I think the weather feature is not ready for this kind of mission, I mean i get it, it cool when you are forced to takeoff/land sideways, but it not funny when you just spawn and the tip of my wings get rip off. While carriers usually help align with favorable winds, they can't do so here since the fleet is navigating the river, giving the urgency factor, thing that is good idea, give ace combat vibes and should not be changed, but i think is not compatible with the weather feature. The weather ignores terrain, which should funnel winds along the river instead of acting like it’s open sea
Im telling this cuz my experience in "normal quick" version, i wasnt aware that it was an event, but danm sure the game make you know there was something wrong, i thought i was a weather bug from a map that wasnt updated for the new feature.
Most times people will just leave frustrated as they think the mission is bugged in some ways.
Was on the first phase and don't remember if it later had the weather machine.
And the main reason I carry a fuel tank on there is to be able to dump it when I go into combat as Air to Air or maybe during SEAD. (During ground attack it doesn't matter as much to fly like a brick.) So I load my plane with like 3000-4000 fuel and a drop tank, so I can fly up to altitude and build speed. And then drop the tank to instantly improve my TWR. As long as I remember to do so haha.
But yeah, personally I'd like to see the slot being open as I can already carry a fair amount of GBU-39's and 38's on the F/A-26B.
Though it is your mission so you do as you want. :)
- A: Unable to take GBU-39 on center pylon.
- B: Able to take GBU-39 on center pylon by clicking "load recommended", otherwise the pylon reverts to empty.
- C: Forced to take GBU-39 on center pylon by simply opening equips page, otherwise the pylon reverts to empty.
I chose option C because I was afraid too many people wouldn't understand the quirks of option B. (That solution worked better for Delta's wingtip AIM-120s, because that config is legal so it wouldn't revert to empty when you picked the slot.)
In my experience, I have enough fuel on a full tank to fly to sector B or C (afterburning the whole way), fire off all my weapons, then land at the airbase there with a thousand liters or so. This is yet another reason why capturing the airbase should be your #1 priority. 12 bombs is enough to do so solo even on high intensity.
CAP is quite hard and we need to respawn many times.
Thanks.
