Relentless. Terrific level.

It was fun.

@stormsend
Thanks!

I had very little trouble with the first chamber. I actually can do that sort of flinging now that I've seen it a couple dozen times. The next chamber had me thinking for a few minutes. I managed to move the cube forward past it to the last chamber. That's where I was bewildered by all the glass and the different compartments. I thought I'd go way out in left field and try an off the wall move. Painting the walls in the end chamber and using that to climb. I was then able to make the jump and shoot move to get to the exit. Nice work and not too hard. Don't pay attention to folks who criticize because they think it's too hard. This is a great map and a fav. Thanks.

@Ganymede
The last jump top exit it's suposed to use momentum from both walls (gelified and then fire the forpal twice (to to do the pit and then to exit)
Ganymede 27 Sep, 2014 @ 11:27pm
Well, I played through the rest of it. You're right, the cube fling was the toughest part. The rest of it was actually pretty easy (in comparison, at least).

I must say, the physics of blue gel on glass is WEIRD. Like, you can't just stand on it and jump like you can on a normal floor. You actually have to fall from a height before it will activate. I'm guessing this is a fluke in the game physics.

I'm a bit confused on the last jump to the exit. Yes, I did it, but did you really mean for the player to literally "stand" on the angle panel and jump over the railing?
Ganymede 27 Sep, 2014 @ 11:02pm
I'll attribute it more to trial and error. I tried it again and managed to get the cube on the button in just 2 tries (and did everything else in only one try). The reason it took 40+ times the first time was because I just didn't know exactly when I needed to release the cube. Now that I know the exact timing, I can do it really easily.
dire.fcs  [author] 27 Sep, 2014 @ 4:10pm
@Ganymede
Thanks for playing, but I think that may be bit P2 inexperience, that is not hard to do; but ok; that is the most difficult move in the map. When you got a bit more reflexes this one will be a peace of cake.
Ganymede 27 Sep, 2014 @ 3:54pm
I'll admit, I didn't finish this one.

It wasn't because I couldn't figure it out. I knew what I needed to do. It was after spending an hour getting halfway through the map because I couldn't get that stupid cube on that stupid button (the one surrounded by the blue gel), I finally got past that part and was so tired that I just gave up.

ugh...

This is an execution map, through and through. It exercises your reflexes and not your mind. I don't consider myself a half-bad flinger (many of my own maps are fling-based) but when you get into what is essentially "cube tossing" with accuracy, I start getting frustrated. Yes, I suck at cube-tossing. I don't practice it because I don't consider it a real "puzzle move".

And so, I am ending this by saying that, good map or bad map, it just wasn't for me.
dire.fcs  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 2:20am
@Myr
what to say to that video?
dire.fcs  [author] 3 Sep, 2014 @ 12:38pm
@jgaultney
thanks again, and yes the hardes task is getting the cubeion the air; all tssks are independent thought you can make them straight ahead (initial ones).
jgaultney 3 Sep, 2014 @ 9:41am
I remember trying this map just after it was published but gave up after getting stuck in
the middle section (blue gel). This time around, the only difficult part was in the start area.
You said in an earlier comment that press the button/catch the cube/deliver the cube were
seperate tasks but I saw no way to do the last two separately. The hard part was timing
my fling to catch the cube, requiring repeated use of F6/F7 :) Which is strange because I
don't remember having this trouble the first time around.
In any case, an entertaining, satisfying puzzle to solve. Now I'm off to check out the
Hammer version you've just published :)
TheAireaidLord 2 Sep, 2014 @ 8:11pm
um.... no. lol sorry dude. Guranteed I will beat the harder areas first try.
dire.fcs  [author] 2 Sep, 2014 @ 5:16pm
@TheAireaidLord
Well it's not that way! It's very easy! Can't you see where you gonnan get the extra impulse to momentum?
TheAireaidLord 2 Sep, 2014 @ 4:58pm
so.... are you saying to use extra falling momentum after you go through the portal up top by going on the bottom one instead??? My guy always locks to the other portal though. It's hard to get it like that. I did actually try that strategy the first time but it never worked. I just gave up. I kinda understand I suppose. idk
TheAireaidLord 2 Sep, 2014 @ 8:30am
alright well dude I understand you think it's simple, but I'm just overlooking it for some odd reason. Your friends below, I have done their chambers before and beaten many of them. That's how I found you actually. I liked your elevator chamber a lot but this one has me confused. I understand the concept, but please explain what I'm missing? Thanks.
dire.fcs  [author] 1 Sep, 2014 @ 9:00pm
@TheAireaidLord
You can reach the pedestal button and press it and even touch the ceiling! This is from portal 1 man! And about 'you don't know the game yet comments', well I'm not from an english spoken citizen country, so sometimes my words could be misunderstood, but where I live and in my language that what we say to others in this situation. Sorry no videos (it had been crashing my P2); this map is for any average P2 player with some basic skills, (and I think it's easy for those players). This map works fine (the most difficult task is getting the cube in flinging). By the way some of the players' comments in here are very good mappers indeed.
I really don't understand what is the difficulty of pressing the cube dropper button!
TheAireaidLord 1 Sep, 2014 @ 7:59pm
I can PRESS it I just can't REACH it. I'm only a few inches away from it by using momentum but I'm a tad off and I see no way around it. What's the answer? Maybe have a video for people? screenshots? And yeah didn't you hear me say I PLAYED community maps before, You know, the ones that work and aren't overly annoying? Yeah those chambers.
dire.fcs  [author] 1 Sep, 2014 @ 6:04pm
@TheAireaidLord
If you can't press the pedestal button to get the cube than you don't know ho to play portal. By the way, the campagne maps of portal 1 and portal 2 are PEACE OF CAKE compared to some mappers stuff in the community.
TheAireaidLord 1 Sep, 2014 @ 5:45pm
dude screw off with the "you don't know the game yet" comments. I beat portal 1 and 2 and have made my own maps before and have played other custom maps made by other people. I have a huge collection of them and know some very creative people who make them. Tell me how you think I should reach that button and the rest of the chamber shouldn't be a problem for me. There is no momentum in this chamber that can reach you to that button. Period. There's a curved panel and a slightly raised area just below the button that can give you momentum. Every other area is sealed off. I'm stuck doing the same thing over and over and eventually most people move on. This is the problem with these kind of content creators. People make either impossible or near impossible chambers and think they're fun and puzzling. The best chambers have new creative twists to them and don't make you grind in one area for hours trying to understand an ounce of logic in the design.
dire.fcs  [author] 1 Sep, 2014 @ 2:12pm
@TheAiraidLord
Well, I know where are you failing. Yes the white panels and geometry that are there are enough to get height to press the button; each task is independent front the other( press button, catch button, deliver button). You obviously don't know the game yet! The techniwue to get height 8the momentum) is from Portal 1. Some of your perdecessors comments are among the best P2 players available (though I'm not), everything is there to finish it. (A very elegant map indeed, one of my best). Thanks for playing!
TheAireaidLord 1 Sep, 2014 @ 9:35am
what you're failing to understand is that there is no way to fling yourself toward the cube button on the ceiling to activate it, catch it, and place it near in the button next to the blue gel spots. I understand the concept of doing it all at once, but if I can't do step one (activating the button) the whole thing is worthless. Put some extra portable surfaces in the first area and it should be good. Not hard dude.
TheAireaidLord 1 Sep, 2014 @ 9:18am
no I know where the cube is dude. What I'm saying is how do you access the button to get it? There's no way to get enough momentum to get to it. That's my point.
dire.fcs  [author] 31 Aug, 2014 @ 11:22pm
@TheAireaidLord
In the initial entry area to press the pedestal to get the cube? You must be new in this game. If you don't know how to make it than I can't think on anything to help you.
TheAireaidLord 31 Aug, 2014 @ 10:35pm
cube? what cube?
dire.fcs  [author] 31 Aug, 2014 @ 1:10pm
@TheAireaidLord
Well you can throw the cube! It's the intention!
TheAireaidLord 31 Aug, 2014 @ 7:15am
first area there aren't enough places for momentum. You jump off the area near the cleaning gel and thats about as much momentum as you can get. Not really much else to do
dire.fcs  [author] 29 Aug, 2014 @ 1:36pm
@TheAireaidLord
Thanks for give it a try! Well I think you have to review your definition of momentum! It really has enough areas to finish! In what particular area are you refer to? (And have you seen the previews comments?)
TheAireaidLord 29 Aug, 2014 @ 11:30am
first [art isn't beatable. Not enough momentum areas to get it to work. Might wanna fix. Thanks.
dire.fcs  [author] 14 Jun, 2014 @ 12:18pm
Ok! Thanks!
Stuntmanmyke 14 Jun, 2014 @ 12:16pm
Very sympathic test which gave me inspiration, thank's for your work !
dire.fcs  [author] 10 Jun, 2014 @ 10:28am
Thanks again Andi!
Andi 10 Jun, 2014 @ 10:27am
Another great chamber, and one of my favorites. Thumbs up.
dire.fcs  [author] 8 Jun, 2014 @ 8:27am
Thanks for playing and testing Requiemsoul, and for the compliments as well!
Requiemsoul 8 Jun, 2014 @ 8:03am
One of your best chambers, in my opinion. And It is not your usually style. A lot of fun and varied challenges. Very well done!
dire.fcs  [author] 7 Jun, 2014 @ 1:56am
Thanks for the playing and the coments rhodenatus! That jump has an easy way to make. Your chamber was already subscribed.
commander2005 7 Jun, 2014 @ 1:55am
Just a momentum, please :) A video would be too long, not enough GB on disk :)
Here a spoiler screenshot:https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=268200570

Pretty cool and not easy jumping map, particulary I liked the high speed moment:
If you jump at the wrong moment, you have not enough speed (first angeled panel, jump to the
fizzler-button)

Have a look at mine "On the grid"
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=266586638

There you have a vent, conversion gel, cubes, beamer, a lightbridge,...glad about your
comment.
