Indeed! What I meant by "instead of overwriting," though, was the cheese making process itself. You can add unlimited processes to any VFE Processor, so the thing o do would be to add a new process, inputting milk and outputting Cheese, that only has one option (producing "normal" Cheese at all times with no differences due to stacking).

People have the option not to use this mod if they like quality differences for cheese, I guess? Unless I misunderstand what you meant with the first message. Cheese varieties would've made more sense to me as well.

My main issue with quality-based food products is the amount of clutter it causes. Personally I'm just not that indepth into that part of the game to care for quality - even for wine I would much rather just have one item without quality. If that were an option in the original mod, that'd be great!

Another issue I had was the size of the presses and time needed to make cheese. Thankfully we have the freedom with easy modding that allows us to do whatever we want with our game!
I usually run a custom mod where I throw in all kinds of small personal changes - a few of them I released as full mods for others to use

Adding quality to Wine made sense to me, but not to cheese. For cheese, you'd think it would be varieties that would give different benefit.

Instead of overwriting the original one, why not add this as an alternate one in order to give people the option?

I see. Its literally like Soy-soice that has Cheese system in RW.
Yes quality but only for market value (trade stuff) It comes from Vanilla Cooking Sushi Expanded.
GL with your RW life ! Hope you come back some day later.

I haven't played RimWorld in like 2-3 years. When I pick it up again, I will surely make mods for things that annoy me. Currently, though, while I keep my existing mods up to date as best as possible, there won't be any new mods from me.

Of course, you can try and make a mod for it yourself. I haven't looked into anything soy sauce related, not even sure which mod adds that, so I can't tell how difficult it is to implement, but it would likely require similar changes as this Cheese mod applies

HOW ABOUT SOY-SAUCE version of this mod
You have to try some sushi. Great food. I Like it and it like me
Syrus  [author] 20 Jan @ 9:59am
Nah, not adding settings to this mod, it'd be a lot of work for something this small.
Feel free to look through the files though and use them to make your own version to your liking!

Hi. Do you mind making a config for
Cheese maker size to be kept to original one by checking in mod setting?
and also, making basic date for cheese to be completed would be nice.
Maybe referring to original version's quality-cheese making dates?

Nice mod. do you ever consider making Soy sauce version of it?
PLEASE!

He's turned it all into processed cheese, the horror. :steammocking:

Does this cause issues when adding to an existing save?

Cheese having quality like wine but only as a trade good and only for those traders that bought food was kind of awful, this mod corrects one of the biggest intentional issues with cheese production in Vanilla Expanded. Now we can turn milk into long term food easily and still trade it for a fair price.

Have you considered also making cheese work as a condiment for VFE, even as a sidemod to this? I'd imagine that they didn't do this originally because they wanted the "cheese aging" mechanic to be included, and realized that would bloat inventories and menus _really badly_ if every condiment list had different entries for each cheese quality. But with the cheese simplified down to a single quality level, this seems like a natural conclusion—especially since otherwise pawns are just eating whole wheels of cheese as meals, which is weird

I still like because honestly didn't like the cheese aging mechanic, just was annoying tbh. Would be nice to kinda have one for wine too because all the other alcohols from vanilla expanded dont have aged qualities except for ambrandy but that is a weird beast in itself
Syrus  [author] 18 Sep, 2021 @ 4:30pm
I really couldn't expect anyone to keep an eye on compatibility for such a small mod, so, thanks!
If issues occur, I will look into them when I can get around to it.

---

I don't intend on expanding this mod. It does what I want it to do.
Though its usefulness has diminished a bit, now that cheese has mood modifiers depending on quality.
Kayedon 17 Sep, 2021 @ 3:55pm
As one of the authors of Simple Tofu, I'll let you know if you need to change anything on your side!
Syrus  [author] 17 Sep, 2021 @ 1:56pm
Vanilla Cooking Expanded had a mood buff depending on cheese quality added to it.
I updated the mod to fix an error in regards to that and added a low mood buff (+2) for eating cheese to make up for the loss of the original buff.

@Lark
Sorry that it took a bit, but I finally got around to looking into the Tofu mod. From what I can tell Simple Cheese should already modify Tofu cheese correctly.
Maybe I'm missing something though, what still requires patching?

If you tell me which mod that cheese comes from, I'll look into it
Lark 13 Sep, 2021 @ 2:35pm
Any chance you could patch this to work with the tofu cheese? I love this mod, makes cheese worth it!
Syrus  [author] 15 Aug, 2021 @ 2:35am
I never really used the factory buildings from VFE Mechanoids, but yes, the Industrial Cheese Press has the changes applied as well and should work.
Wolski 14 Aug, 2021 @ 10:57pm
Does it work with the automatic cheese press added by VE mechanoids?
Frying_Dutchman 13 Aug, 2021 @ 4:18pm
wow this is actually pretty cool. i feel the same as you, making cheese is so tedious and needs way too much space! thanks!
Frydendahl 12 Aug, 2021 @ 12:46pm
This seems really good. At least the cheese in Rimcuisine gave a special moodlet, but the whole cheese quality system in VCE seems stupidly overcomplicated for just wanting to preserve some milk as cheese in a tribal game.
