Just ignore the outdated warnings in the launcher. The mod should work regardless. :)
Yes, the mod should still work.
Not save game compatible means, you have to start a new game for this mod to work.
What you basically do:
Start a new game, talk to the commander in port (the dude you pick up your missions from) then you choose the option to ask for favors and then you should see the different options to increase your officer limit.
You will need to have a few Reputation Points saved in order to be able to use these options.
Hope this answers your questions. It's just a super simple mod, so shouldn't be too complicated to use. :)
Just keep in mind: Start a new game. Otherwise the mod won't load.
Glad the mod seems to work with beta 2024.1 :)
I might update the version number, so it won't show up as "outdated" in the launcher, however, I prefer to wait for a few more days/weeks until the dev-patch-cycle calms down a bit. ;)
I don't think that's possible. Sorry.
So yes, new game only.
Glad you enjoy my mod here so much!
In case anyone wonders what my personal setup is:
I only take one extra Officer with me, so that I have the even number of 8 Officers on board.
1 Kaleun at the UZO
1 Watchofficer at the UZO
2 Navigator
2 Radiomen - who switch to the hydrophone when submerged
2 Engineer / Weapon Officer
Obviously the Officers change their shift after four hours.
So: Four hours duty, four hours resting.
The creation of your More Officers Mod helps everyone considering
"How many and which officers do I actually need ?"
Thanks greatly again.
A vision after 500 hours of sailing might differ from one after "just" 300 hours.
I'm enjoying having 8 officers very much , but I think I'm doing a bit too well.
I might go back to "just" 7 Officers.
Experiencing some more sailing and shooting, I notice that, for some reason,
having 5 Officers of duty CAN have all five of them sleep.
Sometimes there is one officer looking for a bed, but most of the time these five can all sleep at the same time.
Thanks again for your Mod.
Thank you for your swift reply.
I guess we'll just have to live with this situation then.
I have to say, when only using 8 officers onboard, the situation is bareable by keeping a little eye on the officers' condition. Which isn't that big of a deal.
Using 9 officers onboard is a little too much to deal with and / or would require extensive complicating their work schedule.
Anyway, thanks for creating this mod :)
Nope, unfortunately it is not possible to make the other beds usable.
This is not an issue with my mod but with the game itself.
It is designed to be this way.
Why? nobody knows. :)
When I populate the U-Boat with 9 officers, 3 of each class, and have no overlapping schedules within each class, there are always 2 officers who cannot sleep because there's no bed for them available.
Can the two empty beds, visible in the animation, be added to the total amount of beds available for officers to actually use them ?
Is there something in the excel-files I could edit to resolve this issue ?
2. Get yourself some Reputation Points either by earning them through the campaign, or by opening the console and typing "Reputation 25".
3. Use the console to get yourself some more starting money: "Budget 10000".
4. Now go to the Port Officer and click on the favors menu. From there scroll all the way down untill you see the new options added by this mod. Buy all the unlockable options.
5. Go to your crew officer and recruit some more sailors.
6. Click on the crew list in order to customize them.
7. Now promote your sailors to officers.
8. Check to see if your new officers are assigned to your boat.
9. Done, have fun.

The mod is updated to the newest and latest patch number.
I update this mod the moment new patch gets released, so I really don't know why you people are struggling with getting this mod to work.
That's not how it works.
You still have to get the officers by either promoting sailors or unlocking them by doing missions.
It works for me, so I assume it will work for you, too!
Just be careful with your oxygen when submerged, as more men may need more oxygen! :)
Yep, the mod works.
Tested with a freshly, completely vanilla installed game!
However, there are some slight issues where I messed up the numbers and their description displayed when purchasing the officer slots.
It's no big deal at all, to be honest. All you have to do is to basically buy "Raise Officer Limit to 7" twice. The second purchase would count as officer slot 8.
Also don't get freaked out by the "Outdated" message in the mod menu on startup.
It still should work just fine as it is with 2022.1.
If I find time and muse to update this mod, I'll do it.
For now, just use this version as it works just fine. :)
..
However, if the pruning increases compatibility, I'd have to say it's worth it.
The vanilla officer max limit was 7.
Btw I recently took a uboat break, was the vanilla officer max limit always 9 or 10?
Mod should now work properly with other mods.
I removed all the unneccecary data sheet-leftovers.
Only very minor issue I encountered while trying UBE (Uboat Expanded):
You get the "increase the amount of officers to 9." option twice when using UBE and MOoB.
Just ignore this and select each officer increase option one by one to the total of 12. :)
Also don't get confused by the numbers shown ingame.
If you chose the option to go for 11 officers, you actually will be able to get 12 officers on board.
There seems to be some minor UI-Bug which causes this.
Should you have any questions, feel free to post them!

Each of the officer limit upgrades increases the officer cap by one. They do not change the cap to a specific number. After buying the vanille upgrade for the seventh officer you can buy the moded "increase officer to 7 " upgrade and will have a cap of 8.
Looks as it would work fine.
But(!) I have to confirm the bug @*Nimrod pointed out. There are 2 options to increase the limit to 7: The vanilla one and the one from the mod
