With 3.8 and finally being able to set your own sector layout, this mod is likely no longer needed. That said, THANK YOU for this being a wonderfully useful option for all this time!

Thanks for the sussy mod.

Thanks for letting me know!
Reyzel  [author] 14 May, 2022 @ 10:33am
I have not tested it yet however I don't see why it shouldn't.
It's a very simple mod and technically it should work.
I will eventually update the version number and work on another vassal related mod I have in mind.
thewanderingshaman 14 May, 2022 @ 9:42am
Does this mod work with 3.4?
Reyzel  [author] 9 Mar, 2022 @ 3:21am
Once again, this mod works for 3.3 without needing to be updated

Reyzel  [author] 30 Nov, 2021 @ 5:20pm
@Keukotis lol I have no actual idea why I haven't done that, thanks xd
Keukotis 30 Nov, 2021 @ 5:16pm
Well yeah, it's essentially instant and swapping ownership that quickly (where no day could even pass) won't cause the game to reevaluate anything at all. So effectively this is doing what you say. I'm just letting people know the method in case they don't also make mods and can't figure it out. Knowing the method might reassure people that, yes, this really should be patch-proof.

As a note, I've set most of my mods to be for game version 3.* so I don't have to keep updating them. I recommend you do the same just to save yourself the questions.
Reyzel  [author] 30 Nov, 2021 @ 3:22pm
@Keukotis yes that's true thank you, honestly it's the only way I thought of doing it and that does mean it's very unlikely to be incompatible with any update or mod.
I guess saying it only releases the capital is a false statement lol since it does release the whole sector but then just gives it back but the player is not going to notice that.
Keukotis 29 Nov, 2021 @ 11:18am
Oh, and for those who've kept asking, I'll reinforce what Reyzel is saying: the way this is built, there's little reason any patch could possibly break it. Immediately after you release the vassal, all systems other than the capital are given back to you. It's a smart method that should always work.
Keukotis 28 Nov, 2021 @ 10:56pm
Oh my god why isn't this just how it works in the base game? Thank you for this. This is so frustrating. If I want to give my new vassals more systems, I can do so through trade after releasing them. There's no need to force it. Thank you!
Reyzel  [author] 22 Nov, 2021 @ 11:31am
this mod should work for 3.2 (and probably many versions after unless they change sectors or vassals lol).
I'll update the version number when I can be asked. :Diplomat:

Reyzel  [author] 14 Sep, 2021 @ 3:08am

if you go to walmart at 3 AM naked, and scream "AMONG US SUS" 69 times, these mysterious figures known as "The Police" will knock you out, and you'll end up in a cell with a man nicknamed "BIG JOHN".
mattandsam 10 Aug, 2021 @ 12:05pm
YES THIS IS THE KIND OF MOD I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS! Now, with that said and done, thank you again! But, yeah, seriously paradox needs to sort of their sector system, it drives me mad. Have a great day, thanks again
Stotin 9 Aug, 2021 @ 9:16am
@Livnthedream, the game is already easy enough to win already so to you game balance shouldnt really matter, as by mid game the AI are stupid enough to where even at max difficulty they topple at the slightest push. Also a lot of players play stellaris to roleplay because its what we think of as fun. If I wanted to be op in vanilla ill go topple a fallen empire before mid game using maximum cheese strategies and abusing the AI's stupidity.

Also serious question, why are you spending so long just downtalking a mod?
eNoble-US 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:53pm
@Livnthedream It's a mod. If you want it, download it. If you don't, fuck off. Stop gatekeeping shit, especially because there is 282 subscribers who like the idea of this mod and 55 favorites. This isn't a cheat mod. It isn't a trainer. It isn't an infinite booster research for the player only. Stop being a pussy, you're going to be okay and you'll live. Move on.
Reyzel  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 2:27pm
@Livnthedream "uuuugh uga buga xenophobe mean hate alien want hurt alien so xenophobe no vassal alien only kill uuuuuughhhhh"

I see you are a status quo guy, you want nothing but the boring current stuff and anything too fun you wanna stay away from.
I get it, not all of us can be adventurous and adaptable.
Everything is very 'by the books' with you it seems.

Now that you have gotten your free psycho-analysis please go play your vanilla stellaris (probably with no dlc too lol).

Livnthedream 8 Aug, 2021 @ 1:38pm
@Reyzel Go check what Xenophobe *means* in Stellaris. No, they wouldn't give them enough autonomy to be a vassal state. Especially with what vassal means.

I never claimed the sector system was *good*, I claimed its the best iteration of it we have ever had. What you have implemented is too easy to exploit. Which is part of the reason why it was changed how it was. That people were both making too big, and too small of sectors means just defining them out the gate is the better solution, and doing that via jumps is the simplest way.

