@Lickwit If you know how to code, why not make a full set of weapons with adequate characteristics, but different from vanilla, or even better, REPLACING all vanilla? Probably, it would be in great demand, because there are very low on such products. Someone makes only for themselves, a certain type of weapon / systems, but many are either too cheaty or almost useless. It's a hell of a lot of work for a goofball like me, but it won't be too difficult for someone who knows what and where =)

I used the exact same guns guns guns tool to spawn them without issue. But like I said they are extremely rare.

If you can't find them in the guns guns guns tool, can you try to spawn them in with the specific turret spawner? They're called "TM Launchers" in the debug menu. Try that one instead?

I've just tested it. I teleported to 50 - 50 and could spawn the launchers both as a separate group and as a part of the natural spawn group.

From the 1588 total turrets that I spawned with the random turret spawn 36 were Tactical Missile launchers.

I tried spawn in in the 0:1 in creative. Wanted to test and look. Or they are not spawning in the creat?

Are you sure? You should start to encounter them 250 sectors away from the core. They are rather rare as well.

Hello, I know it has nothing to do with the topic but maybe someone here can help me and how do I activate a server message that is posted by the server say 5 minutes before the server restart? or do you need a mod for that? :steamsad:

Current game version is 2.3.1.
Your modinfo.lua has it set as: max = "2.2", which causes a version mismatch.

Perhaps it is time to update with something like max = "2.5.*" or "2.*" or "2.99.9" or even "*.0" ?

Thank you for letting me know, I'll try to look into it today. You're not the first one to report this bug so I'll temporarily disable the mod compatibility with the new version and see if I can resolve it and put it back up

No problem! By nuclear, I mean making a new normal turret design with the word "Nuclear" somewhere in the name, and just allow them to have the buffed stats that usually comes with a coaxial.

I think normal turrets only go up until a certain scale... But I could try to see if I can make the later game turrets a bit more extreme via other ways though... I hope the rest of the mod has been fun and functional at least :P

Either way, thanks a lot for pointing it out! getting feedback is a great source of motivation when working on mods like these.

Righto. It seems like the Coax turrets are indeed wonky at best. I'm not sure whether to remove them entirely yet but I probably will. For now you could try to shuffle them around a bit so they have a more clear space where to fire from. Because the shots seem to get blocked depending on proximity of nearby blocks. I'm sorry for being unable to give you an actual solution though.

Oh that's not supposed to happen. My turrets should function identical to any other turret on a basic level. I'll take a look myself and see if there's anything I can do. But I'm afraid my options will either be to leave them in the mod as is or to remove coax turrets altogether.

Yeah, that's more fair, considering they are easy to spot and only spawn on ships with a neutral demeanor.

From what I have been told by a fellow modder, modded weapons do not appear on pirates by default. They will however appear on xsotan ships. They are also decently easy to recognize and dodge (as long as you don't fly in a straight predictable pattern).

Uh, do these spawn on AI ships like pirates? I feel like that would be absolutely catastrophic if they did as they would nuke most players instantly, considering the missiles cannot be targeted by PDCs. though at the same time them not being targetable makes them viable in the area where AI ships do use PDCs and always shoot down torpedoes before they can do anything,\.

Hmm yeah the dropping rate is supposed to be very low since it's such a powerful turret compared to most others in both actual dps and price. So I'm trying to not make it drop too often.

Currently enjoying the turret, although I have only found one drop so far traveling through the Trin/Xan regions. Drop rate still seems pretty low, but that may also just be my own bad luck.

Can you update the version number on this so that it doesn't through an error on launch?

As far as I can tell the mod still works, but the versioning limits it to 2.0.1, anything past that throws a compatibility error. You should be able to drop the .1 from the modconfig and it will just check for Major.Minor update compatibility instead of patch updates. (2.0 instead of 2.0.1)

oh no your fine to be honest i was actually thinking this was a mod that replaces the model for torpedoes so my bad on that part.

But regardless if its not possible ether way then thats fine don't lose sleep over it mmhmm i am just happy you did this just do what you feel your comfortable with and can do and willing to do :).

I'm no modder so i have no clue to how to do things such as this let alone do a full 3D model then make it work in game tho i am looking for one if one does rise up one day it might add more detail to the larger ships but until then we can only hope :)

That said, I do believe torpedoes (not the missiles/rockets from the launcher) have an actual model, so maybe it's possible to use those as a projectile instead...

But that's also a big maybe at best

I'm fairly certain that the fired projectiles are just particles with some colours/effects mixed in. I am looking at options to change it to an actual 3d model but this seems to be rather difficult to pull off. I'm not even sure modders can get that deep into the files.

thank you for uploading yeah i was wondering if the 3D model of the missile or in this case the torpedo would be wider and longer tho from what i am seeing the glow only grew bigger.

is the model of the torpedoe size increased or did you make your own 3D model or is it just a visual effect?.

Sorry for asking this but reason behind it was i was looking for something along the lines of larger rockets you can visually see flying at you for say a larger ship for example.

And is it possible to make the 3D model of the torpedoes larger? now i think about it... there even a 3D model? i honestly never really took the time to actually physically see a model to one since i never went out of my way to look at it since it was fast and tiny.

They can not, the projectiles are essentially heavily modified missiles from the vanilla missile launcher. I haven't found a way to let them get targeted and shot down with PDCs yet. I do hope to be able to implement it some day if the game allows it.

Don't get your hopes up though
