@zyx I think that is a good solution. Thank you!
Zyx Abacab  [author] 16 Feb @ 12:56pm
@ Kai I have (more-or-less) copied the values from @ robs074 's monuments mod. The posters now cost more, and give the same bonus values as the closest comparable monuments from this other mod.
Kai 15 Feb @ 5:36pm
The lack of consistency among vanilla buildings (or a lack of clear reasoning) is a major source of frustration. I hope the devs eventually address this.
Kai 15 Feb @ 5:34pm
@zyx I agree with your assessment that the actual values are a difficult question. Perhaps a better suggestion would be to find a niche for the posters, since right now they are strictly better than the "small" vanilla alternatives.
Zyx Abacab  [author] 15 Feb @ 12:03pm
@ Kai To be honest: when I created this mod, I had no idea what the reasonable values were, so I merely toned down the values set by BORO in his original mod. (Modding documentation for WR:SR being famously useless.)

But what the values ought to be is a difficult question. The vanilla monuments appear to have arbitrary and kinda nonsensical values, as shown in the below table.

@ Kai There appears to be no consistent measure for either a bonus-to-range proportion or a bonus-to-building-volume proportion. Some buildings are consistent, like the Large Soviet Emblem and Hammer and Sickle Monument. Maybe I'm bad at numerical analysis, but I can't see a pattern that includes all buildings. (The Red Star monument is particularly egregious, having both a range and bonus over twice that of the Hammer and Sickle Monument, but being less volumous and only slightly taller.)

In @ robs074 's Small Monuments (Workshop Item 2723573163) mod, we find monuments that have values which are at least internally consistent, but said values are still much higher than what you propose.
Zyx Abacab  [author] 15 Feb @ 11:29am
@ Kai I am of the opinion that building cost is an unimportant factor. The cost of materials for buildings like these (including recurring reconstruction) quickly becomes unimportant, even in small economies. The bonus given is much, much more important.

The values do need to be changed, but I don't know how to proceed. I need to think about it.

Most likely, I'll do some math on @ robs074 's values and go from there.
Kai 15 Feb @ 9:50am
This is one of the best mods on the workshop. Have you considered reducing the loyalty bonus? Right now, the poster is about 1/4 the cost of the cheapest vanilla monument but provides significantly more loyalty. Something like 65m distance and a .4-.6% bonus would make a little more sense.
Zyx Abacab  [author] 29 Jan @ 11:28am
@ Rouhmann Right?

You'd think that the developers would mention that skins work for both vehicles and buildings in the tutorials. Such as it is, the tutorials don't even explain how anything works; they kinda just tell you to do stuff blindly.
Rouhmann 29 Jan @ 4:07am
I knew already that cars can be repainted (which is very obscure) i only realised by accident that this works for your mod when i randomly clicked a poster and saw the paint icon
Zyx Abacab  [author] 28 Jan @ 6:57pm
@ Rouhmann Sure, I've added that to the description.

I feel that us having to instruct people on how to change building skins within the mod description text... speaks pretty loudly about how poor the in-game tutorials are. :/
Rouhmann 28 Jan @ 1:11pm
@AUZAZURZ you click the poster and then the spray can to change its skin.
Author please add that to the description

Why do I have only three posters although I subscribed on everything?
Zyx Abacab  [author] 25 Aug, 2022 @ 10:11am
@ Adil3tr Do you mean @ BORO 's mod ? There are only a couple of propaganda posters in that mod, for sure, but it also comes with a few other neat things, like flags and street clocks.

In any case, thank you! Steam has been weird about keeping this mod under wraps, for whatever reason.
Adil3tr 24 Aug, 2022 @ 8:27pm
Can't believe I didn't know about this mod, it's a lot better than the other one.
Zyx Abacab  [author] 10 Jul, 2022 @ 4:20pm
For everyone who is making their own modifications to this mod: the "all_texture" folder has been renamed as "common", in order to better harmonize with other mods. This is a one-time change, and no other renamings should occur.

@ Doctor_Yang You're most welcome! :)
Doctor yang 18 May, 2022 @ 11:13pm
thanks bro!You are so helpful!:steamhappy:
Zyx Abacab  [author] 18 May, 2022 @ 5:12pm
@ Doctor_Yang (1/3) Oh, I see! You could overwrite the DDS files that correspond to each poster. These files are named "poster_Y_XX.dds", where "Y" refers to the size of the poster (from 1 to 3, with 1 being the largest) and "XX" refers to the poster number (from 02 to 32). Therefore, if you replace one of the existing DDS files with a new file, you'll replace one of the existing posters with a new poster.

