I got the LUA error
Vuthakral  [author] 23 Jun, 2024 @ 3:57pm
Well it's a good thing it's an editor then. A lot of maps aren't properly set up and have either a super bright ambient or a pitch black ambient value, that's not something I can fix, much less my problem
g33kno3 23 Jun, 2024 @ 11:51am
every other map blinds me with white and some other colors
g33kno3 23 Jun, 2024 @ 11:50am

In the editor. It works like an editor entity. It's called an editor.

And where the hell should I find the settings?

One of the more known maps where I'm experiencing this issue is Bitterbrook Woods - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2701195340
It happens usually when I stand on the cliff around the map's middle or go under the train tunnel. My settings on this map are as following:
"BloomStretchHorizontal": 278.0,
"Saturation": 87.0,
"Scalar": 61.0,
"AmbientValue": "[236.997 236.997 236.997]",
"BloomStretchVertical": 278.0,
"ExtendedLightPower": 102.0,
"ColorModulateCustom": "[194.004 130.9935 70.992]",
"Version": 1.0,
"AmbientOverriden": true,
"BloomIntensity": 6.0,
"ColorModulationScalar": 744.0

It's way worse on this small map https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2890788560
I'm more prone to believe the creator did something funny to the lights, I can walk around even with basic settings and my screen turns from super bright to super contrasty at random, especially around the small river area and by the fire barrels.
Vuthakral  [author] 22 Aug, 2023 @ 9:44am
Can you link some of the maps that are problem causers? You should be able to just use the override ambient setting to avert the issue
Angel2B 22 Aug, 2023 @ 9:41am
Hi, I wanted to say that this mod is really amazing, it really helps me create the atmosphere I'm looking for on most maps and it's definitely going to be my go-to mod for a long while. However, I do experience issues with eye adaptation - the idea in itself is really good, but as you said yourself, if someone made some very bad map light choices, the colors just go all insane. It did reach a point where I can't exactly use this mod on a few maps as it goes from extreme contrast to almost super bright within five steps or almost fiery orange when standing next to a fire source. I really like it, but I feel like lowest and highest points can get too extreme at times (especially on maps with broken cubemaps). I noticed that the last update was in 2022, so I understand if you're done with developing this mod, but is there a chance to get a way to configure/disable only eye adaptation, or will I need to extract the mod and try to work around it myself?

@Vuthakral this is fine now man and i was running with a intel cpu but i have a new pc with a ryzen 5800 and this mod runs fine now thx man
Vuthakral  [author] 6 Aug, 2023 @ 7:51pm
If you are using a computer with Intel HD, you're likely going to run into performance issues as it does not render screenspace effects very well with Source.
𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕠𝕟 𝕘 6 Aug, 2023 @ 4:32pm
this limits my fps for some reason
Vuthakral  [author] 5 Jun, 2023 @ 8:29pm
Use your context menu and right click it.
Dr. Greg Coomer 5 Jun, 2023 @ 7:53pm
how do you view the settings on the editor I've tried pressing e on it but that does not work
Postalcatgirl 25 Apr, 2023 @ 11:24pm
thanks
Vuthakral  [author] 25 Apr, 2023 @ 5:55am
Install the Draconic Base. It's listed as a requirement for a reason.
Postalcatgirl 25 Apr, 2023 @ 5:48am
I got this error

[Atmospheric Editor] lua/autorun/halo3bloom.lua:625: attempt to index global 'DRC' (a nil value)

Update has just been pushed which fixes the automated settings & saves a marginal amount of performance compared to the previous version.
Vuthakral  [author] 25 Nov, 2022 @ 2:03pm
The last update was almost two months ago
The Pizza is Aggressive 25 Nov, 2022 @ 12:48pm
also it seems to be really tanking my fps now, it used to run just fine before
Vuthakral  [author] 16 Nov, 2022 @ 12:26pm
It's not broken. I'm working on an updated version with the automated settings, it's just not ready yet.
DishTheWasher 16 Nov, 2022 @ 11:45am
The mod is definitely broken. When using this mod, most of the screen is just white. Also, it'd be nice to be able autoload the same preset on every map, or make us able to disable the bloom feature of this mod through a console command as I do like the added lights.
b4n 29 Oct, 2022 @ 2:22am
nice
IonicNebula 28 Oct, 2022 @ 2:19am
Yea man the bloom in this is broken. No matter what map I load it automatically goes sicko mode and literally blinds me no matter what. Judging by the comments, other people got it too.

