So it looks like the only cars that get hoods of their predecessor railroads are the CSX, is that correct?
I'll admit I didn't pay full heed to the hood liveries of the description, but I was expecting hoods of the NYC and Pennsylvania on the Penn Centrals and some extras on the Norfolk Southerns.
With that out of the way, I agree with Evil.Iguana that cars of this type were desperately needed based on the appearance of other freight cars handling steel specifically!
