Because most of my weapons and armor workshops are inside, if I cannot enter, I will almost collapse. Thank you, sir!!!!
The other Bughouse Fix didn't work. In fact, it wound up preventing me from entering bughouses entirely.
thank you :)
Sorry for late response. You aren't the only one who has asked about the bughouse. Apparently there is a hole in the floor collider for that building. Sometimes the navmesh generates over it and sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully IRL can give me a break so I can can look into the requests I've received. Thanks for leaving a good review a whole year after the fact. Happy it works :3
I know you said a while back that doing more buildings was a low priority, but I hope you come back to it. You may be the person who can finally, definitively, fix the Y-house in Black Scratch.
I hope real-life stuff is going well too, since you did say that was one reason for the hiatus. Take care and thank you again for your work.
That's mostly just vanilla bug. When a character leaves a bed and isn't attached to a navigation mesh it seems Kenshi "searches" for a place they can stand and for whatever reason that is often the roof or upper floor of where they are. I found it happens most frequently for the Stormhouse.
It's not very high on the list though. I have 3 extensive mods partially compete 2 are entire rebuilds of the rendering engine, one to make the game render faster and the other adds more rendering features for modders. The 3rd is a race mod that is pretty extensive to say the least. Aside from mods I still have to finish the tool I used to make this mod and a related tool to build custom ragdolls.
I'm on a bit of a modding hiatus right now while I get through some life stuff as well.
Between the other mods and life stuff it might be awhile before I return to expanding on other buildings. At the very least I was able to tackle the worst offender with this mod.
My pleasure. Honestly, I'm just happy it worked for yourself as well as others. Was kinda iffy as I made a trip just to do this properly.
I'll report back with my results once I manage to straighten out my load order and actually play again, but in the meantime I was too excited to see this to wait on sending a note of encouragement especially if it means you'll consider working on more buildings!
IIRC Kenshi will cache the navmesh. So the navmesh needs to be recreated. The new navmesh should be saved so it should only need to happen once once it's been recreated and saved.
Can't this mod fix it ?
You might have to reload navmesh with Ctrl + Shift + F11. Kenshi will save the last used navmesh.
Lol oops.
Should be gone now.
Thanks for saying something XD
Turns out I had to also replace the stairs and base colliders as well.
I learned quite a bit in the process such as when and where to properly utilize mesh colliders. The update includes new higher detail hybrid mesh and primitive colliders. Basically Mesh for most areas and primitives in the areas like the entrace that are problematic. Interior collisions should be near perfect (furniture should place against walls just fine).
What I learn should generalize to other buildings as I was able to spot faulty navmesh generation once I knew what to look for.
Thanks again for the find.
I can confirm there was a generation error for Narko's Trap.
Thanks for the catch.
Thanks I'll check it out.
I also made discussion for suggesting other buildings that might have issues. If the mod goes over well enough I'll start looking at creating another mod that intends to fix many buildings.
Yeah I didn't fix the "base" only the upper half. If the bottom is also causing issues I can update that as well. I don't actually build much, I just get annoyed when using the bughouse in NPC towns.
I guess if the mod goes over well enough it might warrant a Kenshi Collider Overhaul mod. Something where I can go through and attempt to fix common problems with navmesh generation and buildings. I noticed the gates in The Hub can let people walk through the bottom sometimes. I've heard about the walls having people phase through them. I haven't had many problems myself with that but I could potentially investigate those as well.
Similarly most of the furniture items are rough approximations using simple boxes as physical representations. I assume that a more accurate collider might let the players say place stools partially under a table.
