Besides that, thanks for the cool mod!
2nd, the Recycled Knowledge reasons make sense when I really think about it. Although I wonder if a rare character specific unlockable Relic could be a cool replacement. One that would probably have the effect of the old recycler either once every even turn end, or once every deck shuffle. IDK Just spitballin' here. Either way I played this mod again and I like the new feel of the balance. I realize more and more that finding a balance between elements and blocking is key with this character and Recycled Knowledge when I think about also kinda cheats the system in its old form.
Allowing for more ways to stack up and then divert into a set of elements is quite good and it feels a lot different from the defect cause you can stack it in different ways.
I have however, never picked up recycled knowledge since it got changed.
Yes there have been instances where I thought about it, however when there are different casting methods in my deck that give me what I need, I.E: Block/Draw.
I haven't added it too my deck since its just casting the elements twice and I haven't needed to double cast.
Overall however, good buffs/nerfs and changes to the vast majority of cards and I do believe there will be instances where recycled knowledge will be very beneficial. I just haven't had the opportunity to use it in this iteration.
Thanks again for the feedback. Even tho I didn't agree with everything, there was some really interesting ideas in what both of you said.
I'm not sure how much more work I'll put into this mod, my vacations are coming to an end and I have another mod to which I need to do a bunch of art before releasing it. I'm making a quick smaller update today and maybe another one to change some relics, but I'm not sure about this one yet. Might do some balance changes or bug fixes (if there are some), but it's quite unlikely I make other big changes. Most of the ones from this update were due to new learnings I made while working on my second mod and wanted to improve the Librarian in that regard
Casting with the Librarian is very different that evoking your orbs on the Defect and I don't think the design from one translate very well to the other. On the Defect, it's mostly the Dark orbs (and maybe the Plasma) that truly benefits from Recursion, which comes from ~4 cards and even without evoking your other orbs, you still get their passives effect without evoking them. On the Librarian, it's ~50+ cards that makes you want to lock in Recycled Knowledge.
About Recycled Knowledge, what I disliked about the previous iteration is that it would kinda invalidate every other casting sources since casting to keep your charges is almost always better than casting to remove the element. With the new design, I tried to keep the fantasy of improving the strength of your casting by reusing the same element twice without making 5-6 other cards (one of which is in the starting deck) + 1 relic feel bad with it. Also with the new Green Storm and Doyou Spear, there's some friction since both of them *and* Recycled Knowledge what to be able to cast the same elements (assuming Wood or Earth is your main element). It's pretty much the same reason why I changed Doyou Spear -> The previous iteration made casting Earth felt really bad unless you casted it specifically with Recycled Knowledge. I'll think about it, but I'm not sure I'll revert.
First of all, thanks for the feedback. It's really appreciated to see that people are playing my mod and take time to voice their opinions.
To me, managing your cast cards vs the variety of sign cards that you add to your deck is part of the character's design/challenge. This as been made even more true by changing the starting relic to only give elements at the start of combat, so after casting these, you don't need to deal with a constant flux of unwanted elements being created every turn. This makes additional cast cards a lot less valuable unless you choose to add a big variety of elements in your deck, in which case drafting either Great Library, Daily Practice or 2-3 Voile/Bookworm is the way to go.
Had I not received the mobile library, my run would've been pitifully weak (again) since I only found 1 other card that casts.
Giving cards the ability to selectively cast 1 or 2 elements is a step in the right direction, but there's surely a more elegant solution to bricking. What I would implement is that an elemental stack casts itself if you didn't fuel it this turn.
You would need to slightly nerf sign cards and make the cast keyword double what it casts (so it has a compelling reason to exist), but adding a dash of complexity to the tactical layer is worth it; even just the decision whether or not to play a sign since there are reasons for and against delaying the auto-cast.
If you find this suggestion appealing, remember to mark elements that are about to auto-cast. It's your mod of course, so you do what you feel is right.
这角色玩骚的太厉害了
正常玩确实难
I've been enjoying this mod for awhile now but still working on just unlocking the last few cards, but I absolutely adore the way you've managed to merge the elements directly into StS card mechanics. It always feels like fanworks either make Patche overcomplicated or too simplified, but not here. Can feel an extra layer to deck construction now that element building lets you store for future turns, not to mention needing a secondary engine to consume them at just the right pace.
Overall super enjoying this mod and impressed at how well it feels like playing StS again, compared to other mod characters...
I am Japanese. but also, I am not a translator.
but I translated it into Japanese to maximize the enjoyment of this mod, not only for me, but for other Japanese people as well.
If you would like, I can give you the translated file so you can implement it.
Please consider.
Last but not least, I apologize for my poor English through the translation software.
