@Lutha, point of fact, garry never set up the gmod map editor, you need to use the one from source 2013 in a way that it will be able to use content from gmod and other games. I used a tool to make a custom config which essentially created a dummy game that couldn't be used to play, but could be used in hammer for mapping. i hope that will help you. and fyi, source sdk is being phased out. hammer map editor is now in the bin folder of most new source games. But as i said, gmod hammer is not active. I hope this post helps out anybody who wants to map in gmod.

Yes, that was one of the first things i tried when i downloaded the map, but it only changes the sky, not the lightning, that's why i'm suggesting enabling fog editing, with certain tweaks, it can make a map darker and still allow for additional light sources (Lamps, lights, etc).

It's too bad that now you are having problems with this map, i don't know a lot about mapping (Heck, i can't even get SDK to work), but i wish you success.

@Lutha i forgot to mention this: the sky editor works in this map. the skybox is the "painted" texture. it's night because of an env_skypaint i added and configured

@.lOnke^ #EskapisteN the window texture isn't a nodraw. it was a failed map teleport. i didn't use the trigger texture and now it's glitched. BADLY, and it's not total darkness for me. the lights in the map still lit it for me. i don't have the texture bug, and i know it has to do with content. cubemaps probably make it worse. The floor problem i NEVER had. And another likely culprit is the fact that my original vmf was made by bspsrc aka a map DECOMPILER! This map was based on the original v4c. Also, the window texture, i'm likely not fixing.

The purple reflection problem has to do with cubemaps. If you set mat_specular to 0 the map works fine.

Also, did you seriously REMOVE the light_enviroment completly? Then it's not fucking night it's just complete fucking darkness.

@fatmusso it may have to do with the way i compiled the map. i had to make a fake game with all the content linked to actually compile this map because gmod hammer is not working for ANYBODY cause garry never set it up. It may be requiring hl2, i had selected that content to be used in the fake game. And before you say it, no it is not a vac banable offence. It's the ONLY way to use hammer, and i couldn't even use the hammer with gmod! i had to use hammer from the sdk base 2013! so my advice to fix it may be to get hl2, it works for me just fine on my main user (i don't think i own hl2 on this one) so I'd have to do further testing before releasing a fix, it may not work at all if i don't include the content

hey guys when i play on this map the roads and windows are all purple i dont think that is meant to happen how can i stop this?

I suggest adding Fog Editor support, with this, along with the sky editor you can change to a certain extent the look on the map if you want to "set" it to day or night.

Well, you were right. I checked the map and found a light_environment in the spawn area. I'm going to test the map after a recompile then if it worked i will republish it with the changes. And the bunch of light points i found were actually street lights on doors. And some underground

i don't know if it even USES light_environment. i can see light points throughout the map, like it was set that way for a reason. I'll see if i can fix it up a bit, but as far as a release date for the fix, i don't have one yet.

Locate the light_environment and remove it. Simple as that.

@Sypher The light was from the original rp_downtown_v4c this map is based on. I had to decompile the map to edit it. It would have taken too long to remove all the lights, and i wanted to release a test version. If i get popular demand to do so, i'll remove most of the light points. I'm probably going to remove some of the background sound i hate too. When i join the game and walk into certain areas, annoying (to me) sounds play.