And don't just say "Editor" It shouldn't be our job to fix something your addon is automatically breaking. The game is unplayable with this installed and it seriously needs a fix.

Yes, spawning the editor does fix it. However we should not have to. I just spent around an hour sifting through all of my addons finding out what was breaking my game until I found it was this.

There were no error codes for me to find anything; it was "working as intended" as far as Gmod was concerned.

Please, fix it if you can. Properly setup maps have this issue too btw.
AdamkolPl 27 Oct, 2022 @ 1:40pm
you made me delete bloom in garry's mod
MOTS0 15 Oct, 2022 @ 7:00pm
yes, I know it's an editor, it still shouldn't blind the player immediately. The issue appears to be the automatic detected bloom intensity, it goes over 100, which is more than the range cap in the actual editor.
Vuthakral  [author] 15 Oct, 2022 @ 5:52pm
"editor"
MOTS0 15 Oct, 2022 @ 2:34pm
Something is definitely wrong with the eye adaptation, I get the eye blinding screen wide bloom even on maps like gm_fork, which actually is setup with proper lighting.
Vuthakral  [author] 6 Oct, 2022 @ 12:11pm
also @Mcboyo it's called an "editor" for a reason, if a map is too bright from the automated settings then just make your own map save for it using the editor
Vuthakral  [author] 6 Oct, 2022 @ 12:11pm
if I said I would add that previously, I entirely forgot about it. It does sound like something fair to add though because I know physgun glow specifically is kind of a love-it-or-hate-it kind of deal. I'll add an option for it for the next update on this.
Biggity Swigger 6 Oct, 2022 @ 11:33am
Has the option to disable phygun glow been added yet?
life4trinity 4 Oct, 2022 @ 1:34am
So it seems when I spawn the editor it's not as bad but much brighter than I remember still. Weird...
life4trinity 4 Oct, 2022 @ 1:28am
Hi Vuthakral, I don't know if I missed something in the changelog but ever since updating my mod my game has gone bonkers and the eye adjustment system is straight-up blinding me now. Here's an image demonstrating my issue: https://i.imgur.com/apx2LCs.jpg
Vuthakral  [author] 11 Sep, 2022 @ 12:19pm
Install the required addon. It says required for a reason.
V0WLT 11 Sep, 2022 @ 8:40am
when i load the map gm_dark_freeway it says it is having problems with Lua and what it say or what i copied was this: [Atmospheric Editor] lua/autorun/halo3bloom.lua:526: attempt to index global 'DRC' (a nil value)
1. v - lua/autorun/halo3bloom.lua:526
2. unknown - lua/includes/modules/hook.lua:96
B-Bud 9 Aug, 2022 @ 12:25pm
I did use the editor but even when I turn bloom down to 0, it still will randomly get excessively bloomy at times.
Vuthakral  [author] 9 Aug, 2022 @ 7:16am
The gradient is a shader limitation of using the modulate shader on a screenspace element. I'm still occasionally looking for ways I could potentially bypass that issue.

Stuff being "super dark" and "super bloomy" just means the map has some whack lighting and the addon has a stroke trying to auto-generate settings for it. Just plop down the editor and tweak the settings to your liking and then use the save map command, instructions of which are in the screenshots above.
B-Bud 9 Aug, 2022 @ 12:17am
Yeah, this addon has started making every map super bloomy and have a weird depth gradient where everything close is really bright and everything far away is super dark.
Vuthakral  [author] 19 Jun, 2022 @ 11:01am
@Max Malevich -- Incorrect. "Eye Adapation" is a term derived from using smooth transitioning of bloom effects based on a single focal point. Source's HDR scaling is a composite based on the black/white levels of the image (frame) being rendered. The more white & the brighter the object is, the darker the rest of the frame becomes to create the HDR effect, and inversely the darker an environment is, the brighter an illuminated object will appear. The effect in this addon is a gradual change of the bloom in it, not a composite colour correction.
