There is a big diffrence.(Crab synth in locked to ground and has a minigun) (The mortar synth can fly and lobs bombs) Small diffrence?

the motar synth is the same thing as the crab synth the crab synth has a minigun and the motar synth shots a SMG granade and shots 2 enegry balls

sk_mortarsynth_smg_grenade_time: Defines after how many seconds the mortarsynth will launch another SMG Grenade. 0 will always launch a SMG Grenade.

so this is gonna be the second of my GMOD MOD REVIEWS!!! and sorry if im posting this late :<
this mod adds a SNPC for your game! it can be found with the other combine baddies. lets get into the pros and cons!

PRO 1: very balenced for a synth (can kill with regular bullets)
PRO 2: very fun to fight (ill suggest having many of these guys)
PRO 3: fast, agile, and sometimes hard hitting=F.U.N
PRO 4: good model, sounds, animations and behaviours
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CON 1: very low health
CON 2: likes to run
CON 3: i think it requires VJ base but you can say otherwise
(these cons aren't very bad tho)

I enjoy the idea of a normal enemy that encourages using it's own projectiles against it, the baseball game play the gravity gun gives is really fun, thanks

you can still make the mod but ive seen another mod with gold source npcs to by the creator of vj base but now gold source weapons.

yes, it is the unreal gold snpcs. nobody had shown any attempts to script those npcs, so I did nearly most of these, and also included unreal gold sweps so it is a full pack. an example video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVEBOmQNCDs

i dont think its the creator of glue libary i first heard about this in trevor henderson oc pack but they fixed it then my friend tolled me about this hacker and one of the addon victoms are glue libary so i dont think its the creator of that mod i think its the hacker, for headcrabdestroyer.

thanks for the update
cant wait to try it out

now its officially near perfect

the only renditions on par with this one
are the ones for the dark interval and coterminous mods
but they function slightly different and have an arcing energy blast
fired from the launcher in the back instead of using the front two prongs

but of all the versions that do use them
this is easily the best one yet

I tried downloading the github version of half life resurgence, but it tells me that the archive is corrupt and therefore i can't do anything to get that version instead of the workshop version

still, rewriting a combine gunship entirely from scratch looks a bit of tedious work. what about commanding helicopters in a map to make them move around? there's an example for that as well, in https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2140385821 . when you create a combine squad with this, you get a helicopter and a gunship that patrols around freely regardless of pathing present in map.

Will you make a combine gunship snpc that moves around and doesn't need a specific map to work or something like that? i was thinking it could turn into a ragdoll upon death instead of always exploding as well.

we remember we already did. you have to increase sk_mortarsynth_far_dist.

if you want a unique mortarsynth with an extended range, regardless of what that cvar is, it will be but you won't be able to spawn it through the spawn menu. i don't like occupying the spawn list with variations of the same thing. it will be spawned through console, like "ent_create npc_mortarsynth_2 spawnflags 256"

implemented your request. the set-up you need for a non-grenade throwing mortarsynth is:

sk_mortarsynth_grenade_enabled 0
sk_mortarsynth_always_energy 1

to disable only the smg grenades:

sk_mortarsynth_smg_grenade_enabled 0

in fact may just want to remove the smg grenade all together
as its pretty much always a guaranteed hit
and even just an insta-kill in most cases

otherwise this is definitely the best rendition of this synth available
just needs a small balancing tweak

can you make a version the only shoots the energy blast
and perhaps also one the doesnt shoot the smg grenades

or at the very least have console commands to enable and disable certain firing types and change the damage values

if so then that would be grate
but if not then thats fine

updated the gibbing effects. i can't do these spikes in front because i feel like i either must turn each spike, the crab inside the shell and all other alive parts into seperate gibs, which is a long procedure, or must make it a interactable physics object like ragdolls, something that i can't.

the gibs are already interactable, though. you can gravgun punt them but they will not collide with anything.

A small suggestion when they gib:

- There should be more of a explosion sound when they die. If they already have one, maybe it should be a bit louder.

- I know you made gib parts for them and I may not want to sound nit picky but it would be a good idea for them to have the front gib part seen in their corpse animation

I was going to also say for it to be a fun detail for being able to interact with their gib parts like picking them up but idk if they'll be necessary. It's your choice if you want to.

Besides that, the MortarSynth is the best one ever yet and is enjoyable to fight!

@𝕃𝟛𝔾𝟙𝟘ℕ Maybe you can use it at the HL2 Overwatch Nexus Strider battle or the White Forest Strider battle. Worked out good for me so far.
