I hope this mod indeed helped devs to add mod feature in game, but im still confused why you cant fill gas can with water because its just make sense. However i cant play with this mod, but many thanks for this feature added in vanilla!

the mod is broken, you can’t refuel, even the canisters don’t work

with latest update to the gaming adding the ability to fill bottles etc with gasoline now, is this mod now no longer needed? many thanks

I was using this in a save game for a while. With the recent update, it started giving errors trying to fill gas cans from a pump. Disabling the mod inside the menus didn't work. I had to unsubscribe, and it's now letting me fill gas cans again.

So this mod doesn't work on multiplayer I presume ? Last time me and a friend tried, gave us an error when filling the gascan with water that required a restart of the server, the issue caused the gas can to be undroppable (could not drop, could not use, could not unequip). We have since started a new game and now its no longer there even tho the mod is listed as present in the server.

is this mod still working? I took out all other mods in my mod list, run a custom game to check it out and this mod doesn work

This is an essential mod for all my playthroughs. Highly recommend!

hey dude, i have a problem, when i try fill something with water the game warns for an error, and then I can't do anything, i can´pick things up to my inventory and things like that. It is solved when i exit to the main menu and enter the game, but if a try to fill, happen again. thanks <3

have you ever run chlorine and gasoline in a small engine before? Have you ever tried to clean out a kerosene or gasoline container for use with potable water? Sure you might run tainted gas through a Mopar 318, or better yet, an F-150 but a genset? IDK, if I didn't have to depend on the generator, or drink the water it might work out fine. Generally speaking though, water and/or bleach in your gas line, pump or the fuel system in general is bad news. Then again, live for today right?

Pushed an update that fixes the items for 41.71.

Please note that there is a minimum quantity required by the base game for refilling generators, I recommend you use a bleach bottle.

@liquidliam329 in mods on the bottom right it says mod order, click that and move this to the top. But its not working now, just creates lots of errors.

see `media/lua/shared/GAWIC_Config.lua` - the simplest change would be to alter GAS_WEIGHT but you can of course completely rewrite the CalcStats() algorithm if you prefer.

@ace, no need to apologise, I wasn't being sarcastic - the game is a bit arbitrary about volume to weight ratios for containers but just in case they ever clean it up in future, I wanted something generic.

As for the generator issue - I'll see what's up

Got it working by putting this mod at the top of the order list which stopped the bottle disappearing and allowed it to be filled.

But you can't fill generators up from bottles though?

@ace - the volumes are automatically generated relative to the weight of the water the container would hold (i.e. the same volume of gasoline weighs approximately 75% of water) - if you think you have a better idea, come up with consistent mathematical formula and I'll apply it if it's realistic across all containers.

Mod updated to support the latest release of the game which added some newly required fields for water containers. The "Gas Can With Water" now functions correctly.

Warning: Is not compatible with Attach Items to Backpacks (build 41) by planetalgol. Not a complaint, just relaying what I experienced.

i havent used and tested other containers fyi, just some feedback cause that was too much gas from a water bottle

so this mod is exactly what i needed, thanks, but i do wanna suggest lowering the amount of gas you get in a car from the water bottle, i went from 1.7 to 11 something, which i think is a bit too much for a water bottle, i would guess more around 6 or so would be more fair without being overly realistic (otherwise it should be like 1 unit of gas)

Tested again and I seem to have the same issue. Must be a mod conflict of some kind. Sorry can't test it any further than that, since removing mods breaks the server. :(

@Sol I have a mod to switch the water bottle to gas can. is compatible to las MP version. This isn't a spam, this mod have an error, I ask a solution. To the autor of this, I very satisfied with your job, I can't do this. 10/10

When I try to fill anything other than the vanilla gas can, the error box pops up and throws exactly 127 errors... it consumes the bottle but doesn't produce a fuel filled container of any kind. I disabled all the mods I can, but some can't be disabled as the server terminates and fails to start without them.

Is this known to work/not work in multiplayer at this time? Is there any other dependency that's required that I might be missing? Currently on version 41.66 multiplayer server.

I am using Filibuster Rhymes car pack, and it has some fuel extension thing... not sure if this conflicts? Thanks in advance for any clues/tips/tricks.

@LIL_MAYO The drinks bottles are ostensibly made of PET plastic. You can store gasoline in PET plastic, it won't eat through it - that's why you can make molotov cocktails in the base game with them.

Bleach bottles are made of HDPE, which, incidentally, is the same plastic that gas cans are made out of.

Also, the whiskey bottle is made of glass, not plastic.

The code is 100% original. I am not aware of anyone else having implemented changes that enable inventory items to interchange between gas and water.

Well, if you want to fill your car up with a water bottle, it's going to be quite the job because it has only a mere fraction of what a gas can holds, so you can enjoy quite a lot of ferrying back and forth if you don't want to use a can.

i just think it would be a cool balancing mechanic to limit the use of bottle if you used it with gas, so player cant have one easy container for all.
IRL I had experience with mixing gasoline with oil in plastic. You can clean it, but after some time plastic start to deteriorate and you cant drink from it. Even cleaning the container after gas must take at least soap and a day of drying. Not sure about glass though.

Why? you could just rinse it out.

If you fill a bottle with petrol IRL and then rinse it out, nothing will happen to you.

Actually, even if you don't fully rinse it out, the quantity of gasoline you ingest would be so negligible that nothing would happen to you, too.

Yes, there is no implementation of "contamination"

If I ever do decide to do that (i.e. require rinsing the container out), I would use the in-game mechanics of flagging water as Tainted, so you would know.

if i had a gas can that held gas, emptied it, and then filled it with water, would it be safe to drink that water? Just want to make sure before i lose a long lasting character

they didnt add it because in real life gas would eat thru any other plastic than what they make jerry cans with
