the ini params for that?

@CaseyAnthony Well the ability is pretty much sustain without the stasis, and both would break if given to Captains or Codices

@Kolonel Kimchi Everything is possible, but I wanted to keep it close to the source material.

@Haite As stated in the description, sustain triggers first. The unit wont get the debuff and as it is left with one health they cant trigger deaths door until healed. Sustain makes the unit untargetable and immune for the remainder of the turn so its stronger as aliens can't just double tap if out of cover

is it possible to add a stun effect on death's door proc? It would prevent the disincentivizing of mutual flanking since you could end up on a trade instead of just a kill.

As a man who has suffered SEVERAL out of nowhere crit-through-full-cover-from-full-health deaths in the early game where you just aren't given a say. This is a godsend. Thank you.