And no, Espionage is pretty bad. As I predicted it would be, and argued against the people wanting it. Though I'm guessing you want op shenanigans like killing leaders and causing rebellions, seemingly without thinking of what those sorts of very powerful tools would look like when turned against you. Especially when outnumbered.
Reyzel  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 5:07am
@Livnthedream I'm sorry bro but a xenophobe can do whatever in the damned tiyanki it wants.
smh you tryna tell me xenophobes shouldn't want to vassalise xeno empires?
mechanics do matter yes and from a mechanics standpoint the sector system is still bad.
just cause you like the system does not mean others aren't allowed to complain about it.
I bet you think the espionage system is good too lol.
Livnthedream 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:29am
@Reyzel A Xenophobe shouldn't *want* to do that under the ethics spectrum they have implemented. That is why they can easily expel them. And yeah, mechanics trump RP. All the RP in the world won't save a game that doesn't have *game* to hang it on. As the devs themselves have stated. Would you like a link to the interview?
Reyzel  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:24am
@Livnthedream
stellaris for me is first and foremost a roleplaying story making game and the current sector system is in strong opposition to that

you are in the minority who actually like this new sector system, nothing would be lost if they just allowed us to add or remove systems to sectors (just have empire sprawl penalty if sectors are too big)
Reyzel  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:23am
@Livnthedream
-you want to release a newly conquered xeno world as a vassal because you are playing xenophobe and you don't want xenos in your main empire
-if you release the xeno sector capital as a vassal one of your own species' planets will be release alongside it because it is within 4 jumps

this is the kind of thing that this mod is trying to prevent

literally the only upside to the current system is that you don't have to worry about making the sectors yourself and that players can't make huge sectors

the player should have control of their sectors for practical and rp reasons, I liked being able to section off my empire in differently named sectors and giving them all cool names but now with the new system all of that goes out the window.

Bait 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:18am
What are you even on about?
First you say it doesn't have to exist because the sector system is fine in it's current iteration (considering it's next to non-existant that says a lot). Then you say cheating because you can boost your cap. Now you're going on about there being 'no merit' outside of aesthetics.
?????????
Are you randomly generating what you're gonna say next?
Livnthedream 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:06am
@Reyzel Sounds about right. Like I am all on board with making smaller sectors, or really whatever you want as a mod. I just despise people justifying it with stupid reasons. There are numerous upsides, and only a "border gore" downside to how sectors are currently implemented. I am sorry that you refuse to accept the merits because "my game ugly"
Reyzel  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:05am
@Absolutely heretical B-Bait?!
s-sussy baka???
b-bussy saka?!?!?!?!?!?!
And so I am sus after all..... :(

Livnthedream 7 Aug, 2021 @ 5:35pm
@Reyzel So you just forgot about releasing 1 system vassals for fleet cap? Or for just winning via score? Your "woe is me" misattribution to Paradox isn't accurate.
Bait 7 Aug, 2021 @ 2:51pm
SUS using the amogus in the thumbnail gonna be real with ya.
Reyzel  [author] 7 Aug, 2021 @ 7:27am
@Livnthedream well that's your own personal opinion, if you enjoy having absolutely zero control of what systems your vassals own then the vanilla system is perfect for you!
The current sector system is the best if you also enjoy not being able to have a cool sector map and instead prefer 20 sectors each with only one planet in them. (unfortunately I don't have the modding expertise to bring back custom sectors and the only mod that does that is out of date right now).
Reyzel  [author] 7 Aug, 2021 @ 7:23am
@Vuxlort it's not though, this specific image was not even made by StoneToss but someone else as an amogus meme.
The amogus memes use StoneToss comics ironically without any inclusion of their original political views.
I officially declare your comment as very sus, now repent you impostor.
Vuxlort 7 Aug, 2021 @ 3:28am
Bad taste using StoneToss in the thumbnail gonna be real with ya.
Livnthedream 6 Aug, 2021 @ 11:39am
@MayhemX8 Not even shilling, mechanically it's true. Unless you really think abusing 1 planet sectors should be the new meta? Especially at essentially no cost.
Rubicon 6 Aug, 2021 @ 9:45am
@Livnthedream Looks like we have an imposter among us
Rastek 6 Aug, 2021 @ 7:04am
You do know paradox won't fix it right? They themselves removed the perfect sector creator, where you could freely modify it and add any star system in close proximity, to add this garbage one where you can only add planets no more than 4 jumps away
Xherdos 6 Aug, 2021 @ 4:26am
i liked the old Sector version more i could have picked which sectors to give to the Ai and wasn't forced to include the 4 Jumps thingy.
Journeyman Prime 6 Aug, 2021 @ 4:16am
@Livnthedream Shill, and an obvious one too. PDX isn't sending their best.
Livnthedream 6 Aug, 2021 @ 4:01am
It doesn't "have to exist" though. It only exists because you are being silly and wanting the option to nerf your vassal more than they need to be. The current sector system is literally the best version of sectors Stellaris has ever had.
Scrumptious! 6 Aug, 2021 @ 12:48am
legit great
