I discovered a bug, items that are held before being thrown like bob's head or the black hole have infinite charge, can anyone solve this?

I need help, I equipped the item
black hole in isaac and my item has infinite charges, I think it's a bug, how do I fix it?

Yup, it was not enabled (D#) for some reason, thanks for the help.

5) If you see a "D#" after the #, then change it to "E#" (this will enable the mod for Tainted Keeper)... If there was nothing, then you can just type the E# out.

6) After the E#, you should see a number (probably 0). Remove the number and put 485 (this is the ID of Crooked Penny) in its place. If there was nothing, just put the 485.

7) The section related to Tainted Keeper should now look like this: ~33#E#485

Save the save1.dat file and close it. The next time you boot the game, Tainted Keeper should have the Crooked Penny, and this should be kept even after you exit the game.

PS: I had to split the reply in parts because Steam has a 1000 characters limit per comment.

1) Go to this folder: Steam\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\data\custom pocketed actives [rep]

2) Open the save1.dat file (You can use a notepad)

3) You'll probably see a bunch of really weird things involving E, D, ~, # and some numbers.

4) Use Ctrl + F to find ~33# (Tainted Keeper has the ID 33)... If you find nothing, you can safely create these characters at the end of the code line inside the save1.dat file.

@Mechanomical Weird, there is nothing on the code that specifically calls out Tainted Keeper on the code of the mod, so I don't know what could be causing it.

My guess would be that for some reason the modconfigmenu isn't properly saving the changes you made, even though it should... I dunno what causes this kind of issue, and I actually had this kind of issue before with some of my other mods, so I don't have a clue on how to fix it.

That said, I know a work around:

For some reason Tainted Keeper just removes the active item when I exit the game, I've been trying to put Crooked Penny on him and the settings are reset when I open the game every time.

@pyra not really a bug. It's intended that you can get the pocketed item within challenges. To like... Give people the option of using the mod during challenges too if they want to.

If you prefer to do the challenge "Properly", I suggest just disabling the mod for that character for that challenge~

And glad you liked the mod! ^^)/

great mod! love how you can change which characters it works for - i have been avoiding other ones like this due to the bug with judas's birthright but can just disable it here.

i did find a minor limitation with the mod though (i don't think its necessarily a bug): if you have it set so isaac gets the d6 pocketed he still gets it in challenge runs where you're not supposed to start with it. i haven't tested with other characters but it might also work with their challenges (judas in onan's streak, bethany in bloody mary)

Yup, Lazarus kept the Plan C until he died.

@Mechanomical I didn't test, but I'm pretty sure that it will give you infinite copies of the one-use active, totally breaking the game.
Mechanomical 14 Dec, 2021 @ 11:44am
How does this work with 1 use actives?
AliceShiki's Alt Acc  [author] 4 Dec, 2021 @ 3:19pm
@cadetpirx The normal Book of Belial can be a pocketed item just fine.

The birthrighted Book of Belial is probably treated as a passive item, so it's probably impossible to make it pocketed.

Book of Virtues also has a similar issue IIRC.
cadetpirx 4 Dec, 2021 @ 11:19am
There was an Repentance update that adds official birthright effects to every character, especially Judas.
For Judas:The Book of Belial becomes a passive item, and can synergize other active items, similar to Book of Virtues, but instead it's more like the offensive kind of synergies!
So,can the Book of Belial be a pocket item, while having Birthright?

@Zekava Not at principle, but I think you should be able to edit this to make it work with a modded character for as long as said character has an ID. You'd just need to add the characters to the first 7 lines of the code and I think it should work.

Can't say I ever tested it with modded characters though, so no promises there.
Zekava 12 Oct, 2021 @ 5:40pm
Does this work with modded characters?

@braska123 ah, gotcha, sorry and thanks!

@Toxicwolf1987TM I'm aware of this, and this issue is actually highlighted on the description of the mod (on the paragraph that starts with "Lastly").

I don't really know how to fix that, so I'm afraid this is something you will just have to deal with while playing with the mod... Sorry for that... >.>

On the plus side, it's not really something hard to work around. Just make sure the settings for the character you're playing with are OFF while you choose the Pocketed Item, then you can turn them ON afterwards.

Tried downloading this as it was exactly what I need, and the issue was that when changing the numbers to set whatever item you wanted as your active item, as you flip through the numbers the items would be added with every selection. Example: adding 1 to the ID number starting from 0 would give you The Sad Onion, despite not choosing it.

Furthermore, It would glitch out and give you infinite of that item (In this case, I would get hundreds upon hundreds of Sad Onions a minute), and the debug console couldn't remove them as more would continue to be added.

This has the potential to be an AMAZING mod, but as it stands is what I'd call 'close to finished'.
