...1.4?
Autismus Maximus 3 Jun, 2022 @ 4:55pm
i would have downloaded it but i am not going to depart with medicine cabinet and pallet, i like them for aesthetic reasons, truly a shame, since i really wanted the new 1 tile food basket

going to post this in that mods comments too.

I believe that if you have Replace Stuff Mod Compatibility installed alongside this one, you will get a red error stating that the deep storage pallet and covered pallet were not found. Its probably benign but just fyi.

Update: made a number of modifications courtesy of Anon
- fixed some overly long storage descriptions
- removed pointless quality comps and beauty stats from storage
- changed skip mass from 5 to 50
- some other changes will be dealt with later on

I still stand by my decision not to remove the middle shelf. The reason is very simple - It allows people finer control over how many stacks they want in a specific place
Anon 18 Oct, 2021 @ 12:14pm
You can add them to your mod if you like the changes. I might make more going from what I mentioned.
Anon 18 Oct, 2021 @ 12:12pm
I don't expect everyone would agree with this but something that feels awkward to me about the whole mod is that some containers look out of scale, meanwhile some are 1x1 while others are 2x1 arbitrarily. The Weapon Cabinets and the Skip look tiny, the Hook looks like it should have been 2x1. Meanwhile the Granary and the Hamper are both 2x1 but they are visually "two Hampers" and "two Baskets". I suppose it's a rule that storage containers should be 2x1 because of the bias coming from the Core 2x1 Shelf.
Anon 18 Oct, 2021 @ 12:12pm
I'm not sure about the two weapon cabinets, I definitely think there needs to be only a single one but the question is which one's stats should be kept? It should be possible to turn the texture of the one that is removed into a Graphic_Appearances metal variant of the one that you keep, but I couldn't do it, possibly because I would have to change the texture paths so that they can be recognized? I commented out my attempt to do it in the xml.

I would ask you to make a 1x1 Tall Shelf because I couldn't be bothered with making the texture and you are probably better than me at that.

The middle size shelf sits at an awkward place, it's just some marginal stat advantages compared to the biggest one while getting just a single item more per cell compared to the Core Shelf. It barely counts as "deep" storage. Why would you build that instead of the big one, or even better, one of the other more specialised containers that can both fit more items and store and retrieve them faster? It also looks almost identical to the Tall Shelf.

There is the question whether some categories should be excluded from the Tall Shelf for realism and balance, even the original creator mentioned it in the description that items such sculptures shouldn't fit. I would extend that to also exclude Steel, Stone blocks, Chunks, Corpses and most minified items with a few exceptions such as bedrolls. It would also give you an incentive to use the specialised containers such as the Skip.

@Anon
Going to look over them. From a quick look the only one I disagree with is removing the middle-size shelf. Do you want me to add them into the patch?
Anon 17 Oct, 2021 @ 9:13am
Made some extra changes to go along with this, what do you think? https://pastebin.com/5ykGkKqw

>It's also rather nice to have a dedicated storage unit for medical items, just to add a visual means of finding something that, when you need it, you need it RIGHT NOW, BEFORE MY STAR COLONIST(S) BLEED OUT ON THE FLOOR.

You can use the Shelf for that.

I advise people learn to play the vanilla game before delving into modding.
Drayco84 9 Oct, 2021 @ 8:05pm
I actually would recommend leaving the Medicine Cabinet in there. While it doesn't make much sense for a vanilla game (Meaning you can fit the few medicine types on shelves or other storage.) it becomes vastly more useful when adding any mods that add other medicines, such as VGP Garden Medicine. (Antibiotics, Flu EZ, and Ibuprofen are surprisingly important. Antibiotics alone have saved a colonist on several occasions and are great for getting people back up much faster.)
It's also rather nice to have a dedicated storage unit for medical items, just to add a visual means of finding something that, when you need it, you need it RIGHT NOW, BEFORE MY STAR COLONIST(S) BLEED OUT ON THE FLOOR.
I mean, whenever you can get around to it. RL is a PITA.

I know that feel
CitizenKanye  [author] 14 Sep, 2021 @ 10:56pm
I thought I was perfectly clear. I want to update the mod eventually, but there's at least 20 other projects I also want to work on in my limited free time. Modding is a drag when you have to combine it with full time work
Anon 14 Sep, 2021 @ 2:42pm
Question is... can you do it?

CitizenKanye  [author] 10 Sep, 2021 @ 2:07pm
I'm gonna address what I can
double shelf or the tall shelf should be removed - disagree. As much as it would help debloating, I think that the generic shelf is the one thing that deserves to have three tiers of size
weapons cabinet and weapons locker - I agree here
The hook rack, weapons cabinets and the skip look tiny and out of scale - agree
quality modifiers where it makes no sense - agree
embarrassingly cringy item descriptions - agree
Does the safe actually work - LWM is supposed to code that. It's a work in progress as far as I know
The clothing rack - too complex to code. Not my field
The skip - decent idea. Will give it some thought

All that said I'm not going to be making changes to this mod anytime soon. If I come back to it I want to give it very close attention which right now I don't have
Anon 10 Sep, 2021 @ 1:43pm
I also recommend removing the contextual naming for some of them. For example the "clothing rack" can be made to be suitable for anything, not just clothes, and instead you can alter the stats to make it more effective at storing clothing to let pawns quickly change their clothes. This will further remove the need for some of these buildings that if not for the naming convention they would otherwise be pure clones of the shelf. Eg, the skip should be made larger and slower to access, which would incentivise to use it for its intended purpose of hoarding resources you will rarely use.
I am probably asking for too much thought to be put into this than most people that use storage mods would be able to put in though.
Anon 10 Sep, 2021 @ 1:37pm
Either one of the double shelf or the tall shelf should be removed, there is no reason for both to exist. Same with the "weapons cabinet" and "weapons locker"
The hook rack, weapons cabinets and the skip look tiny and out of scale.
Some items seem to have quality modifiers where it makes no sense, such as the (masterwork) hook rack.
Also if you could remove the embarrassingly cringy item descriptions that would be great.

Does the safe actually work according to its description at preventing items from being taken from it?
Anon 10 Sep, 2021 @ 11:44am
There's still too many containers left even with this.
腹黑の兔 12 Aug, 2021 @ 4:07pm
i think the Medicine Cabinet is needed
Arnovitz 11 Aug, 2021 @ 3:55pm
FYI in your 2.1 storage mod, you need to set the passability of added objects to PassThroughOnly. You set them to Impassable which prevents pawns from accessing items stored within them to equip clothes, etc.
Chime 11 Aug, 2021 @ 6:30am
Okay, thanks : )
CitizenKanye  [author] 10 Aug, 2021 @ 11:46pm
@Ch1me
That's a code issue caused by 1.3. I can only count on LWM to fix it.
Chime 10 Aug, 2021 @ 3:42pm
Does this also fix the problem with clothing stored on clothing racks glitching into each other instead of stacking on top of each other? The textures have been all messed up since 1.3

Thanks!

I live off single tray racks, am I not suppose to?
