Good mod, update soon!

@Cornelius Noctua Hi, I just checked the mod and by the looks of it, it would not be compatible as it modifies the same files. Though, you could load the mods up and see if it works.

Thanks!

@Chaz Hello, do you think this mod can be compatible with Roma Victrix?
Giovanille 13 Sep, 2022 @ 12:13pm
Très bien !

Love the changes. I think it would be better though to change the Principes mail to some Lorica Hamata looking mail with the extra reinforced bits over the shoulders.
Also, the Equites were also supposed to be the wealthy elite of Rome so they would most likely have the most expensive gear possible, bronze breastplates and plumed helmets etc. If possible that would be a cool change. As I say great changes overall.

@Zargo Thanks!

@JonkoXL Oh. Somehow, I do not know how but that completely slipped my mind. Thanks. I will check it out at some point.

@chazzerberg
you might be able to compress the textures with lz4 to maybe reduce file size by 75%.
(as in, using the same compression as feral used to ship the textures)

i cant tell if i like this look or ferals ... more

lol

Yeah I know, though with the core mod, I only have to have those txt files once, not have its own like you said previously. Either-way, it is problematic where modular mods are concerned unfortunately as you say.

As for the crashing though, from testing it does still work if you leave the original texture name the same. As it has a default texture, then it has faction specific textures. It will crash if I change the name though so you are right in that regard.

the "core" mod would list all the needed texture files, so if you lacked even a single part, it would just crash because it couldn't find one of those textures required by descr_model_battle

yeah that's my point, making different parts wouldn't really matter since you would still need all of them for them to actually work
Chaz  [author] 8 Jan, 2022 @ 7:28am
No not really. I made the core mod that has those files within it. So now, if I every want to create a Greek reskin pack I just edit those then make a separate mod for the greek textures. The only issue with that though, which is annoying, is its not really modular. So you cant pick and choose between my mods and lets say, the mod that changes Egypt into the Hellenistic influenced faction it should be. At least, that's my understanding currently with the set up of the mod launcher for Rome.

I could be wrong, feel free to correct me then lol

I don't think you'd be able to split it in multiple parts, because each mod would need to have its own export_descr_unit and descr_model_battle.txt, so they would conflict with each other if I understand correctly
Chaz  [author] 7 Jan, 2022 @ 1:18am
@fuck I just checked again, the entire unit texture count (including all DLCs) is 11.9gb. So that is around 3.9 gig for the base game alone. So if I was to make 3 variations of that texture for every unit, taking into account 35 units for base game, that is around 45 to 50gigs atleast.

This is one of the reasons I split the mod up into different sections. I want to use the workshop and not have to point people to 3rd party sites. I don't even know if there's a workshop mod limit size for Rome. But yeah. What can you do I guess?

@ Chazzerberg , yeah I went through the files quickly, it's insane how unpractical this system is... and that's only 7*5=35 (I think) units, imagine the whole game like this
Cell Tv 6 Jan, 2022 @ 8:28am
Oh sorry, I miss that part.
Chaz  [author] 6 Jan, 2022 @ 8:05am
@Cell Tv Thanks. Though as I said in the description, I cannot make models to save my life. So the ones in game will have to do I am afraid.

@fuck It is indeed unfortunate. I tried to compress the files the best I could without losing all the detail. There are also multiple versions of the same texture with different shield/other designs also resulting in an even higher mod size.

Thanks for the comments

1.55 GB for a couple textures :Nutcracker:
see, that's the issue with RR modding, mods are painfully un optimized in terms of size...
(Not Chaz's fault obviously)

very nice, I didn't like the way early romans look in the game either, that's great work!
Cell Tv 6 Jan, 2022 @ 6:04am
Pretty nice, can you make in the future a thracian helmet for the hoplites(like the original game) and a pseudo corinthian style helmet for the triarii?

Thanks! :steamthumbsup:
