Manic, your portrait work is incredible! I've actually been experimenting with them in mods I've been working on, one of them being a long-belated update of Jarls of India.

Or at least replace the "cloaked" middle loros with the later one, as mosaics and coinage show rulers like Constantine Monomachos and John II Komnenos wearing that specific type of Loros.

Is it possible to update the early and middle Byzantine crowns/Loroi to look as "shiny" as their late counterparts?

WHY DOES EVERYONE LOOK SO FLIPPING SEXY ALL OF A SUDDEN?!

UPDATE: French and Occitan characters now use Early Western European clothes in the early game.

@Mike - Thanks for your suggestions. Though, as you said, since the Portuguese and all other non-Castilian Iberian cultures will use these clothes, I'll probably refrain from adding any sort of kingdom-specific heraldry to them.

So, earlier last year i was planning on making a portrait mods to iberians, and from what i gathered looking at the sources i sent you and my personal aesthetic sense, the ones that would fit the most would be:
italian headgears 0, 2 and 3
french headgear 1
french clothing 1 (one recoloured with the coat-of-arms of castille printed onto them and another one recoloured in the pink colour matching the portrait from Juan I de Castilla)
I think the portuguese would need a proper separated clothing mod with no spanish heraldry, given it would break this mod's ironman compatibility

@DaVincix - Glad it worked out for you!

Yeah, it would be nice to have a more dynamic child portrait system. Perhaps something similar to the adult portrait one with three distinct 'stages' (baby/toddler - child - teen etc.). Unfortunately I'm almost certain that something like that is hard-coded and cannot be modded.

Everything in order now. No idea if it was really a non-steam file difference. However, enjoying now the complete improvement with your mod, the result counts. Btw., a nice project would be imo. to have more different child portraits, perhaps not the variety from male/females, but maybe 1-3. Or, a child (0-9 y.) and a teen 10-15 y.) portraits per child type.

Thanks! Will try at first the non-steam, perhaps it is somehow different for me (i unzipped your steam file, and tried that to no avail). The repeated unsubscribe/subcribe was already done multiple times. Afterwards i check all the other suggestions. Thumbs up for your engaged help.

@DaVincix - Sorry to hear you're having problems. I checked to see if I could replicate this issue on my end and, unfortunately, I couldn't. I disabled all my other mods, running the game on pure vanilla with only this mod enabled, and the portraits all worked fine.

It's very possible that there is a required DLC that I forgot to add to the list, though everything seems to be covered after skimming through the mod files.

Not sure if you've tried this, but it's usually a good idea to disable all mods (not just other portrait ones) except the one you're having issues with and, if it works on its own, slowly re-enable them one by one so you can find the conflict.

@DaVincix (CONTINUED) - You could also check your error.log file (located in Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\logs by default) to see if there is anything mentioned there about missing/corrupted portrait gfx files.

Only other thing I can suggest is, since it isn't uncommon for files to be corrupted when downloading from the workshop, try resubscribing or download the non-Steam version [www.dropbox.com] and install it manually.

Hope this helps!

Hey. fan of all your FX modding work, since i came back to CK2 few weeks ago! Thanks for all the good stuff! Unfortunately with this portrait mod, the early (769 AD start) Iberian, Roman/Italian male/female faces are messed up (everything else seems okay). I checked everything (DLCs, other portrait mods for conflicts ... ). It's with this mod enabled only. Can't imagine that it is still an issue on my end. I wonder why nobody else reports it. So far i fixed it for myself with removing the according files from the mod, so i can play with the rest properly (myself an old modder, but not in CK2 FX files, but for that check it is enough that i know what to do), alone the new child porttraits were much needed. Hope you'll find time to check it out, and i hope i was right with this report. Best Greetings!

UPDATE: Added new faces for the Crimean Goths (see above for previews). They now use German facial assets that have been slightly sharpened and recoloured. They use Greek hairstyles and beards. In the early game, they use Western European clothing with Byzantine headgear. For the mid and late-game, they use full Byzantine clothes and headgear.

I've decided to replace the Italian beards with a slightly modified variant of the Muslim ones added in Holy Fury. They're of a better quality and generally sit better on the face. Plus, from the brief time I've tested them, they don't seem to look out of place for the culture/religion.

@Mike - Thanks!

Regarding late-game Iberian clothing, it depends on whether or not I can use pre-existing clothing assets to make them. I'm pretty good at editing/recolouring but I'm less proficient at making items from scratch.

I'll do a bit of digging to find some more reference images and I'll see if I can put something together that looks decent. Hopefully I can utilise assets from other western European clothing sets to come up with something that looks historically authentic and somewhat unique.

Excellent work as always! Liked and favd!
Any chance of late-game clothing for iberians? You could base it on the paintings of "La colección de retratos de reyes del Ayuntamiento de León" and the paintings from "Quinta da regaleira", not sure about how historically accurate they are, though.
