@Skribble I don't know why but your suggestion doesn't work for me. Otherwise, the new SE update brings us the possibility to use landing gear as a brake and that is what I did to stop the rebounds.

:D

In a way yes, i created the platform on the "ceiling" of my custom asteroid to be attached to the ceiling of the elevator.
Had no room left on the lower deck due my hatred of mining =).
Thus i opted for this approach.

Checked out your new elevator. And damn you now i gotta scrap my old 1 and try to replace it with that new design of yours =)

@Skribble Thanks! I will look into it tomorrow, i was working on my new creation

by the way, your screenshot is upside down, isn't it?
Skribble 16 Jun, 2014 @ 5:12pm
Very nice. I do have a small suggestion tho to improve your design.
The flaw lies still in the rebound/wobble and with limits set on the 2nd hinge it will just wreck the armor the landinggear sits on.

To circumvent this problem just place a small generator on the 2nd arm on both sides, this will help the arm/lift stop alot less abruptly making it a smoother experience.
Also you can still keep the powered rotors on the 2nd arm on unlimited settings so no need to fiddle =)

I made a few qweeks to the design, had noticed a rotation force when using them all one way. Then found they didnt stay flat with just 2, it gives too much room to qwist/dip. So when I put 2 on I stuck the second at 90deg from the first, it stops the twisting and keeps the area level with floor.

The lift uses 2 rotors at 90deg so it stays stable, has small wobble, like a elevator wobble when moving.

Still having issue with landing legs breaking on my drill, but thats a game limit. Love this idea.
MrNPC 13 Jun, 2014 @ 9:46pm
This could be VERY useful if you made 2 decks of aircrafts and you wanted to move one from deck 1 to deck 2. Kind of like how an Aircraft Carrier works. You move the aircraft to a side of the hanger then a lift takes it to the airstrip. Thats cool man! Nice work... Just combine it with a dual door system! Kudos
Wibblium 13 Jun, 2014 @ 8:34pm
You should switch where the 'landing gear' are; instead of on the face plate of the arm have them attached to the main structure, and have the guide pillars extend beyond back behind the main structure when the arm is retracted, with the pillars attached to the face plate of the arm. (I took screen shots of the modification idea)
aidmo 13 Jun, 2014 @ 7:10pm
I see the formation of a new elevator design. How about a spacecraft carrier? Y'know what, I'm going to do that right now.

@I-Threnna
I think that would be a great idea! Maybe if it was slow enough it could be used as a scrapyard?
Soon-to-be-paid Democracy Intern 13 Jun, 2014 @ 11:09am
Hmm, could be a nice concept for retractable drills, maybe?
TwistedLogic 13 Jun, 2014 @ 9:39am
@jayden_shad
Do you mean where it seems to snap to air or other bits? I've had that before xD I think I reloaded and it fixed itself, or delete the attached bit and re-try.
@Pep
Nice job on the arm and door :o Keep it up!
Pep  [author] 13 Jun, 2014 @ 8:42am
As I said on the Dual Door map...
Thanks all for your feedback! I am excited to share my stuff with all of you! And if its useful to improve or inspire you in your creations... I am triple happy! We all enjoy this amazing game! Thanks!
Mikyto 13 Jun, 2014 @ 7:59am
@Pep No I don't, I will try to re-build it myself. But thanks :)
Pep  [author] 13 Jun, 2014 @ 4:18am
that bug is already solved I think
Dodgy Asian Tobacconist 13 Jun, 2014 @ 4:04am
hey, anybody else having trouble with the merge blocks literraly merging onto random parts of your ship, it seems to be a bug but its very common
Pep  [author] 13 Jun, 2014 @ 12:05am
@RedViperMartell About video tutorial explanations. If you have any questions please ask me. I'll try to answer you. You also can add tutorial min. and sec.
Pep  [author] 12 Jun, 2014 @ 3:21pm
:D ok ok, I think that if you watch the video directly on you tube you can choose a better image quality
Torroc 12 Jun, 2014 @ 2:32pm
How about the frogleg one too? i wnated ot see that one built.
Mikyto 12 Jun, 2014 @ 1:25pm
Hey Pep, I am watching your tutorial now and is it hard for you to upload it HD ? Just asking. Also if you could talk behind it to exaplin some things it would be nice.
Great build. Really useful.
GH | Fastmadcow 12 Jun, 2014 @ 11:41am
If you could make this, That means elevators are not far off...
Pep  [author] 12 Jun, 2014 @ 11:37am
@Hitori Maybe the best will be to wait until the devs do a real piston :D
Hitori 12 Jun, 2014 @ 11:17am
Good idea, but the design is slightly flawed, if you compare to a real mobile scissor lift they have only one hydralic point, yours have 2 on a single pivot point makeing it unstable, if your able to copy of the design of a real one you will be able to make a lift that does not need guide posts and only needs one active rotor (might try it myself since it's a nice idea for a station lift).
Vokul-Kriid 12 Jun, 2014 @ 10:43am
anybody need a tire changing, lol
Pep  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 11:23pm
You can take a look at the tutorial :D
Thicc 💀 Goblins 11 Jun, 2014 @ 7:52pm
Merge blocks are too powerful and break stuff. I want fix :(
Torroc 11 Jun, 2014 @ 7:36pm
Hay are you haveing an issue with the merge blocks as well. I tryed to make the arms, and then combine them with the merge blocks and it then sent part of my machine flying in to space.
primarccreagor 11 Jun, 2014 @ 5:27pm
Did a dirty build to show the lift floor could be used to control movment, I made it big to have an easy time building it as linking the blocks can be a pain. I have found that making it out of station blocks to keep it from moving build it, then change it a ship so that part moves, makes it easy to keep things in pace building.

Nice For Lifts :D
Pep  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 7:05am
I decided to do a video tutorial, I'll post it right here.
Pep  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 7:00am
If you start to build it from the platform you could control it from the platform
Tohob 11 Jun, 2014 @ 6:54am
if only you could control the thing from the platform. surround the thing in a big shell and make an elevator, but sadly it seems controls only work from the outside
Dread Vim Fantail 11 Jun, 2014 @ 2:15am
Thanks! :D
Dread Vim Fantail 11 Jun, 2014 @ 2:15am
Yeah I see what I was doing wrong.

I was making it in the folded position instead of the extended one. Got it.
Video James 11 Jun, 2014 @ 12:55am
this looks like it could have cool use at a mass hangar
Pep  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 12:26am
@RoseTheNose If you put your base rotors to 0 degrees you will have the initial build position aswell
Pep  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 12:22am
@RoseTheNose said: "If my base rotors range from -35 to 35 degrees, does that mean that the other arms will as well?"
Answer: No, It doesn't
Pep  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 12:15am
@RoseTheNose Ok, I am sorry, let's check one thing that I forgot to mention :D Please see screenshot number 5, it shows the initial build position, look at the blocks in it, they are placed in the same orientation as I placed. I am not sure if I am explained correctly so you could figure what I am trying to say.
primarccreagor 10 Jun, 2014 @ 9:13pm
Thanks for the idea, made this from your design.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561197981409872/screenshots/?appid=244850
Still needs work and has some bugs. Made it out of LT armor blocks to find out how easy it is the hurt, takes damage when drill is out and swinging.
Dread Vim Fantail 10 Jun, 2014 @ 6:05pm
Ok I see what you mean.

What do I set the ranges to once I have it level?
Dread Vim Fantail 10 Jun, 2014 @ 5:58pm
If my base rotors range from -35 to 35 degrees, does that mean that the other arms will as well? I tried doing this and it looks close. The only problem is that the extended base tips to the side. Should I add more landing gear?