You can find a list of all the Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic mods you've subscribed to within your Steam installation directory (by default, "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\784150"). The poster building's mod ID is 2630876199, and the mod IDs for the posters themselves are as follows:

2631778872: Set A, Large Posters 1
2631804793: Set B, Large Posters 2
2631805712: Set C, Medium Posters 1
2631807199: Set D, Medium Posters 2
2631807333: Set E, Small Posters 1
2632882671: Set F, Small Posters 2
Zyx Abacab  [author] 18 May, 2022 @ 5:11pm
@ Doctor_Yang (2/3) However, simply overwriting the DDS files means that Steam could undo your changes at any time, since those files are inside the Steam installation directory. The simplest workaround is to store your posters in a separate place, and re-copy them into the mod folder whenever Steam undoes your changes.

I recommend creating your poster in an image editor like Photoshop, and keeping a copy of the poster in the editor's native format (such as PSD for Photoshop). The large posters have a width to height ratio of 2:3, the medium posters have a ratio of 3:2, and the small posters have a ratio of 13:10.

When you're ready, export the image as a DDS file with DXT1 compression, and including mipmaps; then copy the exported file to one of the poster set directories, overwriting the existing poster.
Zyx Abacab  [author] 18 May, 2022 @ 5:11pm
@ Doctor_Yang (3/3) If you use Photoshop, you can find a plug-in for working with DDS files on NVIDIA's website here [developer.download.nvidia.com] (32-bit) and here [developer.download.nvidia.com] (64-bit). There are also mirrors for these files on Archive.org , if NVIDIA's links ever go bad. It's important to use version 8.55, since newer versions do not include support for DXT1 compression.

If you don't use Photoshop, the GIMP is a free program that has native support for DDS files.

I hope that helps! It's not a simple process, exactly; feel free to ask further questions, if necessary.
Doctor yang 17 May, 2022 @ 2:56am
How can I change into my own poster? And thank you for your reply:steamthumbsup:
Zyx Abacab  [author] 16 May, 2022 @ 4:51pm
@ Doctor_Yang I'm not sure what you mean to ask. If you want to switch to a new poster, click on the billboard building; then click on the "spraypaint" button. This cycles through the available posters.

Make sure that you are subscribed to all poster sets. Due to limitations of Steam, the billboard building is in one mod (listed on this page), and the posters themselves are in separate mods.

My apologies for not responding sooner. I've been away.
Doctor yang 17 Apr, 2022 @ 8:33pm
Excuse me, what software can I use to replace the above picture:FallFlat:
Zyx Abacab  [author] 26 Nov, 2021 @ 8:28pm
@ oleggert2017 Sorry, my Russian is rather basic, so I have to respond in English.

The billboard structure is found in the "2630876199" folder, and the poster images are in the other folders. Have you tried to unsubscribe from item "2630876199", restarting Steam, and then subscribe again? Sometimes Steam fails to download all mods.

My apologies for not responding sooner; Steam did not show the notification for your message.
oleggert2017 9 Nov, 2021 @ 12:28pm
Не пойму. как работает мод... Подписался, но в игре он не отображается. Посмотрел в скачанные папки - там только картинки .dds и файлы .mtl, то есть он и не может отображаться в игре...Или я чего-то не догоняю? )
TenPennyBenny 6 Nov, 2021 @ 9:18am
the mod is awesome! it`s just three buildings with a lot of skins. nice and clean, i love it! thank u very much.
Zyx Abacab  [author] 4 Nov, 2021 @ 12:14pm
@Akturis Yes, loyalty is now in the "stable" branch, as of version 0.8.5.2. Check out Report for the Community #36 [www.sovietrepublic.net] for more info.
Akturis 3 Nov, 2021 @ 6:37pm
The update has become official where is the loyalty in the posters?
Zyx Abacab  [author] 26 Oct, 2021 @ 5:14pm
@Comrade Joe Perhaps I took the meaning of the word a bit too literally :P
Comrade Joe 24 Oct, 2021 @ 6:24am
I don't see any propaganda. Only inspiration for Mankind's bright future :)
Zyx Abacab  [author] 21 Oct, 2021 @ 5:48pm
Loyalty modifiers will be added when more information about the required configuration (including example values) becomes available.
